The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday quashed two different FIRs registered by Punjab police against Delhi BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga and poet and former AAP leader Kumar Vishwas. Both cases were registered after the Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government took over in Punjab for their allegedly provocative remarks ahead of the February assembly elections in the state. A bench of justice Anoop Chitkara heard the

petitions separately and passed two separate orders. While Bagga was booked on April 1, 2022, by Mohali police for allegedly making provocative statements, promoting enmity and criminal intimidation, the Roopnagar police had booked Kumar Vishwas on April 12 for allegedly promoting enmity between groups, criminal conspiracy, publishing or circulating a report with intent to create enmity, on the grounds of religion etc. It is pertinent to mention here that Bagga’s arrest from Delhi by Punjab police had also whipped up a major controversy with allegations that he was picked up without following due process. However, in a dramatic twist in the events, the Haryana police stopped the Punjab police convoy in Kurukshetra and his custody was given to Delhi police after a day-long ugly faceoff between the police of three states.

Fourteen PFI activists, arrested in a massive crackdown on the radical Muslim outfit over its alleged terror links, approached the Delhi High Court on Wednesday seeking their release and compensation, claiming they were unlawfully detained. The bench listed the matter for a further hearing on November 21.Three separate petitions came up before a bench of Justices Siddharth Mridul and

to file additional documents and relevant judgements to support their case. During the hearing, Delhi Police raised preliminary objections to the petitions’ maintainability, stating that habeas corpus petitions cannot be lied to because the majority of the petitioners have been released on bail. A habeas corpus petition is filed seeking direction to produce a person who is missing or has been illegally detained.

Biden Vows Consequences for Saudi Arabia After OPEC Decides to Cut Oil Production President Joe Biden pledged on Tuesday “there will be consequences” for US relations with Saudi Arabia after OPEC+ announced last week that it would cut oil production over US objections. His announcement came a day after powerful Democratic Senator Bob Menendez, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said the United States must immediately freeze all cooperation with Saudi Arabia, including arms sales. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said a policy review would be conducted but gave no timeline for action or information on who would lead the re-evaluation. The United States will be watching the situation closely “over the coming weeks and months,” she said. OPEC+ announced plans for an oil production cut last week after weeks of lobbying against one by US officials. The United States accused Saudi Arabia of kowtowing to Russia, which objects to a Western cap on the price of Russian oil spurred by the Ukraine invasion. US officials had been quietly trying to persuade its biggest Arab partner to nix the idea of a production cut, but Saudi Arabia’s de factor ruler, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, was not swayed. Bin Salman and Biden had clashed during Biden’s visit to Jeddah in July over the death in 2018 of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi, according to a source familiar with the situation. US intelligence says the crown prince approved an operation to capture or kill Khashoggi, a Saudi insider-turned-critic, who was murdered and dismembered by Saudi agents inside the kingdom’s consulate in Istanbul. The prince, son of King Salman, 86, has denied ordering the killing but acknowledged it took place “under my watch.” Biden said in July he told the prince he thought he was responsible. John Kirby, the White House national security spokesperson, said Biden would work with Congress “to think through what that relationship ought to look like going forward.” “And I think he’s going to be willing to start to have those conversations right away. I don’t think this is anything that’s going to have to wait or should wait, quite frankly, for much longer,” Kirby added. State Department spokesperson Ned Price also said on Tuesday the Biden administration would not overlook Iran, a U.S. adversary and a bitter regional rival of Saudi Arabia, in the review. Much of US arms sales to Saudi Arabia have been made with Iran’s threat in the region in mind. “There are security challenges, some of which emanate from Iran. Certainly, we won’t take our eye off the threat that Iran poses not only to the region, but in some - Kapilkumar M. Hirpara ways beyond,” Price said.

till now nothing has been done for their welfare by this government. Now for the sake of election and votes, they are visiting areas where Dalits and backward communities live,” Siddaramaiah, who is here to take part in ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ led by Rahul Gandhi, told reporters in response to a question. Deve Gowda had himself issued a statement on September 22 to quell any rumours over his health, saying he was well but might take some more time to return to active politics. “My health is fine now and I will be actively involved in party matters. The sharp reactions came after that Punjab’s AAP government had made such a demand.BJP’s national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala called the AAP “PPP—Pak Parast Party”. Taking to Twitter, Poonawala said, “AAP’s Pakistan Parasti parallels Congress pak prem! Much like Congress AAP had questioned surgical strike, demanded Balkote proof, blamed Pulwama on India.” “On one hand Kejriwal claims he is a kattar desh bhakt but in reality he is a votebank bhakt. Where is Naga peace accord: Nitish invokes JP’s Nagaland link to attack Modi govt Agency News : New Delhi

As Union Home Minister Amit Shah landed in Jayaprakash Narayan’s village in Bihar to mark his 120th birth anniversary Tuesday, JD(U) leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar included Nagaland among other places in his itinerary to honour the leader. Nitish, like almost the entire top brass of Bihar leaders, was a product of the JP Movement. Nagaland, which goes to elections in 2023, was a strategic choice to honour JP, with Nitish – speaking at the ‘All Nagaland Bihari Conference’ at Dimapur – underlining “the contribution of Biharis in the political and economic

sphere of Nagaland” since the days of the late leader. JP had played a crucial role in the signing of the peace accord between the Indian Army and Naga rebel forces, and Nitish, who recently split with the BJP and has set his eyes on the national stage, used the occasion to target the Modi government, and specifically Shah as Home Minister, over the stuck Naga peace talks.

Mohammed Shafi alias Rasheed entered the lives of Bhagaval Singh and Laila through a fake profile on Facebook.

Agency News : Trivandrum Acriminal mastermind’s fake Facebook profile and a couple’s greed for wealth led to two gruesome murders that have sent a chill down the spine of Elanthoor, a sleepy hamlet in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala. On October 11, police arrested Bhagaval Singh, a traditional healer and Haiku poet, and his wife Laila for allegedly killing two women on the advice of one Mohammed Shafi alias Rasheed who claimed the ‘human sacrifice ritual’ – which included the consumption of the victims’ flesh — would bring them money and prosperity. Rasheed, the alleged

mastermind of the barbaric saga, has also been arrested. The saga started when 59-year-old Laila, the second wife of 68-year-old Bhagaval Singh, came across a Facebook post which invited “those who are interested in prosperous life”. After the couple explored the post, Singh, popularly known as ‘Vaidyan’ among the locals, received a friend request from someone named ‘Sreedevi’ who claimed to be a fan of his Haiku poetry. Haiku is the Japanese name for a poem of 17 syllables that does not traditionally rhyme. Singh and ‘Sreedevi’ started chatting online frequently and after some time had passed, the latter convinced the healer-cum-poet to seek the help of a ‘sidhan’ named Rasheed from Perumbavoor in Ernakulam to gain vast wealth. Little did Bhagaval Singh or Laila realise that ‘Sreedevi’ was none other than Rasheed alias Mohammed Shafi hiding behind a fake profile. After being ‘introduced’ to the couple by ‘Sreedevi’, Rasheed began making regular visits to the Singh’s home in Elanthoor.

He said that Meta’s ‘fabrication charge’ as they claim may have been played to “discredit” them. The Wire in their editorial which alleged that BJP’s Amit Malviya has access to privilege X-Check and stated that he can get any social media post on platforms like Facebook and Instagram taken down. At almost 70 crore, India has the second highest population of internet users after China, which is set to hit 90 crore by 2025 as 5G and satellite internet takeover. With such a huge market evolving, major service providers can’t be far behind, and the world’s richest man Elon Musk has eyes on a major chunk of this pie. After being told by Beijing to keep the world’s biggest internet market China off his radar, Musk has turned Starlink’s constellation

Although his electric car Tesla’s entry into India has been halted over a regulatory jam, Musk is reportedly applying for a license to beam internet to the country with low-orbit satellites. This will make Musk’s firm the third of its kind to apply for permissions including landing rights and market access, after Airtel owner Bharti’s OneWeb and Reliance Jio.

With Rocket Boys, our director had carved out a beautiful arch covering the highlights of Vikram Bhai’s (Dr. Vikram Sarabhai) life that made my research very focussed,” says Singh adding, “There was a very close-knit association between the actors and the creators. We rehearsed, compared notes, and did extensive work for months before getting to the set.” Ask if there is a greater need for acknowledgment from your audience when, as an artiste, you devote so much time and effort into building a character, Singh denies it reasoning, “I don’t expect that from my audience or the makers. If they feel I’ve worked hard and acknowledge it, it’s a wonderful feeling. It’s always good to see people appreciating your work ethic.” However, for Singh, who will also be seen in Berlin and Bas Karo Aunty, the time and work he invested in this project was nothing extraordinary. “I did the most basic work that was needed for Vikram Sarabhai or, for that matter, any other character that I play. In fact, the research and prep are my way of working—something that has been a part of my upbringing since the time I worked on stage with the Asmita Theatre Group. I’ve always done this, even for a character that had just one line in the play,” says the actor, who is working on season two of Rocket Boys.

Salman Khan Defamation Case: Bombay HC Reserves Order On Plea Against Civil Court Verdict Agency News : Mumbai The Bombay High Court has reserved its order on a plea filed by Salman Khan against the orders of a court, which refused to grant him interim relief in a defamation suit that he registered against his Panvel farmhouse neighbour Ketan Kakkar. Salman owns a 100-acre farmhouse in Panvel and Ketan is the owner of the adjoining property. Through social media posts, Ketan Kakkar alleged that Salman and his family carried out illegal activities in the farmhouse. Ketan, in his petition, also mentioned the illegal encroachment of his land by Salman Khan. Hence, referencing the post, Salman Khan and his family filed a defamation lawsuit against Ketan Kakkar. The petition filed by the actor’s counsel in the High Court mentions Kakkar’s post as not only defamatory and derogatory but also communally biased and potential to create a

communal divide. Khan’s counsel, in the complaint, contended that the defendant is trying to incite communal violence and Hindu-Muslim hatred by making provocative, and baseless statements. The complaint also mentions false statements based on religion, which are irrelevant and absurd are said by Ketan Kakkar. The communal angle in the defamation lawsuit stems from Kakkar’s petition. Ketan Kakkar in his plea mentions that Khan while illegally encroaching on his land also usurped a Ganpati temple he had built on the property. Earlier, the matter was heard by the Session court which refused to pass a restraining order against Ketan Kakkar. The court identified Ketan’s action as a whistleblower as he has placed various pieces of evidence including show cause notices and complaints on the matter.

This very theme will manifest through revamped facilities, creative displays and the kids play area. The four blocks of the hospital are also being renamed after mountain ranges of India. The objective is to help in easy navigation and make it easier for patients and visitors to remember the areas. On the occasion, Neeraj Lal, COO, Apollo Hospitals Ahmedabad said, “For anyone, visiting a doctor in any hospital is a tiresome job! We understand the pain when you or your loved one is ill and you have to visit a hospital, standing in queue and waiting for the doctor to see you or getting your test done in the hospital.
