AK-67, leaves battered BJP with just 3 Seats, Congress only Zero

AAPregisters a lanslide victory in Delhi, wipes out BJPand Congress New Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party registered an emphatic and decisive victory in Delhi elections, effectively halting the Narendra Modi wave that had swept the BJP to power at the Centre and three states. In a stunning election result, Kejriwal’s AAP won 67 seats in the 70-member Delhi Assembly and trounced its arch-rival BJP with the party winning only three seats. The BJP, which was hoping to sail through on the Modi charisma, could not even ensure a win for its chief

ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi. She lost to AAP’s S K Bagga from the Krishna Nagar constituency, considered a safe seat which had sent BJP’s Dr Harsh Vardhan five times to the Delhi Assembly. “I couldn’t live up to their expectations,” Bedi said. All AAP top leaders, including Kejriwal’s second in command Manish Sisodia, registered wins in the polls. Amid chanting of ‘5 saal Kejriwal’ by a jubilant gathering of his supporters outside the office, Kejriwal thanked his voters.

Emerging out of the ‘nowfamous’ balcony of the AAP office in central Delhi’s Patel Nagar, Kejriwal said, “This is the victory of honest politics. Like Congress, BJP lost because of its arrogance.” The party was seen to be in the wilderness

Rohtak gangrape and murder: Ninth accused reportedly commits suicide in Delhi

New Delhi The Haryana Police had on Monday arrested eight youths in Rohtak and promised action in case of any lapse by its personnel. A ninth accused, who was absconding, has reportedly committed suicide in Delhi’s Bawana area after consuming poison on Monday evening, the Indian Express reported quoting police officials. Meanwhile,

the Congress latched on to the incident, which came to light on 4 February, targetting the BJP government in the state on the law and order situation, saying it was "yet to wake up from the slumber", and demanded reconstitution of SIT under an inspector general-level officer to go into the horrific incident. "The case has been cracked and eight youths out of total

nine have been arrested from Gaddikhera village, some 9 km from Rohtak," he had said. In a grim reminder of the 16 December gangrape in Delhi, a 28-year-old woman with learning difficulties from Nepal was brutally raped and murdered, and her body dumped in a field at a village on the Rohtak-Hisar highway here. The woman had been brutally assaulted as the post-mortem report mentions several injuries on her private parts. The victim's sister had lodged a complaint with police on 1 February and on 4 February the woman's body was found from the fields in Akbarpur village with several injury marks on it, Rohtak superintendent of police Shashank Anand had said. On the issue of alleged police apathy, the DGP said

after it quit power in February. With no clear majority to any party in 2013, AAP had taken outside support from the Congress. But it was a marriage destined to fail. Kejriwal left mid-way and the party was losing its support base and invited public anger. But, in a remarkable recovery, AAP reconnected with the middle and working class voters and a solid base for this resounding victory was laid. Sisodia said, “I think the love and enthusiasm shown for a party is historic. Now, there will be a positive competition between the Centre and the state (Delhi). So, far it was negative competition and competition of corruption.” The rout for the Congress continued as the party lost all eight seats it had won in the last Assembly elections in 2013. After the disastrous performance in the Lok Sabha elections last year, this is the fourth successive loss for the party in Assembly polls. Soon after the results were out, its party face in Delhi, Ajay Maken, resigned as Congress general secretary owning responsibility for the defeat. “Whenever we went to

people with our manifesto didn’t have an elected promises like cheap government since February electricity and right to shelter, people questioned why did you not do in last 15 years. We have to rebuild that credibility among people. We will re-invent the party,” he said. The results are a shocker for the BJP which had unleashed its entire machinery in the elections to win Delhi which

Kejriwal to take oath on Feb. 14 Exactly an year after he had resigned as Delhi Chief Minister, AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal will be taking oath as the CM again on February 14 at Ramlila Maidan. “Arvind Kejriwal will take oath as the Delhi Chief Minister on February 14 at Ramlila Maidan,” AAP leader Ashutosh said after the party’s landslide victory in the Delhi Assembly polls. Mr. Kejriwal emerged victorious in the high-profile New Delhi constituency by

handing over a crushing defeat to BJP’s Nupur Sharma by a huge margin of 31,583 votes. After AAP had thrown a surprise by uprooting Congress out of power in 2013 Assembly elections as a debutant party, Mr. Kejriwal had taken oath as Delhi’s seventh Chief Minister on December 28 at a public ceremony in the historic Ramlila Maidan, the venue of the Lokpal movement. He had defeated the threetime Delhi Chief Minister

Shiela Dixit on her hometurf by a margin of 25,864 votes. However, after serving the government for 49 days, he had resigned on February 14 last year after his push for the anticorruption Jan Lokpal Bill was blocked in the state Assembly by BJP and Congress. AAP MLAs to meet: With the party securing a landslide win in the Delhi Assembly polls, the victorious AAP candidates will be getting together for a meeting here this evening.

Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi set Facebook, RCom tie up to to look after eighteen 'important' ministries

provide free access to Internet

Mumbai Facebook has tied up with Reliance Communications to offer free access to subscribers of Anil Ambaniled firm to the social networking site as well as about three-dozen general information websites. With Facebook seeking to connect more people in the world's second-biggest mobile market with Internet, India will become the first country in Asia to get the

new Internet.org app. The app targets mobile phone users. "We still have a long way to go to connect India," Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg wrote on his Facebook page. "But I'm optimistic that by getting free basic services into people's hands, more change can follow pretty rapidly." Besides accessing Facebook, RCom subscribers can also access 33 websites offering news and information on weather, jobs, government services, and health without incurring data charges. "About 70 per cent of people in India don't have access to the Internet. We need to connect a billion

people to the Internet. We are happy to announce that with Facebook we will offer free access to 33 popular websites," RCom Chief Executive Officer for Consumer Business, Gurdeep Singh, said here. The free websites include Facebook, ecommerce portal OLX, Cleartrip, TimesJobs, Babajob and sports website ESPN Cricinfo. The service has been initially launched for Reliance customers in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Chennai, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. "We are committed to launching it on pan-india level within 90 days," Singh said.

The Chief Minister has also expanded the work of other colleagues by allotting them two additional departments apart from those previously held by them. With the strength of the Bihar Cabinet now reduced to just nine,

Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Tuesday said that he himself will look after 18 important departments. Earlier, he was holding charge of just nine departments. He will now handle Home, Finance,

Cabinet Secretariat, General Administration, Vigilance, Election, Energy, SC and ST Welfare, Information and Public Relations, Disaster Management, Commercial Taxes, Building and Construction, Water Resources, Environment and Forests, Health, Sugarcane Industries, Backward and Extremely Backward Welfare, as well as Animal Husbandry and Fisheries departments. The Chief Minister has also expanded the work of other colleagues by allotting them two additional departments apart from those previously held by them. All these departments had fallen vacant after 20

Cabinet ministers had resigned on February 7. On the re-allocation of departments, Principal Secretary (Cabinet Coordination) B Pradhan said, "We received a letter from Principal Secretary to Governor's Secretariat today about allocation of portfolio to the ministers. Each minister has been given two additional departments, while the remaining have been kept by the Chief Minister." Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh, who is close to Manjhi, has been given additional charge of Food and Civil Supplies as well as Excise and Registration departments.

The obvious and not-so-obvious reasons for AAP victory First the obvious. The surprising part of the result is not the victory of the AAP but the huge margin. This clearly indicates that this is not a negative vote. There are two important reasons for the AAP victory. The first is that a great majority of Delhi – especially the deprived – found the 49-day government to be one which had yielded positive results: petty exactions by police and government personnel had disappeared, electricity and water bills were favourably impacted for the consumer. Retrospectively this seems to have produced a sense that AAP provided a representative party of governance and was not just a party of Opposition. The second important feature is that AAP not only managed to survive the Lok Sabha verdict but actually consolidated their organisation. Elected councillors implemented schemes with their allotted money and the conviction of volunteers was energised again by the Delhi Dialogues which brought them into close contact with local needs of especially the underprivileged and produced local manifestos. All of this brought back the involvement with practical activity and the belief in using the political machinery to serve the nation, which is the real core of the conviction that propels the AAP volunteers. These initiatives kept alive the memory of the benefits of the 49-day government, gave conviction to the volunteers and produced a sense of participation within the processes of party functioning in the voters. In general what we are seeing is a politics of practical results, of which the main beneficiaries are the underprivileged. These benefits may not be very large – indeed may be much less than what is promised by election manifestoes. But it is a visible testament to the fact that voting can make a difference to one’s everyday life - after the elections are over. What is surprising here is that the middle class too appears to have been influenced by a wave that was apparent only in the lower sections of the social ladder – quite reversing the trend where any pro-poor measure was seen as populist and hence illegitimate. Clearly, in its success in the city state of Delhi, the AAP has tapped into an urban phenomenon. This condition of acute diversity - regional, caste, religion - in a megapolis appears to have made the language of class politics acceptable as a universal language that can overdetermine and bring together the pulls of region, religion, and caste. Further, it’s a language of class that does not threaten the middle class. The latter seems comfortable with a politics that aids the poor without posing a danger to their status and interests. This is a new language of class politics. Its bedrock is a politics of delivery that can bring together different classes. On the other side, the BJP’s dismal showing is as astounding. The first important reason is the unabated anti minorities campaign by the RSS. This has the obvious impact of posing a security issue for the minorities and for committed secularists, but it has also exceeded the amount of negative religious mobilisation that even committed voters of the BJP may be prepared to tolerate. And across all sections, the statements and actions of the Hindutva parivar has been seen as a distraction from concrete issues of livelihood and living conditions. To this may be added the perceived nonperformance of the BJP government especially Mr Modi who has projected himself as the face of the government.

Raveena takes a U-turn on Bombay Velvet appearance

After claiming that she was no longer a part of Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet, actor Raveena Tandon has made a U-turn saying she is in the period drama. In a recorded telephonic interview on January 22 she had said, "I am no more a part of Bombay Velvet because everything has changed. The whole scenario has changed, story has changed and I don't know what all has

changed... So I told Anurag and his team 'listen guys, it is better that 'I don't do it only'." Raveena took to Twitter to say that she was, in fact, a part of the Ranbir Kapoor-Anushka Sharma starrer. "Ok so fed up of misinterpretations of what I said !!! 1) just doing a F R I E N D L Y APPEARANCE for MADHU and @anuragkashyap72 in Bombay velvet.

“I got all the respect and confidence of the top leaders including Narendra Modi and Amit Shah as well as ordinary party workers. But I ask for their forgiveness as I failed to to carry that confidence and responsibility,” - A crestfallen BJP chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi told BJP’s massive defeat in elections.

The actress took to her official Twitter account to express her unpleasing feeling due to sickness. Sonam tweeted a picture with caption, “Hate being

sick… Oowie.” During her time in hospital, Sonam finished reading Rajesh Khanna’s biography by Gautam Chintamani. Dolly Ki Doli star even posted a picture of the book. The caption read, “Just finished reading #rajeshkhannas biography by autam chintamani. Very well and fairly written for fans,

Ranbir Kapoor: I Want to Hide my Personal Life

Actor Ranbir Kapoor said that he wants to hide his personal life and not make his personal space a public space. "A reality show that people are making it out to be," he said, as he put in an appearance for the promotion of Roy. Year 2014 saw Ranbir missing in action, so would 2015 be Ranbir shining? "Well I don't

know about but I hope it's a great start with Roy, my first release since Besharam," Ranbir said. The movie is directed by Vikramjit Singh, who is Ranbir's childhood friend. The actor said it was the thought behind the film which compelled him to do this. He was the first to read the script and though

approached to play Kabir, which is now being played by Arjun Rampal, Ranbir chose to play Roy the thief. When asked if he had a confession to make, Ranbir said, "Oh no confession what if there is a FIR against me." So had he watched the controversial AIB Roast? "No I haven't but it's sad what's happening to them. It's sad they aren't compelling you to watch it. Also if I had a child as a parent I would exercise viewer discretion, but it's sad, the backlash," Ranbir said. Talking about shooting Tamasha in Delhi, the actor said, "It was a side of Delhi which has not been explored before and I am so impressed with Gurgaon and Cyber Hub." Ranbir would also be seen with Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai in filmmaker Karan Johar's next and he said that he was looking forward to working with them and especially with Aishwarya. "She got married the year I joined films, she got busy with family and I am glad that I finally will get to work with her."

The last month released Akshay Kumar starrer movie called Baby is still running in the theatre and has got decent collection apart from garnering positive reviews from the critics. Therefore its director Neeraj Pandey has all the reasons to

embark with its sequel soon. Though nothing has come official but as per the insiders, the sequel has Akshay Kumar along with Varun Dhawan in the cast list of the film. Perhaps his performance in film like Badlapur as an action hero,

he was approached by the filmmaker. However the other report claims that it was Akshay Kumar who insisted the director to approach Varun Dhawan for the cast in the upcoming sequel of Baby. Talking to a leading daily, the director said that Akshay has known Varun since his childhood, while Akki has done a couple of movies with his father as well. Varun on the other hand has limited offers after Badlapur hence there are chances that he may consider the film. On the other side, the filmmakers are very much keen to bring Varun on the board. Let’s see how things move on as nothing seems to be official now.

It all began with Deepika Padukone speaking out

about her battle against depression. She spoke in

detail about how she had to deal with it for most of last year and her efforts to create awareness about the same. Then we had a leading daily that published a rather interesting story yesterday. They claimed that it was infact Deepika’s beau Ranveer who was depressed and Deepika had actually spoken out on his behalf. Now it turns out that the entire story was fabricated or so Ranveer claims.

World Cup 2015: Bhuvneshwar Kumar in swing of things

Ahmedabad

SPORTS ROUNDUP ICC WORLD CUP-2015 COUNT-DOWN

Cool head makes Anirban Lahiri top pro Viswanathan Anand's campaign ended on a sour note as he lost to English Grandmaster Michael Adams in the seventh and final round to finish seventh in the Grenke Chess Classic, here today. A victory could have propelled him to a much needed 50% score but Anand let go a drawn endgame through another blunder to end on just 2.5 points in his first Classical tournament of the year. The loss also meant a heavy slide of 15 rating points for Anand as he also slipped to ninth spot in world rankings. With three losses, a lone

victory and three draws in the tournament, Anand finished a dismal seventh. He faced the Catalan opening as black against Adams. The game continued with Adams making only a marginal progress and the exchange of pieces at regular intervals led to a level rook and pawns endgame with little chances for either side. Adams, with his better placed rook, kept trying and Anand was at his usual self in defense with the game headed to a draw. Further exchanges resulted in a pawn plus position for Adams but the pawns were on same flank.

Deepika leads J'khand to recurve gold in Nat''l Games

Having spent close to three months in Australia, India finally have a chance to log their first win. Forget that this is just a warm-up game against minnows Afghanistan. After their recent battering in Tests and one-dayers, the defending champions badly need to get back to winning ways. Eyes will also be firmly fixed on Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s fitness; the management is hopeful that the bowler has completely recovered for the Afghan clash. While Ishant Sharma had flunked the fitness test last Saturday and ruled himself out of the

quadrennial showpiece, starting February 14, Kumar went through the paces and was declared fit to play India’s first warmup game against Australia. He bowled only five overs though, giving away 31 runs without success. “I’ve fully recovered at the moment. The last three-four days have been really good for me and I’m ready to play,” the swing bowler had said on the match eve. But uncertainty looms, nonetheless. To start with, the team management is planning to use him sparingly during the group phase. Also, Dhawal Kulkarni, the

Mumbai medium-pacer, has been asked to stay back as cover. The whole approach looks a bit surprising. In Adelaide on Tuesday, Kumar’s match fitness would be assessed once again. Severely undercooked, he needs a lot more overs under his belt before the main event. In less than a week India open their World Cup campaign against Pakistan on February 15 and yet, the bowling combination looks far from settled. All five fast bowlers were used against Australia and it suggested the captain’s dilemma.

India set to enter World Cup 'groove', says Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood

Former Commonwealth and Asian Games medallist Deepika Kumari steered Jhakhand to two team gold medals in the recurve archery events but stunningly missed out on an individual podium finish

even as the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) continued to stay on course for a hat-trick of overall titles on the eighth day of competitions in the 35th National Games here today.

National Games: Mina, Pooja corner glory

Mina Chandra of Services was the surprise winner in the men’s section, while Pooja Chaurushi of Gujarat lived up to her reputation to win the women’s gold in the triathlon event of the 35th National Games here on Monday. Mina Chandra

finished ahead of his teammate Dilip Kumar and L. Mahesh of Manipur to win gold in 1:57.02s. It was a one-horse race for the women’s gold as international Pooja Chaurushi led from start (swimming leg) to finish. Pooja, who had represented India in the Incheon Asian Games, won gold in 2:20.04. Manipur’s Linthoingambi and CH Rani Devi won silver and bronze. The results: Men (individual): 1. KSH Mina Chandra (SSCB) 1:57.02, 2. Dilip Kumar (SSCB) 1:57.50, 3. L. Mahesh (Man) 1:58.23. Team: 1. SSCB 5:52.93, 2. Goa 6:14.65, 3. Manipur 6:15.29. Women (individual): 1. Pooja Chaurushi (Guj) 2:20.04, 2. M.L. Linthoingambi (Man) 2:24.39, 3. CH Rani Devi (Man) 2:26.38. Team: 1. Gujarat 7:33.65, 2. Manipur 8:16.90, 3. Madhya Pradesh 9:15.27.

India have been in wretched form Down Under, however, going win less from their three matches in the triseries against England and Australia in recent weeks. Australia paceman Josh

Hazlewood has played down India's 106-run drubbing in a World Cup warm-up against the cohosts on Sunday, saying it was a 'matter of time' before the champions clicked.

Australia dominated India in batting, bowling and fielding in the Adelaide match to bolster their status as favourites to win the global showpiece which starts on Saturday. India have been in wretched form Down Under, however, going winless from their three matches in the tri-series against England and Australia in recent weeks. "It's just a matter of time until their batting order clicks," Hazlewood told reporters in Melbourne on Tuesday. "They've got some outstanding players and they've all got great records. I think it's just a matter of time before they get going. They're a very dangerous side," added Hazlewood.

World Cup warm-up: Rohit ton gives India first win on Australian tour Riding on Rohit Sharma's strokeful 150, an under-fire India finally registered a win after a long time as they crushed minnows Afghanistan by 153 runs in their second and final World Cup warm-up match here today. Electing to bat, India did not have the best of starts as they lost opener Shikhar Dhawan (4) and Virat Kohli (5) early but Rohit's knock helped the Men in Blue post 364 for five. Chasing a mammoth score, Afghanistan, who are making their first 50-over World Cup appearance, played cautious cricket but could only manage to score 211 for eight in 50 overs. The Indian bowling though fared a touch better with Mohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja sharing two

wickets each but Mohammed Shami went wicketless. But the day belonged to Rohit, whose dominating innings laid the foundation of a strong batting show. He stitched a 158-run third wicket partnership with Suresh Raina (75) to help India gain ground. The lefthanded Raina was unlucky to be run out after hitting 5 fours and 3 sixes in his 71ball stay but Rohit carried on the good work with Ajinkya Rahane (88 not out). Rohit was finally picked up by off-

spinner Mohammad Nabi but not after he had hit 12 fours and 7 sixes in his 122ball knock. Dhoni (10) once again failed to get going and looked completely out of sorts in his 20-ball stay at the wicket but Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja (11 not out) made sure the score was challenging enough. Afghanistan started on a cautious note as opener Usman Ghani and former captain Nawroz Mangal managed a 63-run second wicket partnership but the strategy did not work and the asking-rate kept mounting. Asghar Stanikzai (20) and later wicketkeeper-batsman Afsar Zazai (24 not out) also contributed but the target proved beyond reach for World Cup first-timers.

On Sunday, Anirban Lahiri added another chapter to his remarkable golfing career when he clinched his maiden European Tour title to become only the fourth Indian to do so after Arjun Atwal, Jeev Milkha Singh and SSP Chowrasia. What made his victory even sweeter was that he virtually sealed a berth in the year's first Major - the US Masters - climbing 36 spots to grab the 37th place in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR). He is also likely to

make the International Team for the Presidents Cup in Korea this October. Lahiri needs to remain inside the top-50 in the World Rankings a week prior to the April 9 to 12 tournament for competing at Augusta National, making him only the second Indian after Jeev in six years to make an appearance there. But what makes Lahiri such a fierce competitor? "It's not that this turnaround came overnight. It took many years of hard work and

preparation. To become the best you need time. In the last couple of years his intensity has improved, besides his game. I always knew Anirban was capable of a win like that, clinching the trophy after a five-stroke deficit in the final round," Lahiri's coach of 13 years, Vijay Divecha, told TOI from Bangalore. Divecha said the turning point in Lahiri's approach came after his EurAsia Cup performance last year, where he played a key role in Team Asia's strong comeback to help them achieve a draw against Team Europe. "EurAsia Cup was a great confidence booster for him. Playing against Ryder Cup stars like Graeme McDowell and Victor Dubuisson gave him immense belief in his abilities.

India is a far superior side to Pakistan: Irfan Pathan

Having played a stellar role many a time in IndiaPakistan clashes, allrounder Irfan Pathan feels that the defending champions have a far superior unit and will do well

against the arch-rivals in the high-voltage opening World Cup encounter on February 15 in Adelaide. "I think India is going to do really well because I think they are a far superior side. Inshallah I

am sure India are going to do well. Aur Irfan Pathan ki duaein bhi toh unke saath hain (My prayers are with the team)," Irfan told PTI in an interview. Irfan, who was part of the 2007 World Cup team under Rahul Dravid, opines it is all about handling pressure in the 50-over showpiece event. "There is lot of pressure involved in a World Cup. Because everyone is watching you, everyone's talking about a World Cup, everyone wants the Cup back. And obviously people will talk about it because it comes every four years. So the pressure mounts four times."When I was in West Indies, we thought we had prepared well but unfortunate that things didn't turn out the way we would have wanted to. So the pressure is always there and you have to handle it as much as you can," said the Baroda southpaw.

ICC can't guarantee ODI games for Associate teams: Dave Richardson

International Cricket Council (ICC) chief executive Dave Richardson has said it's difficult to guarantee considerable number of games for leading Associate teams in their bid to qualify for the 2019 World Cup in England. Richardson's view comes after ICC decided to reduce

the number of teams participating in the 2019 World Cup from 14 to 10 with the top eight sides in the One-Day International (ODI) rankings till Sep 30, 2017, qualifying automatically. The remaining two teams will be filled through the Cup qualifying tournament in Bangladesh in 2018. Theoretically, Ireland and Afghanistan can make it through by reaching the top eight, but the Irish have expressed concerns that they will not be given enough

games in the upcoming two years to fulfil that. Ireland currently sit 12th on the ODI rankings and Afghanistan 11th, but the gap with the eight-positioned West Indies is significant. "It's difficult to guarantee matches for them," Richardson was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo Tuesday. "I think it's important that we provide the top Associate members the opportunity, and certainly the indications are that the Full Members will support Ireland in that objective.

Vadodara Municipal Corporation to submit smart city development plan to Gujarat govt

Vadodara The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) will soon submit its smart city development plan to the Gujarat government, VMC Commissioner Manish Bhardwaj has said. The state government had earlier

asked the municipal corporations of Vadodara, Surat, Ahmedabad and Rajkot to submit their plans to it before February 15 for converting these four places into smart cities. The VMC will submit the smart city development plan to the

state government in a day or two, Bhardwaj said. The Centre is planning to develop 100 smart cities in the country by modernising the mid-sized cities. Gujarat govt wants one court to hear serial blasts and jail break attempt cases AHMEDABAD The state government wants the jail break attempt case to be heard by the same court that is hearing the 2008 serial blasts case. The investigating officer, PI H A Rathod approached the principal judge of the city civil court P B Desai last week and filed an application to shift the hearing in the 2013 tunneldigging incident from additional sessions judge H J Joshi's court to special judge P C Rawal, who is appointed by Gujarat high court to expeditiously hear the serial blasts case. The government has claimed that the shifting of the trial to the special court is for the

purpose of "convenience" for the prosecution to conduct both the cases. PI Rathod submitted before the court that all 24 accused in the jail break attempt case are also accused in the July 2008 bombings incident. Most of 77 blast accused are also face charges in various other courts across the country and they are frequently taken to those courts for legal proceedings. The prosecution maintained that it obtains permission to take accused outside the state from the special court, but it causes hindrance in the proceedings of tunnel digging case. If both the cases are heard by one

court, this inconvenience could be avoided. Principal sessions judge Desai issued notice on February 6 to all accused persons. Hearing will take place on February 13. A few defence lawyers said that the government's bid to shift the case came after additional sessions judge Joshi took a serious view after a complaint made by one of the defence lawyers that he was not allowed to meet the accused inside jail. Seventy-seven persons are being tried for serial blasts, in which 56 persons were killed. 24 blast accused face trial for allegedly digging a 213-foot long tunnel inside jail in February 2013.
