On Tuesday, the Indian Embassy in Kyiv advised its nationals to leave the country temporarily. State television showed images of military units crossing a bridge linking the Russia-controlled peninsula to the mainland. The statement said tanks, infantry vehicles and artillery were leaving Crimea by rail. It comes a day after Moscow said it was pulling back some of the troops deployed

on its neighbour’s borders. Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden once again warned Russia against any invasion of Ukraine, a possibility the latter has vehemently denied, saying that the US and its NATO allies would respond decisively if such an invasion happened. But Western leaders remain concerned that Russia could still launch an attack on Ukraine, with US President Joe Biden warning on Tuesday that an attack by Moscow remained “very much a possibility”. Biden said that despite Russian claims earlier in the day, Washington.

Poll Scenario Gets More Interesting As Pm Pitches For Bjp-Amarinder Political parties have been told by the Punjab Pollution Control Board to keep the noise level to the permissible limit. Notices have been issued to a few bombastic politicians. That said, the PPCB diktat matches Navjot Singh Sidhu’s frame of mind. The volatile Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee chief has been quiet after Rahul Gandhi named Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi the chief ministerial face of the Congress. The state ruled by the Congress now is going for polling on February 20 with the big question who is the next CM of this border state Channi or the AAP nominee Bhagwant Mann. Can PM NarenfraModispring a surprise? So, it is that Navjot Singh Sidhu, who has in him the laughter to bring down the house, isnowadays quieter than a church mouse even as Channi’s rivals hush-hush about Channi’schurch connection. It could boomerang, electorally. The “der aaye durusth aaye” Prime Minister Narendra Modi sought to raise the electoralpitch with a visit to Punjab on Valentine’s Day, hoping against hope no political analyst worth his analysis would dismiss him and the BJP with a “there is no love lost between Modi and the Punjab electorate.” Just to be on the safe side, Modi sought votes for “NDA”, steadfastlyrefusing to mention “BJP.”The last time the Prime Minister was in Punjab, his SPGmotorcade was brought to anabrupt halt atop a Ferozepur flyover from where he couldn’t see what was happeningbeyond his nose. Forced to a U-turn, Modi thanked Channi for ensuring he returned alive toBhatinda airport, once again strengthening the belief that if he hadn’t chosen politics, Modiwould have excelled in theatrics. Now, the Supreme Court is seized of the matter and Channi has given his police a cleanchit. Also, the Punjab farmers didn’t have to shout to be heard because the BJP wassmarting. Modi did make a passing reference to the security lapse on his Valentine’s Dayvisit to Punjab, but his attention was focused on giving the NDA a “majority in Punjab.”The NDA in Punjab is Capt. Amarinder Singh plus the BJP and add to them erstwhile SADleader Manjinder Singh Sirsa to give the impression that Prime Minister Narendra Modi hasthe Sikhs’ back. Modi asserted the NDA will come to power in “Nava Punjab” March 10,2022, and then the “nasha” scourge plaguing Punjab will disappear overnight — Modi’spromise to Punjab’s mothers.Modi wasn’t even thinking of Channi when he offered the moms of Punjab the offer to servePunjab with a “double-engine Sarkar” for the next five years. In your service, he emphasized. Modi also seemed quite unaware of AAP’s chief ministerial face Bhagwant Singh Mann, whoAAP convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal says will sweep clean the polls. Kejriwal is confident the AAP will be chosen by Punjab and Channi would never make thecut like he did with Rahul Gandhi’s hand on his head. Compared to the Congress and NDA,AAP appears to be riding a wave of favour. People want “change” and though this has beenthe cliché since Barack Obama made the cut in 2008, Punjab could do with some genuinetransformation. That does not necessarily mean a change of guard. While AAP has its fair share of support,Channi and the Congress aren’t bereft of the sentiment. Channi’s short tenure so far haswon him appreciation; he’s regarded as cool and composed. Besides, the smooth manner inwhich he navigated past the Sidhu hurdles has also won him hearts and tons of hardcorefans. That doesn’t mean, Bhagwant Singh Mann will be bested, a walkover. If AAP sweeps cleanthe elections, Mann will have the honour of being the first AAP Chief Minister of Punjab, andonly the second AAP Chief Minister in AAP’s existence. Mann’s yellow turban is a beacon forthe ‘broom-holders’. Even Kejriwal cannot do zilch to Mann and the inevitable if AAP sails infirst.Mann, a comedian-turned-politician, is contesting from the Dhuri assembly constituency inSangrur, which is in the Malwa belt and any party which clinches ‘Malwa’ goes on to rulePunjab. The battle royal in Malwa is between the Congress and the AAP and the consensusis that both are pitching high though there’s the sneaking feeling that the AAP probably hasthe better chance. The AAP, it is believed, has the advantage of the “Jatta vote” against the “Dalit vote” of ChiefMinister Charanjit Singh Channi. Rahul Gandhi was lauded for choosing a Dalit CM anddeciding to stick with a “Dalit CM.” But the AAP’s stock slogan is “Punjab Bachauna Hai”,and that, says AAP, - Kapilkumar M. Hirpara can only be with AAP and Mann.

The actress has started prepping for her role as the most celebrated woman fast bowler of India Agency News: Mumbai Agency News: Mumbai Late singer-composer Bappi Lahiri was known as much for his gold jewellery as his hit songs. In an interview in 2007, he reacted to actor Bipasha Basu’s joke that she wanted to steal his jewellery. Bappi died on Tuesday night at Mumbai’s CritiCare Hospital. He was 69. He had been battling obstructive sleep apnea since last year. During an appearance on Aaj Tak’s Seedhi Baat, Bappi was told to beware of Bipasha, as she had her eye on his gold jewellery. He laughed and replied, “No, she is very sweet. Woh aise maange, main de dunga. Chori karna nahi padega, le lo (If she just asks, I will give it to her. She won’t have to steal, she can just take it).” He added, “I like her, she is very good-looking and Bong (Bengali).” Earlier, in an interview with Bombay Times, Bipasha had called Bappi ‘such an amazing person’. “And every time I see him, I want to rob him of his jewellery. He wears such lovely gold jewellery; it’s full of these little Gods, and that’s something I absolutely love,” she had said. Bappi was a pioneer of disco in Hindi cinema of the 80s and 90s. He had sung songs in films such as Disco Dancer.

Her diet will also be tweaked to the needs, and she is looking to hire a professional for the same,” the source adds. The actress is known to transform herself for films, and with a character like Jhulan, Anushka is surely pushing her boundaries as an actor. ‘My father was ahead of his time, he wore sunglasses to a party at night’, says Bappi Lahiri’s son Bappa Lahiri

Agency News: Mumbai Singer-composer Bappi Lahiri, who popularised disco music in Indian cinema in the 80s and 90s, has died following multiple health issues. He was 69.Bappi is survived by his wife Chitrani, son Bappa, and daughter Rema Lahiri. In an earlier interview with The Free Press Journal, Bappa Lahiri recalled how his father, who was ahead of his time, wore sunglasses to a party at night in the 80s. The world knows Bappi Lahiri as the iconic singer and music composer with shades and bling that make for his signature look. Bappa looked back the time when people would criticise his father’s choice of couture and style. “As a child, I would think why my friends were talking about him, his clothes. Today, when I look back, he has made his mark. I see a lot of people dress up like him; many sport gold chains and sunglasses. I always knew my father was someone special and I’m really proud

of him,” he said. Bappa, who assisted his dad for more than 15 years added, “I don’t think I can be what he is. I can’t even put a dot on it or the things that he has done. Obviously, you cannot compare. I have studied and programmed his music. If he would do the songs, I’d do the background score for the films that he did in mid-2000. I always say music comes from your heart, it’s something that you feel rather than make. The songs that I’ve done sound different than that of dad’s. But at the same time, I’ve learnt a lot from him. When you compose a piece of music, your approach is always different. My first inspiration and how I got into music is from him.” When asked if he feels any pressure of carrying forward his father’s legacy, Bappa asserted, “I am his son; his legacy are his songs. People celebrate that and I cannot change it. I will simply breathe air into it and take it further.” Bappi Lahiri has been credited with popularizing disco music in India. He is the maverick creator of songs.

All eyes will be on the opening fixture between defending champions Saurashtra and record 41-time champions Mumbai here with Rahane and

Both veterans have been working hard in the nets and their coaches feel a big knock is around the corner.
