Nobel Peace Prize awarded to Ales Bialiatski, two organisations Agency News: Washington The Nobel Peace Prize this year has been awarded to human rights advocate Ales Bialiatski from Belarus, the Russian human rights organisation Memorial, and the Ukrainian human rights organisation Center for Civil Liberties. The Peace Prize laureates represent civil society in their home countries. They have, for many years, promoted the right to criticise power and protect the fundamental rights of citizens. The Committee lauded their respective “outstanding effort to document war crimes, human rights violations and
the abuse of power”. The winners were announced on Friday at the Norwegian Nobel Institute in Oslo, by Committee Chair Berit ReissAndersen. Ales Bialiatski was one of the initiators of the democracy

Consulate General of India in San Francisco is in contact with relatives of the four members of Indian origin Sikh family, who were murdered in California and is providing all the necessary assistance, India said on Friday adding that the Merced county police is investigating the matter. A Sikh family of four, including 36-year-old Jasdeep Singh, 27-year-old Jasleen Kaur, their eight-month-old child Aroohi Dheri, along with 39-year-old Amandeep Singh were abducted. Later, the bodies of four family members, who originally hail from Punjab in India were discovered lying close to each other by a farm worker in a remote orchard in Merced county, Sheriff Vern Warnke said on Wednesday. Terming the incident “sad and unfortunate”, official spokeperson from Ministry of External Affairs Arindam Bagchi said, “Our consulate general had put out some a tweet earlier. They are is in contact with family. We are aware of this. Merced county police is investigating it. We are in touch. The investigation is ongoing. This is a very shocking incident.” During a weekly presser, Bagchi said that India will provide all the
assistance that it can. The IndianOrigin family was kidnapped at gunpoint - an abduction recorded on surveillance video - from their trucking business Monday morning in Merced, authorities said. Investigators learned they were missing after a family vehicle was found abandoned and on fire that morning. Later the police discovered the bodies of all four family members. The suspect in the kidnapping and murders of four Indian-origin family members in California, including a baby, was arrested late Thursday. Jesus Manuel Salgado was arrested on four counts of murder and four counts of kidnapping. The suspect attempted suicide sometime before he was taken into custody, and he has been receiving medical attention. Salgado was previously in prison for nearly a decade after being convicted of attempted false imprisonment, first-degree robbery and possession of a controlled substance, according to records from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

state government allotted 12 hectares of land to develop the project. An amount of Rs 80.66 crore has been spent on a 50:50 basis by both central and state governments in two phases – Rs 69 crore in Phase I and Rs 11.66 crore in Phase II. While the day-time power is supplied through solar panels, in the evening, the BESS provides power supply to the houses. The heritage lighting and 3D projection at Sun temple will operate on solar energy as well. The 3D projection will educate visitors on the history of Modhera. The projection will operate for 15-18 minutes every evening. Visitors can enjoy the heritage lightings from 6pm to 10pm. The 3D projection, meanwhile, will be operational from 7pm to 7:30pm every evening.
As Delhi HC Terms Lumpy Skin Disease ‘Concerning’, A Sneak Peak Into How States Are Battling Virus Agency News : New Delhi The Delhi High Court on Friday said that the lumpy skin disease situation is concerning and the matter should be heard expeditiously. disease.He had argued that about 70,000 cattle heads have died so far due to the disease, which has spread to Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh. “This disease has knocked the doors of Delhi too, and has started affecting cows in the national capital. The infected cows need medical treatment at the earliest. This disease can turn into an epidemic.

Iranian security forces deployed at universities in several cities on Wednesday, witnesses said, stepping up efforts to quell more than two weeks of protests ignited by the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in the custody of morality police. The nationwide unrest sparked by her death has spiralled into the biggest challenge to Iran’s clerical leaders in years, with protesters calling for the downfall of the Islamic Republic founded in 1979. Riot police fanned out in the cities of Urmia, Tabriz, Rasht and the capital Tehran, particularly around universities which have been a focal point of protests in recent days, the witnesses said. “There are lots of security forces around Tehran University. I am even scared to leave the campus. Lots of police vans are waiting outside to arrest students,” said a student in Tehran. Rights groups say thousands have been arrested and hundreds injured in the crackdown waged by security forces including the Basij, a volunteer militia affiliated with Iran’s Revolutionary Guards. Rights groups put the death toll at over 150. Authorities have reported numerous deaths among the security forces, accusing foreign adversaries including the United States of meddling to destabilise Iran. Videos shared on social media on Wednesday showed high school girls in Tehran taking off their headscarves and chanting “death to (Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali) Khamenei”. In footage said to have been filmed at a school in Shiraz on Tuesday, about 50 female pupils surrounded a member of the Basij who had been invited to give a speech, shouting “Basij get lost” and “death to Khamenei”. Reuters could not independently verify the videos. People from different layers of the society across Iran have joined protests since Amini, an Iranian Kurd, died after being detained in Tehran on September 13 for “inappropriate attire”. The death of a 17-year-old girl since the start of the protests has become another focal point of protester anger, with activists on Twitter saying Nika Shakarami was killed in Tehran while demonstrating over Amini’s death. State media said on Wednesday a judicial case had been opened into Shakarami’s death, citing officials claiming it had nothing to do with the unrest, and that she had fallen off a roof and her body contained no bullet wounds. Analysts do not believe the clerical establishment is close to being toppled despite growing frustration over strict social and political limitations imposed over the past four decades since the fall of the US-backed Shah. The government has ordered an investigation into Amini’s death, which Khamenei has said left him “heart-broken”. But underlining unbending views in government, Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi accused demonstrators of creating “hideous scenes” in the name of women’s rights. Vahidi, the former commander of the Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force, defended the dress code law, saying protesters saw “freedom in the nakedness and shamelessness of women”. Amini’s death and the crackdown have compounded tensions in Iran’s already difficult relations with the West, deepening rifts at a time when negotiations to revive Tehran’s 2015 nuclear deal with world powers have stalled. Karnataka at Forefront in Agri Digitalisation: Bommai Tells Amit Shah Pointing out that the state had already initiated digitalisation with Bhumi software and included 62 lakh landowners and 16 lakh landless farmers in the software. Pointing out that the state had already initiated digitalisation with Bhumi software and

Farmers are doing the crop survey on their own and have done the survey of 16,584 crops of the total 212 crore agricultural plots. “To avoid any complications, steps are taken for all farmers to do the survey themselves. So far, they have done it very honestly. Natural farming is a longtime project and the research and certification are very important.” The state with five agriculture and horticulture universities has taken up natural farming in around 1,000 acres of land under the continuous monitoring of varsities. “As many as 2.4 lakh hectare of land is being converted into natural farming from organic farming and an additional one lakh hectare will be converted into natural farming by March 2023,” Bommai added.

The court said that as per the statement of the Waqf Board’s CEO, it was “prima facie shown that the accused being the Chairman of Delhi Waqf Board went ahead with the recruitment in violation of the instruction of the Delhi government, just to favour his relatives and members of his constituency.” But, there was no material on record to show that

This is the first attempt to privatise a public sector lender, which had also been opposed by the All India Bank Officers’ Association, that had called a strike against it in March. As part of the Union Budget in FY22, the Indian government had announced plans to privatise two public sector banks as part of its divestment push. Although assets have been identified for divestment in four years, selling off Air India took a long time, after which the privatisation of BPCL has also been stalled.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday released a Concept Note on Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), to create awareness about CBDCs in general and the planned features of the digital rupee in particular. The central bank said it will soon commence limited pilot launches of e-rupee for specific use cases. “The e-rupee will provide an additional option to the currently available forms of money. It is substantially not different from banknotes, but being digital it is likely to be easier, faster and cheaper. It also has all the transactional benefits of other forms of digital money,” the central bank said in the note.
