Jailed Ex-MLA Mukhtar Ansari’s Land Worth ₹ 6 Crore Seized In UP: Cops The plots were seized by a team led by Superint endent of Police Rohan P Botre following all necessary legal procedures Agency News:New Delhi The Ghazipur district administration in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday seized two plots of land, measuring 1.901 hectares and valued at over ₹ 6 crore, that was purchased using illegal earnings of jailed former MLA and gangster Mukhtar Ansari, police said. According to the police, the plots -- one measuring 0.394 hectare
in Rajdepur of Ghazipur Sadar and another measuring 1.507 ha in Fatehullahpur of Nandganj -- were registered in the name of Ansari’s wife Afshan Ansari.The plots were seized by a team led by Superintendent of Police Rohan P Botre following all necessary legal procedures. The value of the confiscated land has been estimated at ₹ 6.30 crore.According to an order issued by District Magistrate Mangala Prasad Singh, the properties were seized under Section 14(1) of the Gangsters Act. Ansari, a five-time former MLA, is currently lodged in Banda jail.

Rss And Bjp Are Trying To Appropriate Legacy Of India’s Freedom Struggle
As the country is celebrating the 75th anniversary of independence, it’s an irony of historythat the RSS, which remained loyal to the British, is now trying to appropriate the legacy ofour secular and inclusive struggle for independence. Seventy-five years ago, our countryreached an important milestone, when people of the country got liberated from the clutchesof British colonialism. Our independence was the result of a century-long sustained massstruggle, with many streams of political thoughts and ideologies merging in opposition toBritish rule and liberated the masses from British oppression.Our struggle for independence was not just a movement to remove the British but it also hadan agenda for our country’s future. That agenda of social reforms and to liberate our countryfrom poverty and inequality was the result of a dialogue between the major ideologicalcurrents fighting for our independence. Most important of them were the school of thoughtrepresented by Mahatma Gandhi through the policy and programme of the Congress Party,the Communists and Socialists and advocates of social reforms best represented in the workof Dr Ambedkar.Dialogue and debate between these streams produced the values that best defined ourstruggle against colonialism and gave a coherent shape to the future republic and state withsecularism and welfarism at its core. These values are under threat from an organizationtoday that played no role in our long fight for independence and sided with the British, theRSS. To recognize what values came to constitute our freedom and what is under threat, weneed to examine the ideological foundations of this nefarious organization and how it isagainst everything our founding leaders strived for.When we achieved political independence, what form of government India should opt forwas a much-debated issue. It should be kept in mind that there still were more than 550princely states to be fully integrated with the emergent Republic and discussions around theWestminster system or the American system were common. Parliamentary democracy waspreferred by most of the leaders and it was adopted in our Constitution. Elaborating on thisconscious choice made by the constitution makers including Dr Ambedkar, President K RNarayanan in his address to the nation on the 50th anniversary of independence said “thatthe Drafting Committee in choosing the parliamentary system for India, preferred moreresponsibility to more stability, a system under which the government will be on the anvilevery day.”This idea of collective responsibility is under great strain today due to the encroachmentsmade by executive on other branches of the state under direct influence from the RSS. Attempts are on to make Parliament redundant and ineffective. During the freedom struggle itself, the RSS, which is essentially undemocratic, was notpleased with representative democracy and constitutional safeguards. The RSS’s admirationof the fascists in Europe and their emphasis on the leader principle made the organizationincompatible with the very functioning of a democratic society. B S Moonje, the mentor toRSS founder K B Hedgewar met Mussolini in Italy and told him that “I shall have nohesitation to raise my voice from the public platform both in India and England wheneveroccasion may arise in praise of your Balilla and fascist organizations. I wish them good luckand every success.”The RSS still follows the rule of eka chalakanuvartitva or subservience to the one ‘SupremeLeader’, making them unfit for a democratic polity. Herein lies the RSS’s contempt fordemocratic rules, norms and representation. When we say that democracy itself is underthreat from RSSBJP, the germs of that can be found in the very foundation and functioningof the RSS. Another example can be taken by considering the case of secularism, an importantfoundational value of our freedom movement. Hindus and Muslims fought shoulder toshoulder in our fight against the British. However, it is widely known and clear from thewritings of RSS leaders and ideologues that their objective is to establish a hierarchical,exclusionary and discriminatory Hindu Rashtra. Dr Ambedkar warned about this menace andsaid: “If Hindu Raj does become a fact, it will, no doubt, - Kapilkumar M. Hirpara be the greatest calamity.

However, from 1930 till 1947, Indian freedom fighters had marked and were celebrating January 26 as India’s Independence Day. India will celebrate its 75th Independence Day on August 15, 2022. The government and citizens have been celebrating ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mohatsav’ with great aplomb. The theme of Independence Day is ‘Nation First, Always First’. Even as PM Modi sets to address the nation at Red Fort in line with the tradition set by the first PM — Jawaharlal Nehru — did you know that freedom fighters and leaders including PM Nehru were in favour of declaring January 26 as Independence Day, and not August 15? This was along the lines of the Indian National Congress’s resolution of ‘Purna Swaraj’ which was adopted in the Lahore session of the INC on December 19, 1929.Jawaharlal Nehru had just been appointed the president of the Congress party and was to take over from his father, Motilal Nehru. The father – Motilal Nehru – favoured a new dominion status constitution for India. However, the then 40-year-old Jawaharlal rejected his father’s proposal and argued for a complete separation from British rule. He was supported by other Congress leaders like Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Subhas Chandra Bose, Aurobindo and Bipin Chandra Pal. In the resolution, the INC shifted to its demand for complete independence which was a deviation from the erstwhile dominion status. The resolution was passed and the Congress fixed the last Sunday of January 1930 for ‘Purna Swaraj’. The date happened to be January 26. Based on this, the INC made a public declaration was made on January 26, 1930 – a day which the Congress Party urged the Indians to celebrate as ‘Independence Day’.Days after the resolution was adopted, Nehru hoisted the national flag on the banks of the Ravi in Lahore on December 29, 1929. On the occasion, he reportedly said, “The Congress is holding its most momentous session and is going to take a great step forward in the fight.

Agency News:New Delhi The income tax department has said that the corporate tax collections till July 31 this financial year witnessed a growth of 34 per cent as compared to the collections in the corresponding period in the financial year 2021-22. The IT department tweeted that the corporate tax collections in the financial year 202122 stood at ₹7.23 lakh crore, registering a growth of over 58 per cent as compared to the collections in fiscal 2020-21. The tax department said that the collections in 2021 were higher than the collections in financial year 2018-19 (pre-Covid) by over nine per cent.“The positive trend of growth continues, but
for the overall impact of the COVID-19 pandemic during FY 2020-21, when the corporate tax collections took a temporary hit. This indicates that the simplified tax regime with low rates and no exemptions has lived up to its promise,” the income tax department tweeted.In another development, a record 72.42 lakh income tax returns were filed on the last day on July 31, PTI reported. This took the cumulative returns to 5.83 crore, close to the same numbers last year. ”The surge of filing ITRs peaked on July 31, 2022 (due date for salaried taxpayers and other non-tax audit cases) with over 72.42 lakh ITRs being filed on a single day,” an official statement said. The total ITRs filed till July 31.

Opening new frontiers in female reproductive medicine in the country, Institute of Kidney Diseases & Research Centre (IKDRC) on Saturday announced uterus transplantation procedure for the treatment of absolute uterine factor infertility (AUFI) condition. With this announcement, IKDRC has become the first public sector healthcare facility in India to offer uterus transplant bringing relief to hundreds of women unable to conceive due to AUFI.“Uterus
transplant at IKDRC has come as a boon for females with AUFI condition who are not only socially stigmatised but also undergo deep emotional stress for not able to produce a child,”said Dr Vineet Mishra, Director IKDRC-ITS. According to Dr Mishra, the institute will initially encourage only live related transplants in which close biologically related kin of a female with AUFI condition could participate at their own volition. The uterus donors shall be, ideally, between the age group of 30-60 years with healthy uterus.“We have drawn up plans to commence cadaver uterus transplant in near future depending upon results of live related transplants,” added Dr Mishra. The institute has also made arrangements to offer pre and post uterus transplant.
