Kerala Education Minister

My first column in 2023 is a tribute to India’s second Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri, whose 57th death anniversary falls on 11 January. Even though his name is the bellwether of the institution where I trained for two years—from 1985 to 1987—and served for nearly nine years, first as deputy director from 1994-2001 and then as director from 20192021, the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Uttarakhand, his name does not figure in Ramachandra Guha’s Makers of Modern India. V. Krishna Ananth’s India Since Independence gives him eight paragraphs, while Meghnad Desai’s Rediscovery of India gives him three pages. In the memoirs and autobiographies of Shastri’s political contemporaries, only S. Nijalingappa, Independence activist and former chief minister of Karnataka, holds him in high esteem. Morarji Desai and Vijayalakshmi Pandit, though, were not too charitable. Except for Kuldip Nayyar, who devoted three chapters on Shastri in his books Between the Lines and Beyond the Lines, giving a fair and candid assessment of his life and politics, most other English language journalists in India and abroad always regarded him as a shadow of his former mentor Jawaharlal Nehru, who had a 17-year tenure as prime minister. The editors of Mainstream and Seminar— Nikhil Chakravarty and Romesh Thapar were too enamoured by Nehru to give Shastri an agency of his own. The civil servants he worked with at close quarters, L.P. Singh, C.P. Srivastava and Rajeshwar Prasad, have written their recollections of the man and his frank and forthright style of functioning, but that’s about it. Three years ago, author Sandeep Shastri wrote a slim volume called Lal Bahadur Shastri: Politics and Beyond. This is in contrast to the hundreds of books written on Nehru and Indira Gandhi – not just because they had longer tenures in office but also because it was part of a conscious effort to build the myth and mystique of the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty.

Yo Yo Honey Singh: ‘I want to thank Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar for helping me in my struggle of coming back’

Agency News : Mumbai

Agency News : Mumbai

Following in the footsteps of one’s father has just got a new meaning. As far as continuing a legacy is concerned, Aasmaan Bhardwaj has written his name into the annals of Hindi cinema history with his first film. There’s a delectable ring to his debut feature, Kuttey, seen in the light of his father Vishal Bhardwaj’s 2009 film Kaminey. Between father and son, they have encapsulated the ambience of Hindi film dialogues of an entire era. As Kuttey gears up for release on January 13, the young filmmaker speaks about the making of the film, the influences that have shaped him, and what it means to be the son of Vishal and Rekha Bhardwaj. I wrote it in college for my degree. It is one of the most complex screenplays

that I wrote as part of my project. In the screenwriting course, we had to either write a screenplay for a feature or a bible for a show. I chose to write feature film screenplays. Kuttey was the last one I wrote. I had finished writing my scripts much before my semester ended. Since I was done with my thesis project, I asked my teacher if I could experiment

and work on a crazy structure of a screenplay. For the three years preceding that, I had done it according to the screenplay act structure that I was taught. I wanted to do something out of the box and my teacher gave me the permission to do so. That is how Kuttey started. That’s the primary reason why I chose this as my first film. The screenplay is one of my favourites. The story is rather simple – three groups on the trail of a vanload of money. It is unique in the way I have narrated it – the visual treatment, the background, the tone of the actors. Since I am a writer first, I hope that people like the screenplay. The complexity of the screenplay should show in the film. I am proud of my screenplay and the way it is structured. The legacy thing has happened as a byproduct.

The rupee was the best performing Asian currency on Tuesday, IFA Global Research Academy said in a research note. ”We have been highlighting that the RBI may buy reserves less aggressively now given that relative Rupee overvaluation has corrected significantly and banking system liquidity is in a considerable surplus,” it said, adding that the rupee is likely to trade in a 81.50-81.80 range with downside bias. Apart from her feature film debut with action-thriller Lakadbaggha on January 13, Ridhi Dogra has two other big releases lined up this year. The actress has a big Diwali release — Tiger 3, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. But before that, she will be sharing screen space with her idol, Shah Rukh Khan, in Atlee’s Jawan. “I actually didn’t want to work with them (Salman and Shah Rukh) because they’re too big. I am a product of the way Shah Rukh thinks. So, if you apply his thought process in your life, you have to be the king wherever you are. Shah Rukh says, ‘I’m the best.’ So, I also say that I’m the best,” said Ridhi while talking about her big-ticket films. The actress, who has played lead roles in multiple TV serials, said it was a big risk for her to feature alongside the two Bollywood stars. “They’re running everything. But I guess I was in that mindset at the time when I said to myself, ‘Push yourself and put yourself in this spot.’ I didn’t need to, but I did because I wanted to challenge myself mentally.”

It was a classic fangirl moment for Ridhi when she met Shah Rukh Khan. “When I met Shah Rukh for the first time, it was only two of us. He was not talking. He was nice. He didn’t get up or was on his phone. So, I thought that I would be funny, crack some jokes, or say random things and try to talk to him. Soon I realised that I should just shut up,” she recalled. While sharing her shooting experience with Shah Rukh, the actress said she did not talk to him even on the sets. “I was just speechless. He’s too big a deal for me. I idolise him too much. I have understood how big he is after working with him. My family and friends know how much I love Shah Rukh, but I didn’t know the extent of it till I met him and couldn’t talk to him. Then I was like, you know what, I don’t want him to be my friend. I want him to remain my idol.” Ridhi will be seen playing a sleuth in Lakadbaggha alongside Anshuman Jha. The film directed by Victor Mukherjee also features Milind Soman, Paresh Pahuja, Eksha Kerung, and Kharaj Mukherjee.

Shalby Hospitals Naroda Trains 15,000 People to be Jeevan Rakshaks in Emergencies Shilpa Shetty Jets to Hyderabad For The Next Schedule Of ‘Indian Police Force’

Incidences like sudden cardiac arrest, near drowning, and choking when a person stops breathing and is unresponsive are responsible for a large number of deaths. Many of these lives can be saved with Basic Life Support measures like CPR - Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. It is a life-saving technique in emergencies, which is performed with hard and fast chest compressions on the affected person. This, in simple terms, is essentially pushing down your hands fast and hard on the chest of the victim. CPR can be performed by bystanders too with proper knowledge and training. Basic Life Support also involves rescue breathing when the rescuer blows air in the victim’s mouth, which too can be done by people with training on the right way to do it. Basic Life Support plays a crucial role in keeping the person breathing, thus

saving his life till full medical help arrives. However, performing CPR effectively needs a special training, and thus we see numerous lives being lost as people around the victim are not able to able to do it because of lack of knowledge and training.
