Zydus Cadila has begun supplying its needle-free antiCovid vaccine ZyCoV-D to the government, the company announced on Wednesday.“The company has started the supplies of its Covid-19 vaccine ZyCoV-D to the government of India against their order from its newly commissioned, state-of-theart Zydus Vaccine Technology Excellence Centre at the Zydus Biotech Park in Changodar, Ahmedabad,” said the company in a statement.The government last year placed an order for 10
million vaccine doses for the national anti-Covid immunisation programme. The company is also planning to make the vaccine available in the market.ZyCoV-D is the world’s first plasmid DNA vaccine. The digital rupee will be a digital depiction of an Indian rupeesupported by the Reserve Bank of India and will be equivalent in value to the physical rupee.The move indicates an accommodative approach towards digital currencies, rather thaninimical, which at one point of time appeared to be a strong option. In that respect, DigitalRupee is in accordance with a new line of thinking by the central banks across the world,which seeks to recognise the reality that cryptocurrencies have attained a status that cannotbe wished away. Concepts such as digital dollar, digital euro and e-yuan are being pursuedactively by the leading central banks. So Digital Rupee is a natural fit. The plan to set up a digitaluniversity, building on the experience gained in the forced shift towards online educationduring the pandemic, will be built on a hub and spoke model, is expected to address some ofthese disadvantages, particularly the digital divide in education.Plans have been announced to launch the 1-Class-1-TV channel to provide supplementary education to children to make up for the loss of formal education due to Covid. Accordingly, the PM eVIDYA scheme is being expanded from 12 to 200 TV channels. This will enable allstates to provide supplementary education in regional languages for classes 1 to 12.The finance minster has announced the setting up of an Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming,and Comics (AVGC) task force to help build domestic capacity to serve the Indian marketsand also meet global demand. Ajanta-Ellora Caves, Other Sites In Maharashtra Reopen Agency News: Aurangabad The world famous Ajanta and Ellora caves and various other monuments reopened in Maharashtra on Wednesday after being shut for about three weeks in the wake of a surge in COVID-19 cases, an official said. TTML had initially decided to go for conversion of interest on AGR dues into equity and had also communicated its decision to the telecom department.In response, the telecom department told the company that the NPV (net
present value) of the interest, which is eligible for conversion into equity, is only Rs 195.22 crore as against the company’s calculation of Rs 850 crore, Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) said in a regulatory filing. “As the interest amount eligible for conversion is much lesser than as expected and calculated by the company, the board of directors…in its meeting held on February 1, 2022, has decided to withdraw the desire expressed for conversion,” the filing said.
