Communists In India Have To Fight Jointly On The Issues Of Caste And Class On behalf of the Communist Party of India, I extend REVOLUTIONARY greetings to the 23rdCongress of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). I express my sincere thanks for invitingme to the inaugural session. The 23rd Congress of the CPI(M) is taking place in Kerala, which made history fordemocratically electing a communist government six decades back in 1957. Since then, allthrough these years, Kerala has remained a unique centre of the left and democraticmovement in our country. The pre-eminence that Kerala achieved on this score is based onthe innumerable struggles and movements launched by the people, which immenselycontributed to the freedom movement and subsequently, during the postIndependenceperiod, for creating an alternative Communists-led model of development, which is people-centric.Dear Delegates, your Congress is taking place at a critical time, when the country is facingunprecedented attacks from the rightwing forces on the very fundamentals of IndianRepublic. However, the future is not bleak as the masses — workers, farmers, women, youth, students and other sections of the working people — are in no mood to take the antipeople and divisive moves lying low. They are out on the streets to safeguard their hard-earned rights. After the financial meltdown of 2008-09, the rise of rightwing authoritarianism became aglobal phenomenon as neo-liberal pro-corporate forces captured power in many parts of theworld. Those forces are bent upon destroying the progressive, inclusive and scientificachievements of humanity. Fascist forces have already expanded their bases alarmingly inGermany and other European countries, taking advantage of the unrest due to falling livingstandards, growing unemployment, inflation, etc. We see a steep arms race once again, fuelled largely by the US military industrial complex. The latest in the series of imperialistadvances is the attempt by imperialist forces led by the US and NATO to destabilize peaceand security, at the cost of the lives of both Russians and Ukrainians. In our neighbourhoodtoo, there is massive unrest and instability in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh,Nepal and Myanmar. It appears that each country is in turmoil for different reasons but thenefarious designs of international finance capital can be traced everywhere. This, of course,is being resisted in many a country, particularly in Latin America.Dear Comrades, more than seven decades after Independence, poverty and extremeinequality continue to plague our country. The situation has worsened in the last few years. Our country has seen a sharp decline on almost every development indicator, includingfundamentals like the Hunger Index. The concentration of wealth at the top of the society istaking alarming proportions while millions suffer in penury and deprivation. The COVID-19crisis has exposed the unequal nature of the much-trumpeted growth. The BJP government under Narendra Modi is engaged in subverting the basic values thatdefine our nation. Secularism, democracy, federalism, welfare-state and the independentcharacter of our foreign policy are all being subverted. All institutions like Judiciary, ElectionCommission and the Parliament are being undermined. Watchdogs of our polity like CBI andED are being used to intimidate political opponents contrary to their mandate. The BJP-RSSnever subscribed to our representative democracy and now they are subverting theconstitutional bedrock of our Republic. The unilateral abrogation of Article 370, bringing the discriminatory CAA, pro-corporate FarmLaws, Labour Codes are examples of the high-handed authoritarian Modi government. TheBJP is using their parliamentary majority to undermine the Parliament itself and making itsubservient to the whims of the ruling party, snatching its role as the supreme deliberativeinstitution of the nation, which is expected to represent the sovereign will of the people.Whoever questions the government and its policies is being slapped with sedition and thedraconian UAPA. Those, who look at the functioning of the government critically, are dubbedas antinationals and terrorists with the help of a compliant media. Activists working formarginalized sections and for human rights are being attacked with the might of the stateapparatus like in the BhimaKoregaon controversy.Rationality, scientific temper and constitutional morality, which are to be the stepping stonesof our secular democratic republic, are being dismantled systematically.Alongside dismantling the foundations of the Republic, the BJP-led Union government isalso ruthlessly - Kapilkumar M. Hirpara pursuing the neoliberal.

The Capitals made a bright start to the tournament, defeating fivetime champions Mumbai Indians by four wickets; however, the side fell to a 14-run loss in their second game against Gujarat Titans. Lucknow Super Giants, meanwhile, are on a superb run with two successive wins (against Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad). With

the arrival of Jason Holder in the side in its last game, Lucknow Super Giants have further bolstered their all-round attack. Their XI against the Sunrsiers saw three quality all-rounders – Holder, Krunal Pandya, and Deepak Hooda, even as the latter didn’t bowl throughout the

game. The Capitals, meanwhile, have handy all-round options in Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur among experienced players. Lalit Sharma could well be on his way to have his breakthrough season in the IPL as well, if he succeeds in capitalizing on his strong start. Regardless, LSG’s all-round strength poses a potential threat for the opposition and Capitals’ assistant coach Shane Watson doesn’t disagree. “Having quality all-round options is a huge advantage to the captain, there’s no doubt. If one of the main bowlers is having an off-day, you can mix and match.

She is excited about her upcoming film Liger as well. We caught up with her at a recent media interaction held for the highly anticipated event. Excerpts:LoadingView on InstagramHow does it feel that you will be performing in front of a huge live international audience?I was very nervous when I was young. I would watch every IIFA performance and would record it on my set-top box. I am nervous, but at the same time, I am very grateful that they have chosen me to perform in this award function. What numbers will you perform on?I don’t know what numbers I will be performing on. This is going to be a huge surprise for me as well.Which actor’s performances as an audience do you like the most?Salman (Khan) sir’s performance is what I love to watch the most. I have always been awed by his performances. He is so natural, and whenever he is performing, I never like to miss it. Even now, I will be waiting to watch him perform.Tell us something about your forthcoming film Liger...Liger is a pan-India film with Vijay Devarakonda. It’s a popcorn masala film which is the kind of cinema that I loved to watch when I was growing up. I am happy as it’s exactly like that only. It has every genre in it. I am very excited for it to release soon. I hope you guys enjoy the film. I am very confident as this is one of the films which will make you feel good after watching it.Who is your biggest critic that you listen to and look up to?Honestly, I am my biggest critic. My parents (Chunky and Bhavana Pandey) are my critics but are my cheerleaders also. They love me so much they don’t tell me so many things. My younger sister (Rysa), who is a filmmaker herself, is my biggest critic.

Agency News: Mumbai Abhishek Bachchan, Nimrat Kaur, Yami Gautam Dhar, Manu Rishi Chadha and othersRating: 3 starsPlatforms: Netflix and JioCinemaGanga Ram Chaudhary (Abhishek Bachchan), the Chief Minister of an imaginary state Harit Pradesh, is merely 8th grade passed but yet privileged of law and order. He is corrupt, often ridicules his IAS secretary and preaches that education is a sheer waste of time. His wife, Bimla Devi (Nimrat Kaur), a devoted homemaker and a wife in every possible manner, takes care of

the cattle and Ganga too. But when the curtain raises of Chaudhary’s sins, he is sent to judicial custody, and Bimla has to save Ganga’s crumbling pride. Things become difficult inside for Ganga when Jyoti Deswal (Yami Gautam Dhar), a new SP, joins the cell. Will Ganga compromise on his fancy life in prison? Will Bimla Devi be able to save the sinking empire of Ganga or overrule her husband’s orders? This forms the crux of ‘Dasvi’. Debutant filmmaker Tushar Jalota brings a mildly fun story of a popular politician couple loosely based on the life of Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi with the twist of right to education law. However, he schemingly made ‘Dasvi’ with political jargon but loses the grip in portions. Tushar kept the momentum going on throughout but dipped post-interval with the pre-independent India gyaan. But again, he should be given a little concession since ‘Dasvi’ is a spoof with some great dialogues and one-liners by Suresh Nair and Ritesh Shah.i t seems like producers at Maddock Films are the flag bearer of the films based on the educational system in current times. After the late Irrfan Khan-starrer.
