The court accepted his apology and no action ensued. Vaze was annoyed as the jail staff could not take him for a hospital visit due to lack of escort staff. He is said to have made verbal threats in the situation.
The Mahatma Phule chowk police station on Saturday arrested the driver of a tanker who was releasing 26,730kg of hazardous chemicals into the Waldhuni river, through a pipe at Waldhuni Kalyan near the Waldhuni River Bridge in Shantinagar, at around 1.40am. The tanker has been seized by the Mahatma Phule Chowk police station. Social activists and friends of Waldhuni river Piyush Waghela, Naresh Salve, and Satyajit Burman found a tanker driver releasing dangerous and poisonous chemicals in Waldhuni river. When Piyush Waghela questioned the tanker driver about his activities, he took out the pipe from the tanker and released it into the river. Soon, the activists provided the Information to Mahatma Phule police station late at night. Police immediately reached the spot
and informed the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) officer at 3.30am. MPCB officer Babasaheb Kukde reached the spot, and after investigation, found that the 26,370kg of Hydrochlorite solution of white milky colour chemical -- which is harmful to the environment, humans and aquatic life -- was discharged into the Waldhuni river through a pipe from tanker number MH-05-AM-3059. On questioning the tanker driver Nazar Mohammad Sammi Mulla Ansari, it was found that the said tanker was brought from Dodhia Chemtax Private Limited from Bhiwandi road. NIA files charge sheet against Dawood Ibrahim, Chhota Shakeel Agency News : New Delhi The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday filed a charge sheet against fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, his close aide Chhota Shakeel and three other members of ‘D-Company’ in connection with its probe into raising funds to carry out terrorist activities in Mumbai and other parts of India. According to a statement issued by the NIA, the charge sheet has been filed against Arif Abubakar Shaikh alias Arif Bhaijaan, Shabbir Abubakar Shaikh alias Shabbir, Mohammad Salim Qureshi alias Salim Fruit, Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar alias Shaikh Dawood Hassan, and Shakeel Shaikh alias Chhota Shakeel, under the relevant sections of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) and the India Penal Code (IPC). “Investigations have established that the accused persons, who are members of the ‘D-Company’, a terrorist gang and an organised crime syndicate, had conspired to
further the criminal activities of the gang by carrying out various types of unlawful activities.” ”In furtherance of the said conspiracy, they raised, collected and extorted huge amounts of money by threatening and by putting persons in fear of death or grievous hurt, for the D-Company and for the benefit of an individual terrorist in the instant case, and with the intention to threaten the security of India and create terror in the minds of the general public,” the NIA said in the charge sheet. The NIA has learnt that the arrested accused persons received huge amounts of money through hawala channels from the absconding accused based abroad, which were meant for triggering sensational terrorist/ criminal acts in Mumbai and other parts of India to create terror in the minds of people.

Delhi LG Sends Proposal to MHA, Recommends Non-consensual Sex with Wife Aged 15-18 Yrs Be Treated as Rape Agency News : New Delhi Delhi Lt Governor V K Saxena has sent a proposal to the home ministry recommending that non-consensual sex with wife aged between 15 to 18 years will amount to rape and punishable under the Indian Penal Code, according to Delhi Police sources. It will also remove the discrepancy between the POCSO Act, which is applicable to offences against anyone up till 18 years and the prevailing provisions of the IPC, they said. “Saxena has sent a proposal to the MHA recommending striking down of Exception 2 of Section 375 of Indian Penal Code (IPC), that provides if a girl child between 15 and 18 years is married, her husband can have non-consensual sexual intercourse with her, without being penalised under the IPC,” the sources said. “If the recommendation is incorporated and the IPC amended, non-consensual sex with a wife between 15 to 18 years will amount to rape and will be
punishable under IPC. “It will also remove the discrepancy between the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, which is applicable to offences against anyone up till 18 years and the prevailing provisions of the IPC,” they added. The proposal to this effect was moved by the Delhi Police and Law Department in response to a letter from the Ministry of Home Affairs. The home ministry had asked for the city government’s opinion on the subject in light of a Writ Petition in the Delhi High Court, challenging the validity of Exception 2 of Section 375 of IPC on the grounds that it violates Articles 14 and 21 of the Constitution and is also not in harmony with the provisions of the POCSO Act, which defines a child to be a person below the age of 18 years. Since the subject matter “criminal law” is in the concurrent list and enforced by the state/ Union Territories, in the light of its far-reaching consequences, the MHA had sought views/comments from all state governments/Union Territories.

Cyrus Mistry Accident: Case Filed Against Dr Anahita Pandole for Rash Driving Anahita, a Mumbaibased gynecologist, was driving the car and her husband Darius, also suffered injuries Agency News : New Delhi Police in Maharashtra have registered a case against Dr Anahita Pandole, who was driving the Mercedes car which met with an accident that killed the former chairman of Tata Sons Cyrus Mistry and his friend in September, for alleged rash driving. Mistry and his friend Jahangir Pandole died in the accident on a bridge on the Surya river on the MumbaiAhmedabad highway in the Palghar district adjoining Mumbai on September 4. Mistry and Jahangir were riding in the back seat of the car. The case has been filed under Indian Penal Code sections 304(A) (causing death by rash and negligent act), 279 (rash driving on a public road), 337 (causing death by act endangering life and personal safety of others) besides the Motor Vehicles Act at Kasa police station. “Kasa police filed a case u/s 304(A), 279, 336, 338 in
the death case of former Tata Sons Chairman Cyrus Mistry, against Anahita Pandole, who was driving during an accident. The case has been filed after police recorded her husband Darius Pandole’s statement,” Palghar Superintendent of Police Balasaheb Patil said. As per Palghar police, Anahita is still in the ICU and undergoing treatment. Anahita, a Mumbaibased gynecologist, was driving the car and her husband Darius, also suffered injuries. During the probe, witnesses were questioned and reports were obtained from the Regional Transport Office and Mercedes Benz India Pune. “Based on the reports and probe it has been established that the accident was the result of rash and negligent driving,” and hence a case was registered against Dr Anahita Pandole, said a police release. On Friday, Darius told the police that his wife Anahita could not merge the vehicle into the second lane from the third lane of the road that turned narrow near the Surya river bridge in Palghar.
Ex-tenant Beats Up 58-YearOld Landlord for Refusing Removal of Costly Toilet Seat Agency News : New Delhi A 58-year-old man sustained injuries after being beaten up by his former tenant over the removal of an expensive toilet seat he had installed while using the property, police said on Saturday. The incident took place on Friday afternoon. Police received information about a scuffle between a landlord and his ex-tenant at Chanakya Place, 30 Foota Road near a church, at 3.38 pm. During the inquiry, the injured, identified as Ved Prakash, said he had rented his property to one Subhash Maggo for office purposes in 2021, who vacated the premises about one month ago, a senior police officer said. During his tenancy, Maggo had installed an expensive toilet seat at the premises, which he wanted to remove now that he was no
longer using the property, the officer said. On Friday, Maggo sent some labourers for removing the seat which was objected by the landlord, following which the former tenant reached the spot along with a few people and started arguing with Prakash, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Harsha Vardhan said. Thereafter, Maggo and his associates started beating Prakash with sticks and fists, the DCP said. A case under sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 452 (housetrespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) and 34 (common intension) of the IPC has been registered in Dabri police station and necessary action will be taken, police added.

Divulging the contents of the manifesto, Congress’ chairman of Manifesto Committee Dhani Ram Shandil said the party has made an attempt to address issues like price rise, unemployment and matters concerning employees. The main highlights of the manifesto include the restoration of the old pension scheme and the filing of one lakh jobs in the first Cabinet meeting if the party is voted to power in the state. Banking on the anti-
incumbency factor, the party urged voters not to reelect the BJP in the state. Shandil said the BJP has failed to live up to the expectations of the people in the state and has not fulfilled the promises made five years ago. “The Congress has a tradition of fulfilling all its promises. Kharge said Modi came to power with a promise of two crore new jobs every year, but forget creating two crore new well-paying jobs, it took eight years for the BJP-led Centre to even think of filling 10 lakh existing central government vacancies. Prime Minister Modi is holding ‘Rozgar Melas’, handing out appointment letters, and has addressed the melas giving 75,000 letters in Delhi, 13,000 in Gujarat, and 3,000 in Jammu and Kashmir, Kharge said. “Today, when millions of youth search for jobs, PM is handing over some thousand appointment letters!” the Congress president said in a series of tweets. Kharge said rural India is facing the unprecedented challenge of unemployment. The average rural inemployment in the past 6 years is 7.02 per cent according to the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), he said. “Our youth is forced to wait for years to get a government job. All this
is because of lack of will and false promises by the BJP,” he said. Kharge claimed the situation is so desperate that for 40,000 posts under the Agnipath Scheme, the government received 35 lakh applications. “For a few thousand posts in Uttar Pradesh, 37 lakh applications were received. Post-graduates and PHDs are applying for jobs well below their qualifications,” he claimed. Kharge said lakhs of vacancies currently exist in the public sector, including in the Armed Forces, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), central government schools, higher education institutions, health institutions, PSUs, PSU Banks, police and courts. Noting that armed forces and CAPFs are important pillars for the security and safety of our nation, Kharge said currently there are more than 2 lakh vacancies in the Armed Forces and CAPFs. However, the recruitment in the last two years has remained absolutely “dismal”, he added.
Manish Sisodia’s Personal Assistant Picked Up by ED Agency News : New Delhi The Enforcement Directorate on Saturday picked up personal assistant of Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia. PA Devender Sharma is currently being questioned in connection with the Delhi liquor policy scam. Sources said that the central agency raided at least five locations in DelhiNCR and brought Sharma to the ED headquarters. No arrests have been made so far, sources added. Reacting to the development, the deputy CM said, “They got my house raided through false FIR, searched bank lockers, went to my hometown but found nothing. Today they got ED to raid my PA’s house and nothing was found there too. They (BJP) fear losing the election.” Reacting to Sisodia’s allegation, the BJP said, “If you or your PA is innocent, then go to court and get your FIR quashed. This party plays victim card. As I mentioned earlier, we all have Aadhar card, pan card, voter ID card but this party has victimhood card.” Earlier, the Central Bureau
of Investigation (CBI) had arrested Vijay Nair, another aide of Sisodia, over the scam. Nair is one of 15 persons, including Sisodia, named in the FIR. The AAP has described the case as politically motivated and claimed the BJP government is scared of Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s “emergence as a national alternative to Prime Minister Narendra Modi”. Delhi’s new liquor policy was rolled back in July by the Kejriwal government. On July 30, Sisodia, who also heads the Excise department in the national capital, announced the scrapping of the government’s new liquor rules under Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22, now, allowing only government-owned liquor vendors to operate in Delhi. The rollback came after Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena recommended a CBI probe in connection with the new policy regime, directing Delhi’s Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar to submit a detailed report of the “role of officers and civil servants in its illegal formulation, amendments and implementation.”

The Enforcement Directorate has arrested Abbas Ansari, Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party MLA from Mau and son of gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, in a money laundering case, officials said on Saturday. Abbas Ansari, 30, was arrested after a long questioning session at the federal agency’s office in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, they said. He has been arrested in the money laundering case being investigated against his father and family, they said. #BREAKING ED’s heat on Abbas Ansari. After hours of questioning in money laundering case, Abbas Ansari has been arrested. His father Mukhtar Ansari is also in jail. State-owned Bank of Baroda on Saturday reported a jump of 59 per cent in its net profit to Rs 3,313 crore for the second quarter ended September on the back of a decline in bad loans and rise in interest income. The lender had posted a net profit of Rs 2,088 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal. Its total income rose to Rs 23,080.03 crore for
the second quarter of 2022-23, compared to Rs 20,270.74 crore a year ago, it said in a regulatory filing. Net interest income grew by 34.5 per cent to Rs 10,714 crore. The lender improved its asset quality, with the gross non-performing assets (NPAs) coming down to 5.31 per cent of the gross advances by the end of September 2022, from 8.11 per cent in the year-ago period. Net NPAs fell to 1.16 per cent from 2.83 per cent.

Infibeam Avenues standalone Q2 net up 213% on strong growth in payments business Sunvilla News: Ahmedabad India’s first listed platform and payments infrastructure company, Infibeam Avenues Limited, has today announced its financial results for the quarter ended September 30, 2022. The company’s consolidated PAT for the said quarter has increased by 123% at Rs.40 cr YoY. The company’s income from operations stood at ₹435 crore for the quarter, up 53 per cent from ₹284 crore in the same quarter last year. Total expenses on a standalone basis increased by 53 per cent to ₹408 crore as against ₹266 crore in the same quarter last year. For the segment revenues, the company’s payments business grew by 61 per cent from ₹247 crore to ₹398 crore year--on-year. The e-commerce business grew marginally by about 3 per cent from ₹36 crore to ₹37 crore. On a consolidated basis, the company’s quarterly net profit stood at ₹40 crore for the quarter, up 123 per cent as against ₹18 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
