Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya: PM Modi Inaugurates Museum to Honour Prime Ministers of India

‘Normal’ monsoon at 99% of LPA likely this year, says IMD

Agency News: New Delhi Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Pradhanmantri Sanghralaya in New Delhi on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti on Thursday. He bought the first ticket and took a tour of the museum.“The main responsibility of this Parliamentary system has been on the office of the Prime Minister of the country. It is my good fortune that today I have

got the opportunity to dedicate the Prime Minister’s Museum to the nation,” he saidHe also acknowledged and greeted the families of the past PMs present on the occasion of the inauguration of the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya.“When the country is celebrating the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence, this museum has come as a grand inspiration. In these 75 years, the country has seen many proud moments. The importance of

these moments in the window of history is incomparable,” he said. Modi reiterated his appreciation of the contribution of all the governments since independence. He said “Every government formed in independent India has contributed in taking the country to the height it is at today. I have repeated this thing many times from Red Fort also.”He said that the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya has also become a living reflection of the shared

heritage of each government. Commenting on the logo of the museum which has many hands holding the chakra, PM

Agency News: New Delhi India’s weather office has predicted a normal monsoon, the fourth consecutive one, in 2022, a projection that, if it pans out, could cool inflation and also provide a boost to the rural economy.Monsoon rainfall is likely to be “normal” at 99% of long period average (LPA) with an error margin of +/-5%, India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its long-range forecast on Thursday. This monsoon is likely to be the fourth consecutive one when it has been in “normal” or “above normal” range. Last year monsoon rainfall was 99% of LPA (normal); in 2020, monsoon was 109% of LPA (above normal); in 2019 monsoon was 110% of LPA (above normal). The last time India saw four consecutive years of normal or above normal monsoons was

14 years ago, between 2005 and 2008, according to IMD officials. The June-to-September rainbearing system is often called the life-blood of the country’s economy as half of all Indians depend on farm-derived income and nearly 40% of India’s netsown area does not have access to irrigation.A normal monsoon this year is critical as global food prices have hit record highs due to food shortage amid the Ukraine conflict. A sub-par monsoon cuts farm yields, output and farm incomes, increasing India’s dependence on food imports.A robust monsoon will help put a lid on food inflation by increasing domestic output of a variety of goods and commodities. Millions of farmers await the rainy season to begin summer sowing of key crops, such as rice, sugar, cotton, coarse cereals, lentils, gram and edible oils.

The government on Thursday also formally announced that all of its specialised school of excellence will be named after Ambedkar. Agency News: New Delhi Reiterating his government’s commitment to realise the vision of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s work in the field of education in the national Capital has helped change the political discourse from abusing rivals to discussion on quality of schools.“I am extremely happy that the state of politics in the country has changed because

of us. Politicians have been forced to talk about schools instead of abusive politics and hooliganism. A competition of sorts is taking place over the quality of schools in the country. We label our schools as the best, the opposition debates that instead of their hate politics. We go to Haryana, Gujarat and expose the pathetic state of schools there, and the ruling party comes to defend it. This is a great precedent,” Kejriwal said in his address at a special event organised at Thyagaraj Stadium by the government to mark the birth

anniversary of Dr Ambedkar. The government on Thursday also formally announced that all of its specialised school of excellence will be named after Ambedkar.“We have made lessons on Ambedkar’s life compulsory in all Delhi schools. Babasaheb had a dream that every child in this country, whether rich or poor, must receive quality education. He had to endure a lot of struggle on his path to get a good education. He wanted that no child should face such hurdles to get educated in Independent India, no matter what background.

Eshwarappa, the state minister for rural development and panchayat raj,

has repeatedly said that he never met the contractor, Santosh Patil, who was found dead in a Udupi hotel on Tuesday.“Under the government led by Basavaraj Bommai, I have worked as a minister till today. Today, I have made a decision that I will resign from the post of minister tomorrow (Friday),” Eshwarappa said on Thursday in Shivamogga, about 350km from Bengaluru.Patil blamed Eshwarappa and his aides for forcing him to take the extreme step in a purported suicide note. Prime Minister Must See That His Promise ‘Na Khaane Doonga’ Is Implemented Civil contractor Santosh Patil took his life in an Udupi lodge, accusing Karnataka RuralDevelopment Minister KS Eshwarappa of driving him to suicide. An FIR was lodged namingEshwarappa as the prime accused. The “Others” included all his lackeys. But the gallowsjoke doing the rounds was that if pressed to resign, Eshwarappa would demand a 40 percentcommission. That is how pathetic the Karnataka situation is.Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai should have rolled out the Imran Khan carpet toEshwarappa. If communion could be delivered to a Prime Minister, a mere minister couldn’thave withstood the pressure. Bommai and the Bharatiya Janata Party have been left singedfrom the corruption fire. Entrepreneur Kiran Mazumdar Shaw should advise the Congress togo for the kill. The BJP was never more vulnerable. That said, steps were afoot to pitch resignation for the alleged suicide-abettor. Else Bommaiwould be up to his absent hairline in accusations that his government was protecting analleged criminal. The feeling most people got was that the party and state government didnot know what to do with Eshwarappa?Arresting Eshwarappa was easy if the party’s central leadership had set its heart on it. Thequestion was could the BJP’s “zero tolerance for crime”, and minus-zero tolerance forcriminals, be sacrificed at the altar of electoral politics? The usual behaviour of politicalparties in such situations is to not take action for fear of sustaining electoral losses. The next question then would be should Chief Minister Bommai think of letting Eshwarappago unscathed? If he does that, his name will forever be associated with that of the redsandalwood smuggler in the movie ‘Pushparaj’; whose shuffling dance-steps in any casewould have been too difficult for Bommai to ape. That said the BJP is in the crosshairs. Karnataka—the land of hijab, halal and KiranMazumdar Shaw— will not forgive Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai if he doesn’t dispatchbulldozers to level Eshwarappa’s ill gotten properties to the ground. The bulldozer is thecurrent symbol of BJP-power, and its zerotolerance for corruption/crime.And Eshwarappa is at the centre of the BJP’s “40 percent cut” corruption scandal. A demandshould be made to replace Bommai with Yogi Adityanath if bulldozers are not sent byBommai to demolish Eshwarappa’s reputation. If Yogi Adityanath and Shivraj Chouhan canturn heroes in their respective Hindutva strongholds with bulldozers, why cannot BasavarajBommai? After all, the centre-piece of BR Ambedkar’s Constitution of India is every Indian citizen’sright to equality. But every citizen’s right to life is equally paramount. Sadly, life is very cheapin India. And Santosh Patil’s right to life was zilch to minister Eshwarappa, for which theKarnataka government should be charged with murder. The 40 percent cut corruption scam is a Karnataka government enterprise, a very successfulone at that. Till contractor Santosh Patil hung it out to dry from the rafters of a lodge. By theway, the 40percentcut is a conglomeration of bribes, starting with 10% at the time ofsubmission of application for a government contract.Next, 10-12 percent “cut” at the time of submission of the bill and further cuts as and whencutdemands were made. A total of more than 40 percent cut, president of the BBMPContractors Association, KT Manjunath told a TV news channel, shamelessly admitting thathe, too, made the cut to land plum contracts!Shouldn’t bulldozers be sent to the doorsteps of Manjunath and his associates in the BBMPContractors Association? A probe to investigate the ‘cut scandal’ should be ordered, and theentire Bommai ministry should be investigated along with every one of the contractorsenrolled with the BBMP Contractors’ Association. Both bribe-givers as well as bribe-takers should be prosecuted. The amounts of moneyinvolved are massive. It appears like the sleuths of the income tax department, and theenforcement directorate, were sent to the wrong states. Corruption like charity should beginfrom home. And since it is the month of Ramzan, corrupt Karnataka ministers should be investigated, tried and sentenced to shell out ‘zakat’ to the government. Maryadha Purshottam Ram wouldhave wholeheartedly agreed. Also, the punishment should match the crime plus a long spellbehind bars. Santosh Patil left behind a nine-month old. In Whatsapp messages, which are his “suicidenote”, Patil asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government and former CM BSYeddurappa to ensure his “family is taken care of.”The politicians will not acknowledge delivery, and the BJP is too busy playing hijab-halal withthe Oppositi on. But a couple - Kapilkumar M. Hirpara of bulldozers stationed.

KGF Chapter 2 review: Yash’s film is an explosive tale of brash, unapologetic and larger-than-life characters Agency News: Mumbai

It was only recently that I sat down to watch KGF part 1 and in all honesty, I didn’t understand most of it. With a screenplay that was all over the place, characters getting introduced at a pace faster than a meteoroid’s crash, and a story that picked up only post-interval, I was a bit lost too early on in the film. It was only Yash’s introduction scene and his superlative performance that I thoroughly enjoyed. However, with its sequel, KGF: Chapter 2, director Prashanth Neel has created something that’s way more immersive and worth all the hype that he managed to sustain for three and a half years since the first part. KGF 2 once again recreates the dark and deadly world where chopping heads and slitting throats is the norm. Gunshots are fired at whim and there’s no remorse in anyone’s heart. One of the finest sequels to have come out in a long time, KGF 2 takes off right from where the first part ended. As Anand Ingalagi (Anant Nag), the author of El Doradao is hospitalised and can no longer narrate the story of KGF (Kolar Gold Fields) and rise of Rocky, his son Vijayendra Ingalagi (Prakash Raj) takes over. In his words, Raja Krishnappa Bairya aka Rocky Bhai has built an “indestructible empire” in KGF and wants to conquer even bigger things. While he has already killed Garuda in part 1 and turned ruler of the gold mines, in the sequel, he comes face to face with the deadly Adheera (Sanjay Dutt), who won’t let an outsider take over something that he helped build. Meanwhile, Rocky’s power-hungry games have also caught the attention of Prime Minister Ramika Sen (Raveena Tandon), who wants his downfall and death. KGF 2 starts on a high note and dives into the stories of the characters it had well established in part 1. As the story unfolds, it brings in a lot many characters without interrupting the pace of the story or screenplay. Touted as a hard-core action flick, the way these scenes have been shot with so much detail, it creates a visual spectacle in its truest sense. While most of KGF world revolves around Rocky’s rise to fame and power, chapter 2 gives us a peek into his emotional side as well with a love story and flashbacks that keep reminding us of the reason.
