Ahead Of Gujarat Polls, 10- Another midday meal Time MLA Mohansinh Rathva horror story: 50 middle Kerala Journalists Hold Protest March school students fall ill in Quits Congress, Joins BJP to Raj Bhavan Bihar’s Bhojpur Sunvilla News: Ahmedabad

Mohansinh Rathva, a 10-time Congress MLA in Gujarat, has quit the party less than a month to go for the assembly election in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state, where the Congress has been struggling to come to power for over two decades. Mr Rathva, 78, joined the BJP this evening. The MLA, which represents the Chhota Udaipur (Scheduled Tribes, or ST) constituency, has sent his resignation letter to Gujarat Congress boss Jagdish Thakor. Mr Rathva is popular with tribals in his stronghold. Before 2012,

he represented Pavi-Jetpur (ST) constituency in Chhota Udaipur district. He recently announced he would not contest the Gujarat election this time, but wants to see his son, Rajendrasinh Rathva, fight from his seat. On whether the BJP would give his son a ticket to contest the election, the MLA said he is “100 per cent” sure. ”However, I have

not sought a ticket. I am getting old now. My son Rajendrasinh is an engineer. He is BE (Bachelor of Engineering) civil. He was having a feeling that we should join BJP,” Mr Rathva at the BJP headquarters. Mr Rathva denied he left the Congress because the party did not give a ticket to his son. “The Congress never said they will not give me a ticket (for my son). I decided before Congress said anything about it. I was impressed by the work done by the BJP government and PM Narendra Modi in our tribal areas. That is the reason why I have decided to join BJP,” he added.

Last lunar eclipse of the year in Delhi, Noida, Patna, Lucknow, Bhopal, Ranchi and Varanasi Agency News: New Delhi

When the Earth comes in between the Moon and the Sun is when a lunar eclipse takes place. A lunar eclipse occurs on a full moon night. A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon in such a way that the Earth’s shadow covers all or part of the Moon. In this situation, when the earth blocks the sun’s rays from reaching the moon, then a lunar eclipse is visible in that part of the earth. Total Eclipse will be seen from Eastern and North East India. Total lunar eclipse will start at 3.46 pm IST. So when Moon rises in India, it would be under eclipse. Nowhere in India start of eclipse would be visible. In Eastern and North Eastern India people will see moon coming out of eclipse from 5.11 pm when the Total Eclipse ends. In other parts of the country people will only be able to see Partial eclipse, because moon will be below horizon before that. At the time of the moonrise, there will be an eclipse in all places in India. However, the beginning of the partial and complete phase of the eclipse will

not be visible from any place in India because this event would have started before the moonrise in India. The moon of a total eclipse is also called Red Moon or Bloody Moon. The moon does not disappear completely during a total lunar eclipse. Its lustre is almost gone and the colour can be red, grey or orange. This happens because the Moon has no light of its own. The moon shines with sunlight. But in an eclipse, when the Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon, the direct light coming from the Sun does not reach the Moon. However, some of the sun’s rays reflected from the earth’s atmosphere reach the moon. The atmosphere radiates the blue colour of the sun’s rays and some red rays reach the moon, due to which the moon appears red. Last lunar eclipse of the year in Delhi, Noida, Patna, Lucknow, Bhopal, Ranchi and Varanasi.

Hundreds of journalists under the aegis of the Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) on Tuesday marched to Raj Bhavan here in protest against Governor Arif Mohammed Khan who had humiliated two journalists and ousted them from his press conference. The protest march, which began from Kanakakunnu in the city and culminated ahead of the main gate of the Raj Bhavan, was inaugurated by Leader of Opposition and senior Congress leader V D Satheesan. Former State Finance Minister and Left leader T M Thomas Isaac, CITU leader Anathalavattom Anandan, Left leader and MP John Brittas were among others who participated in the protest march. An agitated Kerala Governor had on Monday bluntly told journalists representing Kairali News and MediaOne television channels to “get out” of a press conference here and asserted that he would not talk to them. The KUWJ said it “decries all attempts on part of Kerala Raj Bhavan to interfere in the free and independent functioning of journalists and the

selective denial of journalistic access.” In a letter addressed to the Governor, KUWJ asked Khan to “rethink” prejudices against some media houses and ensure that the right to practice freedom of profession is enjoyed by all journalists. While the ruling CPI(M) and the main opposition Congress termed his behaviour “fascist,” the KUWJ demanded that he rectify his “mistake” and express regret for his “undemocratic” action. Khan, who is at loggerheads with the Marxist party-led government over several issues, told the journalists to “get out.” He blamed Kairali for its party affiliation and the other channel for campaigning against him. Kairali News is a CPI(M) managed channel and MediaOne is backed by a Muslim organisation. KUWJ also held protests at Thrissur and Kozhikode.

Israel’s longest-serving prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, appears poised to return to power after his Likud party and its allies claimed a majority in the country’s parliament, the Knesset, last week. Yet Mr Netanyahu’s political comeback, 15 months after he had to leave office following Israel’s last election, could portend more political uncertainty than stability in the country and the broader Middle East. The government he will lead will be the most religiously conservative and openly anti-Palestinian in Israel’s 74 years of existence as a modern entity. It will likely include Itamar Ben-Gvir, a poster child of the Israeli far-Right, who has called for the expulsion of Arabs viewed as not loyal enough to Israel and has celebrated a terrorist who killed Muslim worshippers in 1994. In fact, Mr Netanyahu’s government will depend on the support of Mr Ben-Gvir and other similar extreme Right politicians for its survival. Israel’s new government will therefore be under pressure to adopt even more radical policies towards Palestinians, whether it is through their political and economic marginalisation or further illegal occupation of their territories. At a time when Mr Netanyahu faces charges of corruption and being in office is his only guarantee against prosecution, it will not be easy even for a master tactician like him to resist those calls from allies. Yet, such moves could endanger the diplomatic gains Israel has made in recent years, especially under Mr Netanyahu, when the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco all recognised Israel in 2020. More recently, Lebanon effectively recognised Israel through a maritime deal. Relations with Saudi Arabia are also better than they have ever been, even though Riyadh is yet to formally recognise Israel. A sharp escalation in provocations against Palestinians would make it difficult for Arab nations to justify this rapprochement to their own people: the Palestinian cause continues to enjoy deep support on the Arab street. Mr Netanyahu is also likely to revive his public efforts to scuttle any possible nuclear deal between Washington and Tehran. That could lead to tensions with the United States of America and, of course, with Iran. For India, the change in Israel’s leadership will only build on the growing warmth between their governments: Mr Netanyahu counts Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a personal friend. But India must stay careful. If Mr Netanyahu plays with fire, India must make - Kapilkumar M. Hirpara sure it does not get burned.

Gujarat Polls: Chidambaram Targets BJP, Says No One Apologised or Resigned for Morbi Tragedy Sunvilla News : Ahmadabad Ahead of the upcoming Gujarat Assembly polls, senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Tuesday hit out at the BJP over its “arrogance”, saying no one so far has apologised or resigned for the Morbi bridge collapse tragedy which claimed 135 lives. Chidambaram, who was here to campaign for his party, also claimed that Gujarat was being “run from Delhi” and not by the chief minister of the state. The Gujarat Assembly polls will be held in two phases on December 1 and 5 and the counting of votes will be taken up on December 8. On October 30, a suspension bridge on the Machchuu river in Gujarat’s Morbi district collapsed, claiming 135 lives. Chidambaram said, “As per my knowledge nobody has apologised or resigned for such a big tragedy. This is due

to the BJP’s arrogance. If such a thing would have happened in a foreign country, there would have been immediate resignations.” “They have not apologised as the government here thinks they will easily win the coming elections and they need not be accountable for the incident ,” he said. Asked if he thinks central probe agencies like the CBI and ED were being misused, Chidambaram claimed that “they are handmaidens of the BJP. Ninety five per cent of the arrests they are making are of politicians of opposition parties.”

Agency News : Shimla Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Tuesday said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was staying away from campaigning in Himachal Pradesh to avoid taking responsibility for the party’s defeat in the upcoming elections. “Where is Rahul Gandhi, where is he missing? He is on a (Bharat Jodo) Yatra, but why such indifference with Himachal. Congress’ entire leadership, by that I mean effective leadership, why they have such indifference towards Himachal,” Prasad said in a press conference here. “Poll campaigning will end in a day or two, but neither Rahul, nor his mother (Sonia Gandhi) were seen here,” he said. Prasad said that Rahul Gandhi is scared of losing the election hence preventing the loss of face by not turning up in the state. “But why is Rahul Gandhi not campaigning in Himachal, we want to ask. Is Congress party scared of a loss? And there are reasons for that, bylections were held in seven assembly constituencies in six states and BJP contested on six seats and won four. Congress did not win even one seat and lost and also lost security deposit,” he said. “In Telangana, from where Rahul Gandhi’s

Yatra is entering Maharashtra, in the byelection (Munugode in Telangana), Congress candidate loses security deposit. “So, the clear reason for Rahul Gandhi not coming to Himachal for campaigning is to avoid having to take responsibility for the loss in HP elections,” he said. “Win and loss are part of elections. Their leaders will come on a retreat in Himachal, but when it comes to connecting with people as part of a political process, then they will stay away, what kind of politics is this?” Prasad asked. “So, I clearly believe that Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi are not coming because they understand what the result is going to be,” he added. Himachal Pradesh goes to polls on November 12. Congress is eyeing to wrest power from ruling BJP, which claims that people will vote them back on the basis of allround development they have carried out.

The party had claimed it would begin the yatra after creating an atmosphere of positivity and cordiality but in Uttarakhand it has started so with levelling allegations against the government,” state BJP media incharge Manveer Chauhan said. Accusing the party of doing politics over the Ankita Bhandari murder case which is being probed by a special investigation team (SIT), Chauhan said it was doing so deliberately to divert attention from factionalism within the party. “Senior leaders have kept themselves away from the

Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Kamal Nath on Tuesday said there was no pressure on party workers to participate in Rahul Gandhi’s ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra. The state unit has not issued any fiat asking workers to take part in the Yatra, he told reporters here after chairing a review meeting related to Gandhi’s foot-march which will enter the state from Maharashtra this month. “There is no pressure on any worker to take part in this historic Yatra, nor have we issued any directive to them to get associated with the Yatra. Despite that, all party workers will join it with their heart,” Nath said. Bharat Jodo Yatra did not have any political objective but was aimed at saving India’s unity in diversity, culture and Constitution, he said. Party have come in for fierce criticism ahead of elections to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said he was “the darling of the people” and alleged that the BJP was troubled by the love he was getting. Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party have come in for fierce criticism ahead of elections to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and the Gujarat Assembly with BJP leaders calling it “the most corrupt party”. “Before Punjab (Assembly) elections, PM (Narendra Modi) said Kejriwal is a terrorist. Home Minister (Amit Shah) set up an inquiry. What happened to it? Now, before the Gujarat and the MCD polls, they are saying Kejriwal is corrupt. If Kejriwal is a terrorist or is corrupt, arrest him, no?” Kejriwal said in a tweet in Hindi. “Kejriwal is neither a terrorist not corrupt. Kejriwal is

‘janta ka laadla’ (darling of the people). The BJP has a problem with him.” The 250-ward Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) goes to polls on December 4 while counting will take place on December 7. The BJP, which has governed the civic bodies in Delhi since 2007, is pitted against a resurgent Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress. In the 2017 civic body polls, the BJP had won 181 of the 270 wards. No polling could be held on two seats due to the death of candidates. The Aam Aadmi Party had won 48 wards, while the Congress managed to win 27. Earlier this year, the Centre unified the city’s three municipal corporations under the MCD and reduced the total number of wards to 250 from 272.

Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra on Tuesday demanded an apology from Rahul Gandhi over Karnataka Congress leader Satish Jarkiholi’s remarks claiming the word ‘Hindu’ is Persian and has a very dirty meaning. Mishra said he will write a letter in this regard to senior Congress leader Gandhi. During an event in Nippani on Sunday, Karnataka Congress Working President Jarkiholi said, “They speak about Hindu Dharm…this that, where did the Hindu word come from? Is it ours? It is Persian. Persian is from Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan. What is Bharat’s relationship with it? Then, how

did Hindu become yours? There should be a debate on this.” The All India Congress Committee (AICC) later termed it as deeply unfortunate and rejected it “unequivocally”. Reacting to Jarkiholi’s statement, MP Home Minister Mishra while talking to reporters here said Rahul Gandhi had tried to define ‘Hindu’ and ‘Hindutva’ during a rally in Rajasthan and now Congress leaders were making controversial comments during his Bharat Jodo Yatra.

Raghu looked so dismayed at what had happened just now. Mental conditioning coach Paddy Upton went and spoke to Rohit and tried to assess the conditions and much to the team’s relief Rohit soon entered the batting area. But Raghu was nowhere to be seen even as Rohit enquired for him. “Where is Raghu? Bring him back,” Rohit was heard telling other support staff, and Raghu

returned to the nets with a beaming face. Rohit soon asked Raghu to bowl at him and the latter did so but not with full force. Hari, the other throw down specialist with the Indian team, too joined the session and Rohit took it easy for the first few balls to get the feeling back to his hand before batting normally. But Rohit’s propensity to put a comforting arm around a rather scared support staff was touching indeed. Rohit’s presence is important for India even though he has not really fired with the bat except a fifty against the Netherlands. However, England are not taking him lightly based on current touch as they know the perils of such naivety.

“One minute down, next minute up!” This is how former England captain and renowned commentator Nasser Hussain described the Pakistan cricket team back in 2019. This is probably the best line to describe Pakistan, and they prove it in almost every major event! One day, they beat the best of the teams, and on the next day, they end up losing to minnows! This makes them the most unpredictable team in world cricket. In the ongoing T20 World Cup, they have had a similar ride so far! They started the tournament with a thriller against India! They put up a tough fight but fell short at the end. The way they played in the first game, it seemed Pakistan were a top contender and would make it to the semi-finals without much trouble. But guess what?

They lost the next game against Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe, one of the weakest sides in Group B, completely rattled them and clinched an unexpected win! This almost completely wiped out Pakistan’s chances of making it to the semis! Even skipper Babar Azam said that it would be tough for them to go through after two back-to-back defeats. Then came the third game, where Pakistan beat the Netherlands rather easily! However, the real challenge was awaiting them. They were up against South Africa, the then-table-toppers and the only unbeaten team in the competition!

‘He Can Get Hit in the Face or Throat’: Coach Lauds Suryakumar Yadav’s Courage to Hit 360-degree Shots Agency News : New Delhi Suryakumar Yadav’s shot selection is one thing that has lit up the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Every time he walks out to bat, he showcases a new way of clearing the fence, no matter where the bowler pitches the ball. Once he is set in the middle, he can pick the ball

from wherever he wants to and steal a boundary. His acrobatic batting was on display at the Melbourne Cricket Ground where India took on Zimbabwe in their last Super 12 tie. India got 79 runs on the board in the last 4 overs of their innings. The credit goes to Surya who launched an assault on the Zimbabwe bowlers.

According to the ICICI Bank website, “The RBI replaced the base rate system for determining interest rates with the MCLR system on Apr 01, 2016. While borrowers who were issued loans before Apr 01, 2016, are still under the old base rate and benchmark prime lending rate (BPLR) system, they can opt to move to the MCLR rate if they think it’s beneficial.”

Hospitality sector bounces back from pandemic onslaught; yet hotel bookings fall by 4% indicating economy slowdown Agency News : New Delhi In one of the indicators of the Indian economy has slowed down, a fall in hotel bookings by close to 4% has been observed between April to September this year. Data from JLL India, a global company providing real estate services across segments, shows that Quarteron-Quarter, there is a dip in hotel bookings in the six Indian cities by almost 3.8%. An indication of the Indian economy getting revived and slowing down. The fall was witnessed in Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR) in Q3 2022 (July to September) as compared to Q2 2022 (April to June). “This is due to reduced corporate travel amidst long weekends and festivals,” reasoned JLL’s Hotel Momentum India. The geographies covered

include Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi and Goa. Though the sectoral report claims holidays as the reason. A look at the public holidays shows that between April to June there were only three public holidays during weekdays as compared to half a dozen between July to September. Secondly, the same report states that the demand for hotel rooms across business cities remained strong driven by Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) despite long weekends. Economic analysts from across the globe have substantially revised India’s economic growth. For example, Moody’s Investors Service slashed India’s Gross Domestic Product growth to slow from 8.3% in 2021 to 7.7% in 2022 and further fall to 5.2% in 2023.
