The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) on June 10 announced that the efficacy of the Sputnik V was estimated at 94.3% during a vaccination campaign by
Bahrain’s ministry of health. However, the World Health Organization (WHO) has not yet approved Sputnik V as an emergency vaccine. Sputnik V is set to make its entry in India after a rollout is expected in Delhi’s Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, based on the number of consignments received by the hospital, The first phase of the Sputnik V rollout by Apollo Hospitals and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories started on a pilot basis on May 17 in Hyderabad and the next day in Visakhapatnam. 60,471 COVID-19 cases, 2,726 deaths reported in India in a day Agency News: New Delhi The health ministry on Tuesday informed that over 60,471 fresh cases of COVID-19 have been reported in India in the past 24 hours. The addition of the fresh cases has taken the COVID-19 case tally past 2.95 crore. It is the lowest single-day surge in cases in the past 75 days.The ministry also informed that over 25.90 crore COVID-19 jabs have been administered so far. Of it, over 39.27 lakh people were vaccinated on Monday.India has already surpassed Brazil in terms of cases. It is now the

The recovery rate had marginally dipped for the first time on August 27, 2020, because of the surge in active cases. It again dropped marginally on September 7, 10 and 11, and on November 25, 26 and 27 due to a surge in cases.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday ended all criminal cases against two Italian marines accused of shooting two Indian fishermen off the Kerala coast in 2012 resulting in their death. The apex court said that Italy must carry out the probe in the incident, and India and Kerala must cooperate in the probe.The court also directed that the Rs 10 crore compensation given by Italy must be transferred to the Kerala High Court. Notably, the Union government had deposited the money received from Italy with the registry of the Supreme Court. The apex court has directed the Kerala High Court to nominate a judge who can oversee the distribution of the compensation so that there is no misappropriation.

In a dispute concerning an alleged nexus between online travel booking portals MakeMyTrip and GoIbibo with Oravel Stays Pvt Ltd (otherwise known as Oyo Rooms) that was allegedly skewing competition for other budget hotel franchises, a division bench of the Gujarat High Court on Monday directed Competition Commission of India (CCI) to afford Oyo Rooms an opportunity of hearing. The Gujarat HC bench headed by Chief Justice Vikram Nath was hearing two appeals filed by two competing hotel chains — FabHotels, registered under the company name ‘Casa2 Stays Pvt. Ltd.’ and Treebo, registered as Rubtub Solutions Pvt. Ltd — and
The CCI in an order dated March 9 had ruled in favour of Treebo and FabHotels, directing MMT-Go that the two hotel chains be relisted. also set aside a CCI order of March this year that had ruled favourably for FabHotels and Treebo. The two chains had been delisted from the online booking platform portals of MakeMyTrip (MMT) and GoIbibo (Go) in 2018 following which, the two hotel chains had approached CCI in 2020, with applications before the regulatory body seeking interim relief that

It was the case of both FabHotels and Treebo before the CCI that a “prima facie case” was made out that MMT-Go is a dominant entity and “has abused its dominance/ market power to…discriminate between similarly placed players in the market for franchising budget hotels in India, … deny market access to FabHotels and cause market foreclosure, and… enter into arrangements with OYO…”, further adding that a large chunk of revenue and bookings for Treebo and FabHotels came through the two online portals. Four caught with fake notes in Gujarat’s Valsad distric Agency News: Surat Four persons from interior villages of Valsad district were nabbedon Sunday for printing and circulating fake currency notes of 500denomination. Earlier, the special operations group (SOG) of Valsad police had detainedZipru Bhoya, an auto-rickshaw driver. Bhoya was caught from Dharampurand 66 fake notes were recovered from him.
Questioning him led thepolice to three other accused identified as Parse alias Parshu Pawar, ChituBhujad and Parth Shah, all residents of Dharampur. As many as 88 fake currency notes of 500 denomination were recoveredfrom the three accused. The four told police that they used to print thefake currency notes and circulate it at village markets situated along theGujarat-Maharashtra border. The accused used

During interrogation the accused revealed that another gang member named Ajay used to print these notes. “He used to scanthe original notes and would make it look like an original note by minor editing in some software and print them,” said inspectorV B Barad of SOG.
