Four Meghalaya MLAs Join Hooch Tragedy in Bihar Raised G20 Summit to Provide Good BJP as Party Seeks North-east During Zero Hour in Lok Sabha Opportunity to Further Develop SUNVILLA SAMACHAR Agency News: New Delhi issue of the death of young actors Delhi, Says Manish Sisodia Gujarat win wasn’t just a face-saver for BJP. Boost in Upcoming Polls in gyms. Raising the issue during Editorial

It also took care of party’s headline tension

Agency News: New Delhi

The record-breaking win in the Gujarat assembly election was the BJP’s saving grace. Senior party leaders are of the view that if it wasn’t for the BJP’s win in Gujarat, then a negative campaign had been created in the media over the results. The MCD and Himachal Pradesh results would have made them come up with headlines like this: ‘Second defeat for BJP in 24 hours’. But the massive victory in Gujarat ended the party’s headline tension. What happened in Gujarat after BJP’s win is called Modi’s style of work and vision. Everyone in the party has been told to adopt it. The vision is that the committee to appoint the legislature party leader must have Rajnath Singh as the senior most leader as well as BS Yediurappa and Arjun Munda as members. Karnataka will go to polls in April so Yediurappa must get prominence. And Arjun Munda? Well, Gujarat has a lot of Adivasi seats and also because Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, which have many Adivasi voters, are going to polls next year. It means even the legislature party committee is being formed with long-term politics in mind. Word on the street is that a senior BJP leader is in search of someone who is well-versed in Mahabharata. The reason is Shakuni. Yes, a book on this character from Mahabharata is supposedly on the cards, which could be released before the 2024 Lok Sabha election. Why the timing is anybody’s guess. The story is from the day of the results. The fact that the Congress was headed for trouble was visible from the get-go. Himachal Pradesh was turning out to be a solace but the hearts in the party camp were beating fast. Some were even suggesting that weak hearts should avoid when the BJP was seen gaining. Just then the door bell of a general secretary rang. The call was from the national president’s office, seeking feedback. The staff, before transferring the call, communicated to their aide that the president wanted to talk to the general secretary, who relayed the same feeling. Weak hearts should avoid - Kapilkumar M. Hirpara watching the result for a while.

Four Meghalaya MLAs, including two from the state’s ruling National People’s Party, joined the BJP on Wednesday as the party looks to expand its footprints in the north-eastern region ahead of assembly polls in the state. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is the party’s pointsman for the region, said the joining of the four “experienced and respected” political figures will mark a “new beginning” for the BJP in the state, where it could win only two seats in the 60 member-assembly in the 2018 polls. Though the state’s ruling NPP has been a member of the BJP-led National Democratic Party, their relations have been far from smooth. The BJP’s decision to induct two of its MLAs, Benedic Marak and Ferlin Sangma, into its fold underscores its determined push to corner the NPP and emerge as a strong force in the state ahead of the polls likely to be held in February. two girls walking by the roadside when a bike slows down and one of the riders throws a liquid substance from a glass at the 17-year-old. She is then seen holding her face and running, clearly in extreme pain. Eyewitnesses said the girl ran to a neighbour who helped wash the chemical off her face. “My daughters, one aged 17 and the other 13, were out together this morning. Suddenly, two men on a bike threw acid at my elder daughter and drove away. They had covered their faces,” the girl’s father told.

Ishan Porel (5/35) starred with the ball in his comeback game, but Bengal batsmen bungled once again. Courtesy Porel and his pace colleague Pritam Chakraborty (3/63), who’s playing his first first-class game in almost eight years, Bengal bowled Uttar Pradesh out for a paltry 198 after inserting the visitors in on a pacefriendly wicket at Eden Gardens on Tuesday. But the response from their batsmen was poor as Uttar Pradesh left them reeling at 29 for 4 at stumps on Day 1 of their Ranji Trophy opener. In a nutshell, it’s Uttar Pradesh’s players with IPL experience — Priyam Garg (53), Rinku Singh (79) and pacer Shivam Mavi (3/14) — who have troubled

If you thought Indians only loved cricket, you were wrong. One of the big features of the Qatar World Cup has been the large number of Indians in the stands, and their particular affection for Argentina, Lionel Messi and Brazil. The most obvious reason for this is the huge Indian population living in Qatar as migrant workers. Around 25% of the 2.9 million people residing in Qatar are estimated to be Indian. But it is not just the workers. Indians are jetting in from their home country to watch the first World Cup held in the Arab world, the nearest the tournament has been to India. All visiting fans need a Hayya identity card to enter Qatar and stadiums.

Bengal so far in this game. Early on, it was Garg and Rinku whose 89-run fourth-wicket stand helped the visitors recover a little bit after Bengal had them wobbling at 26/3. But Mavi dismissed Abhishek Das, Koushik Ghosh and Sudip Gharami, putting the pressure right back on the home team. The current situation requires nightwatchman Chakraborty (12 batting) and allrounder Sayan Sekhar Mondal (4 batting) to remain unscathed at least till the end of first hour on Wednesday.

Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar: The 15-year-old Afghanistan spinner in the IPL 2023 auction list

Dreamer coach Walid Regragui not ready to wait

Agency News : New Delhi

Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar is a 15-year-old spinner from Afghanistan. The right-arm offspinner became the youngest player to register himself for the upcoming IPL auctions scheduled on December 23 in Kochi. The 6ft-2-inches tall tweaker, who hails from Paktia province, had registered himself for the Big Bash League auctions, but couldn’t find any takers. His bowling action is said to be similar to his compatriot Mujeeb Zadran but the Afghani said that he is inspired by India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. “Ashwin has been a champion spinner for India, and I like his variations. I have always

considered him my inspiration,” Ghazanfar told Sportstar from Kabul. “I started with tennis ball cricket and would play in my neighborhood, but under the guidance of my coach, I started bowling spin, and soon, I developed an action, and there hasn’t been any looking back since,” the youngster added.

Two million applications were received, with 56,893 coming from Indian nationals — second only to Saudi Arabia in the overall list. What is also maybe surprising is that Indian fans — and indeed supporters from Bangladesh and Sri Lanka — have predominantly been supporting Argentina and Brazil in Doha. “In India there is a huge fanbase for football, but we gravitate more to the Latin American nations rather than the European ones,” says Shayon Bagchi, a fan who had come all the way from India to watch matches in Qatar. “We are all third-world countries, maybe that’s the reason. If you come to cities like Kolkata you will see the streets are painted green and yellow for Brazil or white and blue for Argentina.”

Corbeil-Essonnes is a suburb in Paris where life is not easy. And Walid Regragui, the Morocco coach who was born there, knows what it takes to thrive in adversity. The 47-year-old has done wonders with the Moroccan team becoming the first African nation to enter the World Cup semi-final. Probably, the daily struggle at CorbeilEssonnes in his formative years gave him the strength to take on the world but Regragui would rather

not dwell on it. “I don’t want to talk about social exclusion, living in a difficult suburb (CorbeilEssonnes). I was from a difficult neighbourhood and I had to fight more than other people. If it can help me, it would be great. It could make me hungrier,” he says. Nobody gave Morocco a chance to qualify from Group F — comprising last edition’s runnersup Croatia, the No.2-ranked team Belgium, and Canada. But the Atlas Lions defied all odds and topped the group like they had done in 1986. Next, they knocked out heavyweights Spain and Portugal. Could France, the country which ruled them for years, be next to fall by the wayside on Wednesday? Noted Nigerian journalist Kunle Solaja, who is covering World Cups since 1990.

Wheat stock in the country has fallen to its lowest in six years and the prices have also jumped to a record high on rising demand and falling inventories, according to a Reuters report quoting government data. The total wheat reserves in state stores stood at 19 million tonnes at the start of this month, lower than 37.85 million tonnes on December 1, 2021. The report added that the current stocks for December are at the lowest since 2016, when inventories had fallen to 16.5 million tonnes because of backto-back droughts in 2014 and 2015 that curtailed wheat output. “The new crop supplies would start only after four months. The government’s task of calm prices is becoming more difficult every month. It can’t release more than 2 million tonnes in a month to bring down prices. The market needs much more as farmers supplies have nearly stopped and traders

are slowly releasing stocks,” the report quoted a Mumbai-based dealer with a global trade house, as saying. Last week, in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha, agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar said, “The prices of agricultural produce including wheat are determined by the demand and supply conditions in the market, international prices etc.” As per data, all-India monthly average wholesale prices of wheat stood at Rs 2,228 per quintal in January, Rs 2,230 in February, Rs 2,339 in March, Rs 2,384 in April, Rs 2,352 in May, Rs 2,316 in June, Rs 2,409 in July, Rs 2,486 in August, Rs 2,516 in September, Rs 2,571 in October and Rs 2,721 per quintal in November. Raj Kapoor: The Star Who Enjoyed Superstardom Abroad Agency News : Mumbai

One of the greatest stalwarts of Indian cinema, Raj Kapoor was born on this day, 98 years ago. Born on December 14, 1924, to one of the pioneers of Indian talkies, Prithviraj Kapoor, it was no surprise that Raj would follow in his father’s footsteps into films. Eventually, his brothers Shammi Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor did the same. The way Raj Kapoor experimented with cinema, both as an actor and a filmmaker, was unique. He was thought to be light years ahead of his time, which is precisely why it is believed that some of his most ambitious projects like Mera Naam Joker failed at the box office at that time. The 1951 film Awara was the movie that introduced Raj Kapoor to the Soviet Union, and

people there fell in love with him. The movie Awara was dubbed into the Russian language and released there as ‘Bradagya’. It is said that people in the Soviet used to stand in queues for hours in the rain to purchase a film ticket. Once Jawaharlal Nehru went to Russia and was given a government banquet. During this, when it was the turn of the then Prime Minister of Russia, Nikolai Bulganin to speak, he sang the famous song Awara Hoon from Raj Kapoor’s film along with his ministers.

Taking the legacy ahead of ‘Barrister Babu’, ‘Durga Aur Charu’ showcases the story of Anirudh and Bondita’s daughters, Durga (elder) and Charu (younger). At a very young age, the two sisters who face a devastating blow with the passing of their parents are eventually separated. This traumatising incident takes a toll on Durga, and she grows up to be a shy and meek girl unlike her mother. She is raised by her grandparents Binoy and Sampoorna in the Roy Chowdhary mansion. Her elder sister, Charu is raised by street performers, Banke and Bholi. She has grown to be a fearless girl just like her mother, Bondita. While both the sisters aspire to become barristers, they’re oblivious to each other’s existence. Will they know that they’re sisters and unite? I am playing the role of Durga, the elder daughter of Anirudh and

Bondita and Charu’s sister. In her childhood, Durga witnesses her parents’ death and gets separated from her sister Charu. Owing to this trauma, Durga, who lives with her grandparents grows up to become a shy and subservient person bust aspires to become a Barrister. ‘Barrister Babu’ has been a great success on television and has a huge fan base. I am aware of the love and affection people have for ‘Barrister Babu’. Considering it all, I chose ‘Durga Aur Charu’ as a great chance for me to explore acting.
