Nation cannot celebrate its achievements if women and children not safe: Kiren Rijiju

‘Art of Listening is Powerful’: Rahul Gandhi at Cambridge University

Agency News: New Delhi

There was a time in India when corruption was a hot political issue. Now it’s just another political weapon. Let’s take a case from the headlines: the so-called Delhi liquor scam and the arrest of deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia. If the charges levelled by the CBI are upheld, then the consequences should be devastating for CM Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).Kejriwal first came to national prominence skulking behind Anna Hazare’s dhoti. At that stage, during UPA 2, Kejriwal asked us to trust him because neither he nor his partners in the Anna movement were in it for themselves. They had taken to the streets, he said, only because they wanted to fight the menace of corruption. In time, most of his claims proved to be hollow. The first to be thrown off the bus (metaphorically, at least) was Anna Hazare who had been put forward as the movement’s ostensible leader. Next Kejriwal also flung all his other allegedly high-minded fellow agitators off the bus, one by one. Kiran Bedi, the Bhushans, Yogendra Yadav, Kumar Vishwas and all the others who had once appeared on TV shows talking about the battle against corruption disappeared from view. Next to go was the claim that they were all in it for the public good, not for power or position. Among the few people of consequence left standing after the purges in India Against Corruption movement, was Kejriwal’s long-standing associate Manish Sisodia. The two of them became the founders of a new political party, AAP, and both have enjoyed political power since then.So what does a party born out of an anti-corruption platform do when its deputy CM gets arrested on corruption charges? Or that another senior minister — Satyendra Jain — is already sitting in jail?

England concerned with Stokes injury ahead of Ashes Bumrah to undergo surgery in New Zealand

Agency News : New Delhi

England head home from New Zealand with the rare sting of defeat after the Black Caps’ ‘Miracle at the Basin’ and more than a little concern over the fitness of captain Ben Stokes a few months out from the

Ashes. While Stokes had no regrets about enforcing the follow-on in the one-run defeat in Wellington, he had plenty about the state of his left knee which had him grimacing in pain throughout the series. Knee trouble has long bothered Stokes but he has soldiered on through 10 Test wins in 12 matches since taking charge of England last year. Things appeared to have come to a head in Wellington where the allrounder managed to bowl only two overs and was in pain when batting. It is still not clear whether Stokes, who’s with CSK in the IPL, will be available for the tournament and a decision could be taken in the next few days.

Tactically odd yet impressive, the Dhoni way: Faf du Plessis

Agency News : New Delhi

Former South Africa captain

Faf du Plessis believes Mahendra Singh Dhoni, among others, helped him mature as a leader, adding that the former India skipper is tactically one of the best in the business. Du Plessis had two long stints with IPL franchise Chennai

Super Kings — from 2011-2015 and 2018-2021 — before he moved to Royal Challengers Bangalore as captain last season. The South African said when he realised he was not going to be a leader like former Proteas skipper Graeme Smith or Dhoni, he decided to just be himself. “I think what was really good for me to go through was the conviction that I am not going to be Graeme Smith as a captain, I’m not going to be Stephen Fleming as a captain, I’m not going to be MS Dhoni as a captain. In order for me to be true to who I am as a person, I need to be me. Because if

you’re not being you, then people will see through it, maybe not when you’re doing well but definitely when you are under pressure, or under-performing, the real you will reveal itself,” Du Plessis said in a RCB podcast. During his debut season with CSK, Du Plessis said, he used to spend a lot of time with former New Zealand captain and Chennai team chief coach Fleming, just picking his brains on captaincy and trying to imbibe the nuances of leadership. “I always had this leadership perspective of learning from great leaders, it (leadership) was always something that I was fascinated about. When I initially came into the South African team, Graeme Smith was the captain.

Bumrah’s most recent breakdown, which is being considered as the start of another stress fracture, has forced the medical team at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to face the fact that surgery on his troublesome vertebrae was probably

Foden shines as Manchester City thrash Bristol City 0-3

Agency News : New Delhi

Such is the collection of stars at Manchester City that it can be easy, at times, to forget about Phil Foden. This jewel of English football has been kept in the shadows during the past few weeks, but then there are days like this, when the 22-year-old reminds the world — and indeed his manager — of his class. An FA Cup brace against Bristol City, mid-table in the Championship, is not going to make or break Foden’s season. Nor is it going to rank particularly highly in the career highlights of this most talented of English footballers. But for it to follow a similarly sparkling showing against Bournemouth is significant for Manchester City. Is Foden back? On this evidence, the answer is an emphatic yes. Dropped from the side in recent weeks (he has also struggled with injury), Foden must have looked enviously at teammates. Perhaps

an anger has burned in him. It certainly seemed that way on a cold night here, when he flew into tackles with a formidable fire. With help from Riyad Mahrez and Kevin De Bruyne, Foden gradually picked apart Nigel Pearson’s side on an ultimately straightforward evening for Pep Guardiola’s team. Mahrez was signed by Pearson at Leicester but he was ruthless in creating Foden’s first against his old manager. The returning De Bruyne, meanwhile, issued his own statement of intent with a superb long-range effort in the second half.

Sebi on Thursday barred 31 entities, including actor Arshad Warsi, his wife Maria Goretti and promoters of Sadhna Broadcast from the securities market in a case related to uploading misleading videos on YouTube channels recommending investors to buy the company’s shares. The company’s promoters who have been restrained from the securities market for their involvement are -- Shreya Gupta, Gaurav Gupta, Saurabh Gupta, Pooja Aggarwal and Varun Media. In addition, the regulator has impounded illegal gains to the tune of Rs 41.85 crore made by the entities after

misleading videos were uploaded on YouTube channels. Sebi noted that Arshad Warsi has made a profit of Rs 29.43 lakh and his wife has earned a profit of Rs 37.56 lakh. The order came after Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) received certain complaints wherein it was alleged that there was price manipulation and offloading of shares by certain entities in the scrip of television channel Sadhna Broadcast.

The actor, who celebrated his 42nd birthday on February 25 days after the premiere of “Farzi” on Prime Video, said the success of the eight-episode series gave him “a deep sense of satisfaction” as his character is not an easy guy to root for. ”It’s always challenging when you’re playing a guy who is not likeable or who’s not necessarily the guy you want to make friends with or go on a date with... “It’s important for you to make them (audience) like him, even though as the show progresses, he’s not going to be very likeable in the things that he does,” Kapoor told in a virtual interview.Created and directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, “Farzi” revolves around Sunny (Kapoor) who finds himself drawn into the dark while he plots a perfect con. As someone who had binge-watched Raj & DK’s acclaimed Prime Video series “The Family Man”, the actor said he loved the director duo’s work in the streaming space. The two, best known for their movies such as “Go Goa Gone” and “Shor In The City”, initially met Kapoor to discuss a film project. That movie eventually became “Farzi”, and Kapoor said as a fan of “The Family Man”, he could not be happier. “We were talking about a movie and I asked them to have a show and they said, ‘Are you serious? You want to do a show?’ “I said, ‘I love you as filmmakers, you guys are killing it with how you’re telling stories on OTT’, which is very different from telling stories in two hours in the theatre as opposed .
