We have been casually using language and words that are insulting to women. Can we not

I see this women’s power (“naari shakti”) and therefore I insist on it,” he said. He laid out five key resolutions, which he called the “Panch Pran”, including the “big resolution” of making India a developed country. Detailing the challenges that the country faces in the period leading to the centenary year, Modi said, “I do not want to discuss everything but would definitely want to focus on two issues. One is corruption and the other is nepotism (“bhaibhatijawad”) and the dynasty system (“parivarwad”).

Prime Minister’s Five Pledges On Independence Day Mean Very Little To Poor

Prime Minister Narendra Modi must have burned midnight oil to think up his five pledges toturn India into a country of his dreams by 2047, independent India’s centenary year. And the’5 Modi Pledges’ appear to have limped away from the basic goals of education, health, jobsand shelter. The word that comes to mind is ‘esoteric’. Modi confirmed that he is distant from the lives ofordinary people, abstruse and mystic. An alternative would be the phrase ‘dream on’. Modidropped his ‘5 Pledges’ one by one on the heads of the invitees to the ID-extravaganza fit fora developing country of India’s standing—emerging economic superpower, except for therupee which can’t stop itself from plumbing the depths in its showdown with the dollar.Of course, in Modi-lingo the five pledges are ‘paanch praan’, five keys to unlock the lifesaving potential of India’s demographic dividend in the next 25 years when the majority ofthe demographic would be 50s, and Modi himself in the 100+. In Modi’s turn of phrase, the‘paanch praan’ is crucial for India’s development; indeed, to India’s future. And, effortlessly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi slipped in the cliché “130 crore Indians” toemphasize the intent forcefully. The right words fell from the Prime Minister’s golden tongue:‘unite’, ‘love for the country’, ‘fight against discrimination, slavery’, and ‘fellow citizens. The same words that were spoken by successive prime ministers without a comma andsemicolon misplaced. The iconic Red Fort, witness to more empty words than there areloaded ones in the dictionary, would testify that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ninth I-Dayaddress was not much different from the eight that preceded it.Except that the dreams have become loftier. Such that one could be excused for beingKafkaesque! Franz Kafka left a body of work that spelled ‘failure’ in its essence. The greatestKafkaesque was that the human being was bound to leave things incomplete; it camenaturally to man.The irony is that the incomplete phrase applied to Franz Kafka as much as it applies toPrime Minister Narendra Modi. In fact, unless you’re a literary genius, you would miss thewoods for the tree in the Kafkaesque. Much like so many of us missed the economics in theModinomics, which least had a pakhora at its core, something tangible to hold. Unlike the ‘paanch praan’, the ‘5 Modi Pledges’…1) Work for India’s development; 2)Eradicate slavery/subjugation, all forms colonial baggage; 3) Display pride in India’sheritage; 4) Achieve unity among 130 crore Indians; 5) All citizens, including PM and CMs,be model citizens; do their sworn duties. And to round it all, Modi bound them with “we haveto keep India first…paving the way for the nation to be forever united.” The Red Fort had two mechanical elephants at one of its gates—one better than the nuts-and-bolts lion that symbolized Modi’s ‘Make in India’ campaign. That Gir lion is not to beseen these days! Is it a sign of change in the offing? Compared to AAP convener ArvindKejriwal’s bread and butter freebies—powered by free eectricity and irrigated with plenty of’free-ka-paani’—Prime Minister Modi’s ‘paanch praan’ leaves everything to the imagination. Which is another way of saying that it will remain one of the many mysteries of Modi-rule thateven after eight years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi still succeeds in giving the impressionthat he is unaware of the bread and butter wants of the teeming millions. Does the PrimeMinister know, has he been told, that India has the most number of “extremely poor” in theworld?Modi’s Pledge No.1 is “work for India’s development”. The thing to note, however, is thatModi as usual was talking in election stump generalities. Nothing in India’s development ofthe past eight years was worth spelling out. Talk of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ and the world’s mostnumber of extremely poor wouldn’t have a roof over their heads to fly the tricolor was - Kapilkumar M. Hirpara agiven!Shelter like jobs.

will file the closure report before the court on account of lack of evidence to prosecute this as a case of murder. The court will decide,” a spokesperson for the crime branch said. The case was handed over to the crime branch following an uproar over the

‘Rohit didn’t see that coming and it tore him to shreds He was really hurt’: DK From not being an assured starter to now being India’s captain in all three formats, Rohit Sharma’s journey is no less than a fairytale. But like every fairytale, this one too had his share of setbacks as well. Agency News:New Delhi India captain Rohit Sharma’s international career can be divided into two halves. The opening half comprises the first six years, where he struggled to cement a place in the Indian side, lacked consistency and could not make it to India’s 2011 World Cup squad. And

then the next decade, where Rohit transformed himself into one of the most destructive and successful batters in world cricket. His career took a turn when he began opening for India in the 2013 Champions Trophy and went on to become the only batter to score three ODI double-centuries. There has been no looking back ever since

and the India captain has only gone from strength to strength. However, despite tasting success in ODIs and T20Is, for the longest time, Rohit’s Test career remained somewhat of a puzzle as he failed to break into the Playing XI on a regular basis. But all that changed in

2019, when Rohit was promoted as an opener in the home Test series against South Africa. Ever since, several openers have come and gone, but Rohit is the only constant at the top for India. From not being an assured starter to now leading Team India’s captain in all three formats, Rohit’s journey is no less than a fairytale. But like every fairytale, this one too had his share of setbacks as well. Between October 2016 and November 2017, Rohit did not get to play a single Test. And when he did look set to crack the code of Test cricket, disaster struck. In 2018, Rohit scored 78 runs.

India Football Federation (AIFF) has been banned by FIFA in its 85 year history. The AIFF ran into trouble after former president Praful Patel stayed in office beyond his term with the Supreme Court ruling it invalid and ousting him from the post. A team of FIFA-AFC had visited the country from June 21 to 23 after which the world body had set strict deadlines to approve the new constitution by July 31 and hold elections by Sept 15. Former India star Shabbir Ali called it extremely unfortunate and a massive setback for Indian football.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have agreed a deal to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder Matheus Nunes for a clubrecord fee of around 38 million pounds ($45.75 million), British media reported on Tuesday.
