Congress Sweeps Punjab Municipal Elections, gets first Mayor in Bathinda after 53 years The Congress party today won seven municipal corporations in Punjab local body polls, bagging all the bodies at Moga, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Abohar, Pathankot, Batala, and Bathinda. The counting at 2,302 wards of seven municipal corporations and 109 municipal council-nagar panchayats started on Wednesday morning. In a bid to boost tourism in Maharashtra especially post COVID-19, the state cabinet on Wednesday cleared Caravan Tourism Policy. As reported by Free Press Journal, the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation in September last year had released a draft policy seeking suggestions and objections from various stakeholders. Private players can procure caravans for tourism and as supportive infrastructure for these vehicles, the government will allow setting up of caravan parks. The government hopes to promote caravan tourism considering that Maharashtra is known for scenic beaches,
forts, mountain ranges, hill stations, forests, heritage sites, caves and dams. While these attractions have immense potential for caravan tourism, they said, the moving ‘houses’ will have great demand in remote areas where hotels are scarce.According to the policy, caravans and camper vans will be able to provide all the facilities to tourists in areas where permanent construction is prohibited. Caravan parks will be places where recreational vehicles can be parked and all the facilities including water refill, battery charging and disposal of sewage will be made available. In addition, there will be food courts and information regarding local sights. Maninder Singh, one of the most wanted people in Red Fort violence case which happened on January 26, has been arrested by Delhi Police Special Cell.The Delhi Police informed that two 4.3 feet swords were recovered from his house in Swaroop Nagar. Besides, a long video showing him swinging swords at Red Fort on January 26 has been found on his mobile phone. Other photos of his presence at the protest site of the Singhu border are also on his phone. The 30-year-old, also known as ‘Moni’ works as a car AC mechanic. Maninder was arrested under 41.1 Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) at about 7.45 pm on Tuesday near bus stop CD block Pitampura. “The arrested person was seen in a video swinging two swords at Red Fort with intent to
motivate/radicalise and energise the violent anti-national elements indulging in brutal assault/attack on police persons on duty with swords, khandas, iron rods, axes, barsaas, dandas etc and damaging historical monument Red Fort on Republic Day 2021,” the police
release said.The police said that the arrested accused has disclosed to have been radicalised by seeing provoking Facebook posts of various groups. A five-year-old male lion was injured after it has hit by a goods train near Uchaiya village of Rajula taluka in Amrelidistrict on Tuesday morning. The injured lion was first treated at Babarkot rescue centre and later shifted to Sakkarbaug zoo inJunagadh for further treatment.The forest department has formed a team under the assistant conservator of forest to probe the incident as ascertain if thetrain was moving within the prescribed speed limit. According to forest officials, the lion received injuries on its leg and head. The goods train was moving at speed of around 40kmph when it hit the lion, they said.
