A road map for a new-look Congress, writes Amarinder Singh The Congress today stands at an inflection point. The resignation of Rahul Gandhi as party president has sparked a lot of speculation and discussion on “what now?”. This is quite natural. What, however, seems a bit unnatural is the scale of the response and reaction. After all, this is not the first time the grand old party has been in the midst of a crisis which has led to the prophets of doom virtually writing it off. The assassination of Mahatama Gandhi and the revolt against Indira Gandhi that culminated in the party’s split were some examples. However, one remembers how the party has defied the predictions of doom to emerge stronger, better, and bigger through every crisis. And that is what I see happening this time around too. I am sure after the dust on Rahul’s resignation has settled, we will see the Congress as a more powerful political entity, rising to new heights of success under the continued visionary guidance of the Gandhi family. In fact, I see Rahul also emerging stronger through this period, to carry forward his family’s legacy of taking the party to greater heights in the years to come. The Gandhi family’s contribution to building the Congress heritage cannot and should not be undermined, even as we look to carving a new-look party. The catch phrase here is “new-look”, because that, eventually, is what the party needs at this stage. And I am not referring to a cosmetic change but a deep-rooted change, for which the seeds have already been sown by Rahul and which we, as the grand old men of the party, need to now nurture. Rahul has shown us what a new way of thinking can do for a party which has always taken pride in connecting with the masses. It is time now to take this way of thinking forward with a new, energised and more forceful dynamism. A few days ago, I had said that what the party needs at this critical juncture in its journey is a youth leader. Today, through this column, I would like to elaborate a little more on my - Kapilkumar M. Hirpara stand. India has come. Editor

New Delhi :The Bitcoin bulls are back in control, with the largest cryptocurrency approaching its highest price of the year after breaching $13,000 for the first time in two weeks. The digital asset gained for a third day to as high as $13,154, continuing its recovery from the drop that almost pushed it below $10,000 last week. It reached a more than 18-month high of $13,880 on June 26. Wednesday’s

advance outpaced rival tokens including Ether and Litecoin. The Bloomberg Galaxy Crypto Index rose 1.5%. An upswing in mainstream institutional interest in the blockchain and cryptocurrency industry has been cited by many proponents as having helped fuel the rebound in prices for Bitcoin and other digital assets after a 2018 slump and months of inactivity to start the year. Others,

such as Tyler Winklevoss, the chief executive officer and co-founder of Gemini Trust Co., say that individual investors remain a key driver in the rally. “It’s the first time where the little guy actually is there and has an advantage structurally because they don’t have the compliance, the legal departments holding them back,” Winklevoss said during a panel discussion in New York late Tuesday.

The order was on a petition moved by AlphaOne mall, rena-med as AhmedabadOne, against the state government, Ahmed-abad Municipal

Barad had been convicted on March 1 this year to two years nine months of rigorous imprisonment on a 24-year old limestone mining case, by a magistrate court. Within three working days, on May 5, the Assembly speaker Rajendra Trivedi had then disqualified Barad

Corporation (AMC) and police inspector of traffic division over parking fee. The petitioner party argued that initially they had made parking available for free but people visiting other places also started using the mall to park their vehicles, denying parking space to the visitors of the mall, after which they decided to levy a parking fee of Rs10 for two-wheelers and Rs 20 for four-wheelers. The court reasoned that General Development Control Regulations, 2017 (GDCR) framed under the provisions of the Gujarat Town Planning and Urban Development Act, 1976, and the Gujarat Nagarpalika Act, 1963, do not stipulate parking fee in malls and multiplexes. It is for the proprietors to provide parking.

He gave it to a courier service in Surat. The parcel was then sent to a partner courtier firm in Vadodara en route Amritsar. Ahmedabad: The Gujarat High Court Wednesday overruled an order by the Veraval court last week, and granted stay on the conviction for disqualified Congress MLA from Talala, Bhaga Barad. Suspending Barad’s conviction, the court of Justice SH Vora clarified that the court “has not examined the merits of the matter at this stage and therefore, all the contentions are kept open to be agitated before

the appellate court, who in turn, shall decide the same in accordance with law, uninfluenced by the observations recorded in the impugned order (of July 3, of the Veraval trial court)”. Barad’s appeal for a stay on conviction was remanded to the Veraval sessions court for a second time by the Gujarat High Court, on June 26, on account of the trial court’s absence of providing a reasoned order to this effect. Hearing

Barad’s appeal for a stay on conviction for a third time, the Veraval sessions court on July 3 denied Barad a stay on his conviction, in a reasoned order. After perusing several judgments, which had been referred to by the Gujarat HC as precedents, the sessions judge concluded that conviction cannot be suspended if the applicant doesn’t disclose the “evil and all adverse circumstances and disqualifications (are) likely to be affected.”

followed by Sabarkantha (1,293) and Anand (1274). Narmada and Dahod also have the highest number of underweight children followed by Sabarkantha and Chhota Udepur. The discussion gave way to a heated argument in the state Assembly over usage of the word 'kuposhan'. Several Congress MLAs raised questions about the government's efforts in tackling malnourishment. In reply, Dave pointed out that it was not right to call these kids as suffering from kuposhan (malnourishment) but that it

was a case of alpposhan (low nourishment). This lead to uproar from the Opposition bench with Chavda saying that it was a matter of shame that despite over two decades of BJP rule, Gujarat still had children who were malnourished. In reply to Chavda's question about spending on such children to help improve their nourishment levels, Dave said that the government spends Rs 8 per underweight child in the 0-3 years category while it was Rs 12 per day for severely underweight children.

Gujarat: Monsoon in lull phase, no rain in next 4 days Meteorologist Manorama Mohanty told DNA that no major rainfall is expected until the end of the week, except for isolated showers in south Gujarat.

Ahmedabad:The weather office has ruled out chances of any major rainfall in the state in the next four-five days, owing to the absence of any weather system which would bring rainfall to Gujarat. Meteorologist Manorama Mohanty told DNA that no major rainfall is expected until the end of the week, except for isolated showers in south Gujarat. "We are

not expecting any major rainfall as there is no system prevalent that would bring rainfall to the state. None of the Met centres in the state have recorded any rainfall till 5:30 pm on Wednesday," she said. The meteorologist also clarified that cloud cover will remain at several places across the state, including Ahmedabad, due to the prevalence of abundant moisture in the

atmosphere and convection. Interestingly, due to the lack of rainfall, temperatures have started soaring and that, combined with high relative humidity, is giving a tough time to citizens. As far as the city and its adjoining areas are concerned, the weather office has predicted generally cloudy skies until July 14. The maximum temperature in the capital during this

period is likely to be around 36-37°C, whereas the minimum temperature would be around 26°C. The weather office has clarified that even as the mercury is likely to rise gradually in the next two-three days, it is unlikely that it will breach the 40°C mark. Meanwhile, the city on Wednesday witnessed partly cloudy skies, with the maximum temperature touching 38.4°C.
