The high court had dismissed Sisodia’s petition seeking quashing of the defamation case filed by Sarma over allegations of corruption levelled against him by the Delhi deputy CM. After the apex court showed its disinclination to entertain Sisodia’s plea against the November 4 order of the high court, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader withdrew it. Sarma had filed a criminal defamation case against Sisodia for making “baseless” corruption allegations against him in connection with the supply of PPE kits at “higher than market rates” to the National Health

Agency News: New Delhi Indian and Chinese soldiers clashed at a location along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh on December 9, resulting in minor injuries to a few personnel from both sides, military sources said on Monday. They said the Indian troops resolutely confronted the Chinese PLA soldiers. “On December 9, PLA troops contacted the LAC in Tawang Sector which was contested by our troops in a firm and resolute manner. This faceoff led to minor injuries to few
personnel from both sides,” said a source. The sources said both sides immediately disengaged from the area. “As a follow up to the incident, our Commander in the area held a Flag Meeting with his (Chinese) counterpart to discuss the issue in accordance with structured mechanisms to restore peace and tranquillity,” the source said. “In certain areas along the LAC in the Tawang Sector in Arunachal Pradesh there are areas of differing perception, wherein both sides patrol the area up to their claim lines. This has been the trend since 2006,” the source said.
The Allahabad High Court has stayed the transfer of the Uttar Pradesh Police Constable Manoj Kumar whose video on the poor quality of food served in the police mess went viral a few months ago. A bench of Justice Pankaj Bhatia passed the order on a plea moved by the constable against his transfer from Firozabad to Ghazipur. In August, a video of Constable Manoj Kumar went viral where he was seen highlighting the “substandard” quality of food served at the staff mess in Firozabad police lines. Parliament passes bill to promote non-fossil energy sources and carbon credit trading Agency News: New Delhi A bill seeking to mandate the use of non-fossil energy sources such as biomass, ethanol and green hydrogen was passed by Parliament on Monday. The Energy Conservation (Amendment) Bill, 2022 was cleared in Rajya Sabha by a voice vote on Monday. Lok Sabha passed the legislation in the previous session in August this year. The bill provides for penalties for violations by industrial units or vessels, and on manufacturers if a vehicle fails to comply with fuel consumption norms. The amendments also seek to promote renewable energy and the development of a domestic carbon market to battle climate
change. The bill is also aimed at helping the country achieve its international commitments on climate change. It aims to introduce new concepts such as carbon trading and mandate the use of non-fossil sources to ensure faster decarbonisation of the Indian economy and help achieve sustainable development goals in line with the Paris Agreement. Replying to a debate on the bill, Minister of New and Renewable Energy R K Singh said the bill is environment friendly and will allow carbon trading in the country. ”For government, the environment is precious and will take all steps for that,” he said, adding India has now become a leader in the energy transition.

As the world’s most high-octane democracy, every election is frustratingly treated with the same cookie-cutter analysis. Aam Admi Party’s less-than-impressive results compared to its big talk and big media love-in has confirmed its character as a spoiler rather than a contender. The new, if unnoticed, story is the likely emergence of a different social map of political leadership even as hard identity talk reigns. Look no further than Mevani and, indeed, Congress’ Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu in Himachal Pradesh. You don’t necessarily need to be in a cadre-based party to breach the zealously guarded citadels of power. To be sure, Modi continues to wield all the powers associated with his personality and as a distinct form of leadership of our times. His carefully curated road shows in Gujarat ensured more than just the big mandate for his party. Whether it is a Lok Sabha election or his home state, Modi manages to overwhelm any concern with governance and accountability. Despite the recent preventable deaths due to the Morbi bridge collapse, or even the long-drawn-out and brutal fallout of the global Covid-19 - Kapilkumar M. Hirpara pandemic, Modi remains popular.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi allegedly faced a cyber attack last month, paralysing its servers. A case of extortion and cyber terrorism was registered by the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit of the Delhi Police on November 25. Raising the matter of urgent public importance in Lok Sabha, Tharoor said the recent cyber attacks on the IT servers of AIIMS-Delhi had resulted in data losses which impeded its normal operations including patient registration, consultation booking and availability of medical records. “The origin, intent and extent of the attack remain unclear and I trust that the
government recognising this as a matter of public importance will take the House into confidence about this and the measures taken to prevent a recurrence,” the MP from Thiruvananthapuram said. The possibility of this being a hostile cross-border attack is a grave concern which calls for a thorough investigation and a tough response, Tharoor stressed. “It also reflects the weak data protection safeguards in our country especially by government institutions. The Personal Data Protection Bill 2019 had created a special category of sensitive personal data including health data that required stringent safeguards but this has unfortunately been done away with in the new draft bill released by the government,” he said.

It should be reiterated that these defamatory remarks were made by the Accused No. 1 initially which was further carried forward and circulated by the other accused persons, all of whom were acting io connivance
with each other and a conspiracy by the Accused No. l to ensure the financial, social, and personal downfall of the Complainant was batched, and enacted by the said actions,” it added. Meanwhile, a Delhi court on Monday adjourned by a week the hearing in the money laundering case against Fernandez and Chandrashekar. Special judge Shailendra Malik deferred the matter for December 20 after being told by the counsel appearing for Fernandez that she was yet to receive complete copies of the charge sheet and other documents by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Fernandez also appeared before the court during the brief hearing. The court had on November 15 granted regular bail to the actress. She was not arrested in the case. It had on August 31 taken cognisance of a supplementary charge sheet filed by the ED and asked Fernandez to appear before the court.
Some of the vehicles procured by the Mumbai Police earlier this year under the Nirbhaya Fund to fight crime against women are being used for providing Y-plus security to the MLAs and MPs of the Shiv Sena faction led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, a police official said on Sunday. In June this year, the city police force procured 220 Boleros, 35 Ertigas, 313 Pulsar motorcycles and 200 Activa two-wheelers using the Rs 30 crore corpus that it had received under the Nirbhaya fund. The development prompted the opposition Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) to attack the Shinde-led government,

The Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday nabbed three Pakistani fishermen and seized their boat from a creek area near the India-Pakistan border off the Kutch district coast in Gujarat, the BSF said. In a special search operation conducted overnight, three Pakistani fishermen were apprehended in the early hours of Monday from the Harami Nalla creek area, a BSF release said. “Upon learning about the movement of a Pakistani fishing boat and fishermen inside the Indian territory of the creek, the BSF patrol
immediately rushed to the spot and seized their boat. “On seeing BSF personnel approaching them, fishermen started fleeing towards Pakistan. However, BSF jawans chased them and apprehended three Pak fishermen,” it said. They are residents of Zero Point in Pakistan. The preliminary questioning revealed one of the fishermen was held by BSF in 2017 as well and was lodged in the Bhuj Jail for a year before he was repatriated to Pakistan from the Attari Wagah border. The fishermen told BSF they entered Indian territory for fishing as it is their main source of livelihood.

Patil on Sunday said the ink was thrown on him as part of a planned attack and claimed his statement on Ambedkar and Phule was “distorted” by some people. Meanwhile, Pune Police have filed a case against a man who recorded his video condemning Patil for his statement by standing outside the latter’s residence in Kothrud area of Pune late Sunday night.

With Mumbai’s air quality seeing a significant dip, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal spoke to on Monday, and majorly pointed the finger at oil refineries in the city. The action was taken on Sunday against the students on the recommendation of the committee, the college principal said. The anti-ragging committee meeting was attended also by city magistrate Richa Singh, SP (city) Harbans Singh and social worker Kusum Digari besides the members of the panel. All students involved in the incident were summoned to the meeting and the offenders confessed to what they had done with their juniors.

The plants are located in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. “Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited (DCBL), wholly owned subsidiary of Dalmia Bharat Limited has today entered into a binding Framework Agreement for the acquisition of the cement, clinker and power plants from Jaiprakash Associates Limited and its associate having
total cement capacity of 9.4 million tonnes,” Dalmia Bharat said in a BSE filing. The acquisition will enable Dalmia to expand its footprint into the central region and will represent a significant step towards realisation of its vision to emerge as a pan-India cement company with a capacity of 75 million tonnes by FY27 and 110‐130 million tonnes by FY31. The transaction is subject to due‐ diligence, requisite approvals from lenders/JV partner of Jaiprakash Associates Limited and regulatory authorities.

Showing a steady growth, net direct tax collections in India jumped 24.26 per cent year-onyear (YoY) to Rs 8.77 lakh crore till November 11 in the current financial year 2022-23. This is 61.79 per cent of the total budget estimate of direct taxes for FY23. “Steady growth in Direct Tax collections! Net collection in FY 2022-23 is 24.26 per cent higher than the net collection for the corresponding period of the preceding year. 61.79 per cent of Budget Estimates for FY 2022-23 already achieved,” the finance ministry said in a tweet on Monday. It added that direct tax collection, net of refund, stands at 8.77 lakh crore as of November
30, 2022, which is 24.26 per cent higher than the net collection for the corresponding period last year. The ministry also said that refunds amounting to about Rs 2.15 lakh crore have been issued between April 1 and November 1 this year, which is about 66.92 per cent higher than refunds during the same period in the preceding year. “Speedy issue of Refunds! 66.92 per cent higher refunds issued upto 30th Nov., 2022 during FY 2022-23 compared to the corresponding period in 2021.

A few days later I got a call saying that I have been selected. I’ve auditioned for almost all the roles in this show but yeah, I got lucky to bag this role. I have just started with this show, so I am learning a lot from Pratiksha’s character, how she is and what she does. In real life, I think I am not like that. I believe today the roles are very different in
real life as compared to reel life. So, I believe, nothing is perfect or ideal, it’s mutual from both sides. There has to be love, understanding and trust, and eventually, things get better if these three pillars are there in a relationship from both sides. So, I feel this is what an ideal Dharam Patni or Dharam Pati should be in real life.

National Investment and Infrastructure Fund Limited (NIIFL) today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tamil Nadu Infrastructure Development Board (TNIDB) which outlines the various initiatives on which NIIFL will support TNIDB to help attract commercial capital into infrastructure opportunities in the state of Tamil Nadu. NIIFL will support TNIDB in identifying potential private sector investment opportunities, including for asset recycling and developing greenfield and brownfield infrastructure projects in sectors such as renewable energy, roads, waste management, water, tourism and other related sectors with the
objective of catalysing capital into the state. 7 projects have been identified across departments which have the potential to attract private investments of approximately Rs. 5,000 to 6,000 crore. Work on these projects has been initiated. NIIFL’s ‘Strategic Initiatives and Policy Advisory’ (SIPA) team provides high-level strategic advice to Central and State Government entities. NIIFL through its SIPA team supports the respective departments in project conceptualisation and analysing project attractiveness for private investments and in structuring transactions. NIIFL leverages its experience and expertise in the infrastructure sector as well as its experience of working with private capital to support the Government of Tamil Nadu.
