Beijing brokers diplomatic détente between Saudi Arabia and Iran. Taiwanese president Tsai Ing-wen is set to visit New York and California, say sources. Taiwan will resume direct flights to 23 mainland Chinese cities suspended since 2016. When Li Qiang walked out on the stage with President Xi Jinping and five other members of the Politburo Standing Committee in October 2022 during the 20th Party Congress meeting, it was clear that Xi had set his mind on making the former his next premier. Last week, Xi’s presidential order confirmed it.Li comes from a humble background, unlike Xi, a princeling. Li studied agricultural mechanisation at Zhejiang University and later joined the Communist Youth League. He earned an executive postgraduate degree from the Chinese Communist Party’s Central Party School.Between 2004 and 2007, Li served as Xi’s chief of staff while the latter was the party secretary in Zhejiang province. It’s the reason Li became Xi’s most trusted protégé, and the relationship has paid off for Li as he moved swiftly into the role of party secretary in Jiangsu and later Shanghai. One of Li’s successes was convincing Elon Musk to set up Tesla’s first overseas factory in Shanghai. But Li was implicated in mismanaging the response to Covid during the massive Shanghai lockdown.Reuters recently reported citing unnamed Chinese officials that Li played a role in accelerating plans to dump China’s stringent Covid measures in December. But Reuters sources may have been attempting to prop Li up as a suitable candidate who would continue the agenda of economic growth.“He inherits a job that has so many headwinds, starting with the real estate crisis, the debt burden, US sanctions, the ageing of China and the sentiment being down,” Jörg Wuttke, head of the EU Chamber of Commerce in China, told.

India vs Australia: Virat Kohli scores 28th Test century in Ahmedabad

Agency News : New Delhi

Such was Virat Kohli’s discipline in his over seven-hour knock that he went 161 balls without hitting a boundary en route to his 28th Test century at the Motera on Sunday, preferring to accumulate runs in a risk-free manner.“It was so hot out there and the way he ran between the wickets and built the partnership, it was really great. His discipline stood out,” Axar Patel, Kohli’s partner in a 162- run stand for the sixth wicket on Sunday, said. Axar, most consistent with the bat for India in this series, added that Kohli had egged him on to go for a maiden Test hundred. “Once I was set, I was connecting everything that came into my radar.“He was also giving me inputs. Like, once I got my fifty, I should bat long since there were still 22 overs left in the

day.”There wasn’t any specific message from the dressing room, Axar stated, and the only strategy was to play positively, which Kohli emphasised during their sixthwicket partnership.“When I was batting with Viratbhai, there wasn’t any specific message from the team. Viratbhai told me to continue playing positively, which I do most of the time.“Once we got well set, run-scoring became easier as bowlers also weren’t getting much assistance from the pitch. And once I was set, I was connecting the deliveries which were in my arc.

But some of you can now take a sigh of relief as the Pune-based Bank of Maharashtra (BoM) has reduced home loan interest rates by 20 basis points to 8.40 per cent — one of the lowest in the banking industry. Rajeev also revealed that the lowest rates offered are for the best borrowers who have high CIBIL scores. These borrowers fall into a group that has zero defaults. The bank has also made the move to improve its crossselling opportunities with the increasing borrower base.

‘Kartik Aaryan Cannot Replace Akshay Kumar’ Says Suniel Shetty Ending Hera Pheri 3 Casting Rumours

The dust on the rumours of Kartik Aaryan replacing Akshay Kumar in Hera Pheri 3 is still settling down. The third film in the installment starring Akshay, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal has been in the headlines for months now. It drew massive attention when it was rumoured that Kartik was replacing Akshay as Raju after the latter decided to step down. However, much back and forth later, it was eventually revealed that the OG trio is reuniting. Although the team of Hera Pheri 3 is yet to issue an official statement about Kartik’s talks for the movie, Suniel has now said that Kartik was never meant to take over Akshay’s role. He added that while Kartik cannot replace Akshay in the franchise.“I have always said that Kartik Aaryan was never taking over Akshay’s role in the film. Kartik is the new kid on the block who is extraordinary, but he cannot replace Akshay Kumar. Raju will always remain Raju, and the audience won’t accept a replacement for him. It (Kartik’s) was a new character, and now who’s playing that part or what happens to that character… I am clueless about it,” he told. “Akki wanted to (be a part of the franchise). Whatever transpired between the producer and him, Akki knows, but whenever I had spoken to Akki in the past, I had always told him that this film should be our top priority. He had also agreed saying, ‘Yes, this is a film we should work on,’” he added. Hera Pheri 3 also ropes in Farhad Samji as the director. The previous movie was helmed by Anees Bazmee whereas the franchise was started by Priyadarshan. Speaking about the change in director now, Suniel said, “Today, there is more than one director associated with this film and I say that because the actors are as involved in the project (as the director). None of us are going to make a fool of ourselves with this film. After all, we don’t want the legendary Hera Pheri to be impacted by any mistakes we make in the future. Even if it’s not as good but is remotely close to the original, and we can make a sensible film, we are happy.

All I can say for now is that Farhad has done a brilliant job with the writing of the film. We should start rolling mostly in the second half of the year.” The team of Hera Pheri 3 came together last month to shoot an announcement video for the movie. Pictures of the trio reuniting went viral on social media.

it was rumoured that Kartik Aaryan was going to fill Akshay Kumar’s shoes in Hera Pheri 3.
