Rahul to meet farmers tomorrow ahead of Kisan rally Agency : New Delhi, Apr 17

Rahul Gandhi, back from his nearly two-month long sabbatical, will hold intensive consultations with farmers tomorrow as he is expected to lead the Congress' charge on the land bill issue against the government with the Kisan rally on Sunday. The rally is being seen as some sort of a relaunch of Rahul, who is being hailed as a "mature" leader who would restore the party's health after its downturn in Lok Sabha polls.

PM Modi's visit wins hearts in Canada 'Stand-alone' trip to North American nation, Gujarat track record open doors

Agency : Toronto For all his interactions with Canadian business leaders and investors in Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver to pitch investment in India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s most powerful message to them was his very presence in Canada. “It’s very significant that Canada is in the top group of countries he has visited in his first year. Part of it is of course due to our relationship from his Gujarat days,” said Stewart Beck, CEO of the Vancouver-based Asia Pa-

cific Foundation. As Canada’s previous High Commissioner to India, Beck was a regular participant at Vibrant Gujarat summits. Early Thursday morning in Toronto, Modi met with the heads of major financial institutions. Canada’s Prime Minister Stephen Harper then joined him for a round table with a group of Canadian CEOs, including John Chen of Blackberry. Public reactions from those who attended were positive, signalling confidence in Modi’s lead-

RIL Warns on US Shale Slowdown, Refining Lifts Profit Agency : New Delhi Reliance Industries Ltd warned investors to expect slower growth from its US shale assets in the near term as a slump in oil prices prompts spending cuts. However, the company posted better than expected fourth quarter profits on Friday, led by strong growth in margins at its core refining business. Reliance, also dogged by falling production at its domestic oil and gas business, said it would focus on cutting costs in its shale operations in light of a "challenged" market outlook. The prospect of another plunge in crude prices after two months of relative stability has prompted expectations that shale oil pro-

ducers could go for another round of spending cuts. Reliance has invested $8.1 billion in three shale joint-ventures in the United States. Shale represents just a fraction of Reliance's overall profit, but is an important part of the firm's upstream business which has struggled at home. Investments to expand capacity at Reliance's core refining and petrochemicals businesses, however, helped the company post an 8.5 percent rise in consolidated net profit for the quarter ended March 31. Its financial year runs to the end of March.

ership and India’s market potential. On Thursday evening, after the two prime ministers had travelled to Vancouver, the Asia Pacific Foundation and the local chapters of C-IBC and TiE hosted a reception, and some of the guests later headed over to Harper’s state banquet for Modi in the Pacific port city. Robin Dhir, a TiE charter member and Strategic Advisor at the Fasken Martineau law firm, was one of three generations in his family – along with his father and son – who went to the Vancouver airport to see Modi and Harper arrive. After attending the banquet, Dhir said he

Oil India commissions 54 MW wind energy project in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh Agency : New Delhi Oil IndiaBSE 2.02 %, the nation's second largest stateowned oil explorer, today said it has commissioned a 54 MW wind energy project in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. Saddled between the two states, the project is split between a 16 MW capacity plant at Patan in Gujarat and a 38 MW at Chandgarh in Madhya

Pradesh, the company said in a statement. The project cost Rs 439 crore -- Rs 126.5 crore for the Gujarat side and Rs 312.45 crore for the Madhya Pradesh location. "With this, OIL's installed renewable energy capacity (commercial wind energy and solar energy projects) stands at an impressive 126.60 MW," it said. OIL said the Patan

found the vibes between the two leaders, who were together for virtually the entire duration of Modi’s visit to Canada, “extremely upbeat and complimentary”. Modi’s meeting with Canadian pension funds takes

wing of the project was commissioned on March 26 while the Chandgarh site was commissioned on March 31. "The Project, fully funded by OIL, is being run by Gamesa Wind Turbines, Chennai, who are the project developers. The Project Management consultants are Power and Energy Consultants, New Delhi," it added.

ers mentioned, six are from Gujarat (four individuals and two companies). The individuals are into share trading and angadia business while the two companies named are Dharnendra Industries Ltd and Gujarat Pipes Ltd. These individuals and companies have evaded around Rs 134 crore in taxes since 198081. The I-T department had similarly named to shame defaulters by announcing a list of tax evaders a fortnight ago. In that list, too, 11 out of the 18 top tax evaders were from Gujarat. So out of total 49 names announced till now, 17 are from Gujarat, followed by 14 from Telangana and 11 from Maharashtra. The total amount Gujarat companies and individuals owe the I-T department comes to Rs 401.55 crore. Adopting an aggressive approach, the government has for the first time gone public with names of tax defaulters. The individuals who have defaulted on taxes are Indravadan Darbar (capital gains/share trading), Devendra Shah (capital gains), Rajnikant M Desai (Angadia production and film distribution) and Girish Prabhu Das Ruparel.

forward the outreach by former Finance Minister P Chidambaram, who made a similar pitch in Toronto two

years ago. Among the investments announced since then was CPPIB’s investment of $166 million in L&T last June. Peter Sutherland, board member of the Canada-India Business Council or C-IBC and a former High Commissioner to India, said pension funds were seeking clarity on various issues during Chidambaram’s visit, while Modi’s engagement showed a personal commitment at the highest level of the government. Experts see renewed optimism and con-

fidence in India’s business environment following the change of government last year. “Canadian businesses were concerned towards the last couple of years of the UPA government that nothing was happening,” said Beck. “Even at the High Commission, we were working more closely with some states as it was difficult to get anything done at the central level.” Modi is seen to be more decisive and clear-headed about his agenda, based on his own track record in Gujarat.

Rahul Gandhi will meet farmers from different states on April 18 Agency : New Delhi Back after his sabbatical, Rahul Gandhi will be meeting delegations of farmers from different states on Saturday and hear their views on the changes being brought in the UPA's land law by the Narendra Modi government. Rahul's meeting with farmers will be held a day before the Congress' 'kisan-khet mazdoor' rally on Sunday to galvanise protests against NDA's land acquisition law. Sources said Gandhi accompanied by some senior Congress leaders including Jairam Ramesh and Digvijay Singh will meet members of various farmer organisations from states like UP, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab and Madhya Pradesh. The delegation will include farmers from Bhatta Parsaul vil-

lage from where Rahul had launched a 'padyatra' in 2011 against forcible land acquisition of farmers, a protest that had culminated in passage of Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. The party has already made it clear that the Congress Vice President will address the rally of farmers along with party President Sonia

Gandhi. The rally is being seen as a sort of a comeback announcement of Rahul and a show of strength by the party, which has been strongly opposing changes in the original Act. Congress is hoping to rally people from various parts of the country with the 'Chalo Dilli Chale' slogan which will be seen on hoardings and heard on FM radio channels on which it has booked spots.

Sedition will not be forgiven, Masarat will go to jail: Rajnath Agency : New Delhi Adopting a stern stance against the ongoing protest in the Valley, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said that government will not compromise on the country's unity and integrity and the Kashmiri separatist leader Masarat Alam, who is under detention at present, will be sent to jail. Over two dozen people, including security personnel, were injured in Srinagar on Friday when protesters fought a pitched battle with security forces after Friday prayers over Alam's detention. The Congress said the state government had acted only after the issue was raised by the media, while the

BJP -- an alliance partner of the PDP that governs the state -- said anybody involved in anti-national activities should be punished. Srinagar witnessed violence when stone-pelting youth battled the security forces in the Jamia Masjid area at Nowhatta in the old city. Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, who heads

the moderate group of the Hurriyat conference, delivered the Friday sermon at the Jamia Masjid and criticised the state government for keeping separatist leaders Syed Ali Geelani and Alam under house arrest. Rajnath Singh on Friday said that those indulging in sedition will be dealt with sternly.

J&K Will See Mid-Term Polls in a Year? Congress today attacked the BJP for "allowing" the release of separatist leaders like Masarat Alam in Jammu and Kashmir and claimed that the state will witness midterm polls within a year. Congress leader Sham Lal Sharma asked the cadre to remain prepared to ensure a thumping majority for the party in the mid-term polls. He accused the Narendra Modi-led government of allowing the release of separatist leaders like Masarat Alam who hoisted Pakistan flag and raised anti-India and pro-Pakistan slogans during a rally in Srinagar. "Bhagwat Gita says that whatever has happened has happened for good... You people have to ensure a thumping majority for Congress in the Assembly polls which we feel will be held within one or one-and-a-half year," former JK minister Sham Lal Sharma said during a day-long convention of the party in Jammu today. He accused BJP of exploiting the religious sentiments of people. "BJP sold Lord Rama for the sake of power, they exploited the religious sentiments of the people of the country and the state. Even Ravana succeeded in kidnapping Sita by means of deceit and they have taken power by means of deceit," Sharma said. He said that the Congress-NC alliance had kept separatist leader Masarat Alam behind the bars during its tenure. "When we were in power we kept Masarat Alam behind the bars for more than four years. While both the coalition partners are guilty, but BJP is guiltier for deceiving not only the people of the state but of the country," he said. "Soon after being sworn in as the chief minister, when Mufti Mohammed Sayeed thanked Pakistan for allowing elections in the state why the Deputy Chief Minister did not objected?" he asked. Sharma said that when his party was part of the previous ruling coalition it raised the issues of the people of Jammu region. "Even when we were in alliance with PDP we made sure that Jammu gets its due share and even during our tenure with NC we even asked Omar Abdullah to leave the chair, we did everything possible for Jammu region and also took along all the other regions of the state," Sharma said. Sharma also said that much was being said about the rehabilitation of the Kashmiri Pandits nothing was being done for the migrants from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and West Pakistan. "They remember only Kashmiri Pandits. We are not against them but what about the rehabilitation of the people who became refugees post 1947," he said. Sharma also asked the people of Jammu to be prepared for launching an agitation for getting an AIIMS for Jammu region. "We have to come on roads, for AIIMS, for refugees, for border residents and for permanent settlement of the farmers who suffered crop damage," he said. Meanwhile, president of Pradesh Congress Committee Ghulam Ahmed Mir accused the BJP and PDP of entering into a pre-poll alliance in the state to "polarise the situation in the two regions". "The PDP and BJP had a pre-poll tactical understanding to polarise the situation in both the regions by exploiting the regional and religious sentiments of the people to secure their respective mandate," he said during a day-long convention of Congress workers of Gandhi Nagar Assembly constituency at Kunjawani today.

Ranveer-Arjun, The Roast Duo is Back Batman vs Superman's

leaked trailer is spectacular

Agency : New Delhi Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor are again paired for a roast but this time it will be way more different than the previous one. Ranveer and Arjun are going to host the IIFA awards

Agency : New Delhi You can call him 'X', Mr X moves! Well, the song explains it all. This Vikram Bhatt directed film is perhaps one of those films where Emraan Hashmi is seen running around, fighting against all odds to carry out the justice delayed. However, it's not as if he doesn't do what he is best at—kissing, it comes quite naturally to this actor, we must say! The plot opens with a typical situation where the team of police officers are in action, trying to protect a bus full of common people, and a bomber trying to kill himself lest you release a fellow ter-

rorist from jail. This time, we meet ATD (Anti-terror department) officer Emraan aka Raghu Ram Rathod and his better half Amyra Dastur as Siya Verma in a single frame, first shot. The two are shown to be very much in love, perhaps the only reason why Raghu would

tell her to diffuse the bomb as he knows she will be able to do so, 'kyuki tum mujhse pyaar karti ho'. The moment is tense and the bomb is about to explode—cut to this intense, romantic dialogue from the senior officer gives a jolt to your thinking brain.

Shah Rukh and AbRam spotted partying on a beach in Goa

Agency : Goa Shah Rukh Khan had recently taken some time off his busy schedule and headed to Goa with his fam-

ily for Sachin Joshi's Planet Hollywood resort launch. The actor is still in India's party capital and was spotted spending some time with

his family on a beach. The most adorable photo was of SRK playing in the sand with AbRam who was lost in his own world. King Khan also posed with Gauri and Sachin Joshi for the shutterbugs. SRK has been continuously shooting for Fan and just managed to take a short break recently. While in Goa, he also dropped in on the sets of Rohit Shetty's Dilwale. Varun Dhawan and Kritis Sanon have already started shooting for the movie and King Khan is expected to join them by June.

Maharana Pratap to see Aashka Goradia ina posistive role. Agency : Mumbai Although viewers have praised Aashka Goradia for her negative portrayal of Dheer Bai Bhatiyani in historical drama show “Bharat ka Veer Putra- Maharana Pratap”, the actress has now turned positive with it. Agency : New Delhi A day after director Zack Snyder shared 20-second footage from Batman vs Spiderman: Dawn of Justice, its full-length trailer has leaked. Despite Warner Bros best efforts to shut down YouTube videos, the trailer of this Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill-starrer is available on file-sharing sites and streaming platforms. The trailer was to be viewed by paying audience at select theatres on April 20. The leak was taped off of a movie screen and it seems the trailer was playing off a loop. The captions on it appear to be in Portuguese. The quality is not great as it has been filmed off a screen on what appears to be a phone. The trailer itself is spectacular. There is something rotten in the state of Gotham. After what happened in Man of

Steel, Superman has lost the trust of people. Alone and termed a 'False God', it seems the superhero is hated by the entire city. Holly Hunter and Lex Luthor, whose voiceovers we hear, are especially vo-

ciferous. "Devils don't come from hell beneath us," Luthor says. "They come from the sky." Batman, meanwhile, is ready to stand up to Superman, thereby explaining the Batman vs Superman title.

I believe in completing a story from start to finish and I have loved playing Bhatiyani - be it negative or positive. “With the recent turn of events in scripts, of course it’s a happy change to be back to playing a positive role. Agency : Mumbai Rakhi Sawant is one celebrity who isn’t afraid of speaking her mind. At a recent shoot the actress made it clear that she detests being compared to other actresses, particularly former adult star Sunny Leone. After wrapping up her music video shoot, Rakhi was answering a few questions by the media. When a journalist asked her if her music video would give Sunny Leone tough competition. To which she replied, "firstly, why are you talking about Sunny Leone. We are doing her a favour. We pay her to put on her clothes." “Please don't compare me

with Sunny Leone because I have achieved (my popularity) by dancing, performing, doing reality shows and also by winning hearts of the audiences. I never did any adult film or anything else to achieve this. I hope you all understand.” She even

stated that she would rather be compared to international celebrities like Madonna and Jennifer Lopez. “I am glamorous and very much upfront. I think you can compare me with Jennifer Lopez, Madonna,” she added.

Richa Chadda's film Masaan goes to Cannes Agency : New Delhi Richa Chadda had last attended Cannes along with her co-stars during the screening of Gangs of Wasseypur (GOW) and received a lot of accolades for the same. In fact, they even popularized the trend of 'ghamchas' (men scarf) when they walked the red carpet of the prestigious film festival way back in 2012. Now, it is surely a moment of nostalgia for the actress who will once again attend the Cannes Film Festival for her film Masaan. Masaan, produced by Phantom Productions (Anurag Kashyap along with Vikramaditya Motwane, Vikas Bahl and Madhu Mantena) is a tale that explores several emotions from love to sexuality. The film will be screened at the 'Un Certain Regard' section of the film festival. She is happy about the fact that many of her Gangs of Wasseypur team members will be accompanying her during the fest. While Anurag Kashyap, director of GOW is a producer of Masaan, the director of the film Neeraj Ghaywan and her co-star Vicky Kaushal were assistant directors for the previous film.

FM pitches for low taxes, taxpayers as ‘partners not hostages’

Agency : Washington Promising a ‘modern tax system’ with low and globally competitive rates, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has assured foreign investors against any retrospective action and said taxpayers will be seen as “partners and not as potential hostages or victims“. For domestic taxpayers also, the rates need to be low as taxes are seen as money being forcibly transferred from citizens to the state, but the tax net should be wide enough so that everyone feels being part of the government, he said. Jaitley said he is “acutely aware” that there are concerns about retrospective taxation, tax harassment and arbitrariness in tax administration, especially those relating to cases of transfer pricing — a term mainly used for deals between entities belonging to the same multinational group. “Let me emphasise

that we are absolutely committed to a transparent and predictable tax regime. There will be no retrospective actions and we will see taxpayers as partners not as potential hostages or victims,” Jaitley said in his address to Peterson Institute for International Economics here last night. Spelling out his vision of a modern tax system, Jaitley said: “Tax policy and administration should incentivise compliance. They should be administered fairly, transparently, with minimum discretion, with no harassment of taxpayers but also ensuring that tax evasion is dealt with firmly.” The Finance Minister said that India is on its way to have a much more modern taxation system with a series of administrative measures, along with legislative reforms and constitutional amendments initiated by the government.

Bloomberg glitch hits India, global markets; volumes dip Agency : New Delhi Trading activities in financial markets in India and many other countries took a hit on Friday after a major technical glitch blacked out the widely used Bloomberg trading terminals for up to four hours. In the UK, the Treasury had to cancel a bond auction that was scheduled to take place on a Bloomberg platform while traders and fund managers in India also said the volumes went down due to the outage. There were also reports about hacking attempt at Bloomberg's website, while messaging services of another major financial data and trading terminal provider too went down for a

brief period. The outages, which extended for at least two hours in India, slowed activities in the Indian market and affected overall trading volumes, according to traders. Trading volume declined Friday at the NSE and the BSE. At the NSE, equity volume dropped to 70.69 crore from 84.63 crore on Thursday. However, the decline at the BSE was less, with equity volume dipping to 29.37 crore from 30.51 crore on Thursday. A lot of daily market activities would have also been affected, traders said. Market participants who use these terminals said the outages were there for 2-4 hours in different parts of the world.

India frets trade gains could unravel as deficit widens Agency : New Delhi India's trade deficit in March was the highest in four months, at $11.79 billion, as exports continued to fall, underscoring risks for growth prospects in Asia's third largest economy.A plunge in global prices of crude oil, by nearly half since last June, has slashed India's import bill, making for a less worrisome trade deficit, despite a drop in exports in recent months. That could be about to change, with policymakers and businesses fretting that weak foreign demand could torpedo Prime Minister Narendra Modi's globe-trotting 'Make in India' campaign to boost export-oriented investment. Since winning power last May, Modi has visited major economies, including the

United States, Japan, France, Germany and Canada, and set a goal of doubling exports to $900 billion over the next four years. Annual figures published on Friday for the full fiscal year that ended in March showed merchandise exports declined 1.2 percent to $310.5 billion, while imports were down 0.6 percent, at $447.6 billion. That widened the annual trade deficit for Asia's third-largest economy to $137 billion in the 2014/15 fiscal year from $135.8 billion in the preceding year, with the fall in net exports likely to hurt gross domestic product. "Most of our factories are working for eight hours against 24 hours earlier as orders from Europe have dried up," said.

Ganguly as India coach sounds great but should Shastri be traded in for him? Agency : New Delhi It is hard not to get excited at the prospect of Sourav Ganguly becoming India’s cricket coach. He was India's most successful captain when he retired and in the eyes of many fans, taught us how to win away from home. It was under his leadership that India finally cracked the puzzle and given India's abysmal form away from home over the last three years, there is a hope he might do the same thing again. What set him apart from his peers was his obsessive will to win abroad. He wanted to shatter the 'Home Tigers' tag line that used to follow India

everywhere and to his credit, he pretty much managed to do that. The term legend is so casually tossed around in sports today -but Ganguly's achievements made him worthy of it. But is that reason enough to believe that he will make a good coach? Reason enough to believe that he will do a better job than Ravi Shastri, who is currently the Indian team’s director of cricket? A report in the Hindustan Times reveals the BCCI intends to make an offer to Ganguly and Shastri. If they both refuse, only then will the Board look for a foreign coach. Ganguly's biggest

Tambe, Kulkarni, Rahane: RR should thank Mumbai for their win over SRH contribution to the Indian dressing room -- if he does get the job -- will be on the mental side. But, as anyone who heard him during the World Cup will tell you, Shastri already has that area covered. He works himself into a frenzy of sorts and if you are low on confidence, it is the only soundtrack you need to hear. There is nothing that fazes him.

Agency : Visakhapatnam While Mumbai Indians are struggling to find their feet in IPL 8, it's the Mumbai players that are helping Rajasthan Royals climb the top of the tree. Against a confident Sunrisers Hyderabad side, it was the trio of Dhawal Kulkarni, Pravin Tambe and Ajinkya Rahane that stood out. Sunrisers had got off to a decent start and David Warner was looking ominous, having hit three fours off Chris Morris in the second over. Steven Smith brought on Kulkarni in the fourth over. Kulkarni beat Warner on the pull off the second ball as he got good away movement on the back of a length delivery. He bowled a slower one next

up and Warner was done in by the change of pace and missed his slash. The next one was again a slower one and Warner was cautious this time as he took a single to third man. Kulkarni had done well to keep Warner at bay from his first four balls. Off the next ball, an

impatient Dhawan charged down the track and hammered Kulkarni through covers for a four. It was a touch wide and Dhawan latched on to it. But Kulkarni hit back off the very next ball as he bowled a beautiful outswinger and had Dhawan caught behind.

IPL 2015: Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings

11-match losing streak. When the proven matchwinners have off days, it would be down to the likes of KL Rahul and Naman Ojha, and Manoj Tiwary and Kedar Jadhav to pick up the slack. Especially considering they are likely to walk out to a pitch more suited to batting after both Sunrisers and Royals expressed displeasure at its sluggish nature on Thursday. But the bowling attacks each

of them would face tomorrow are the reasons either team has been competitive. Trent Boult is never far away from giving headaches to the opposition. Nathan CoulterNile's bounce can be a challenge for domestic batsmen. Bhuvneshwar Kumar's yorkers have improved. And it is likely that Imran Tahir suffers withdrawal if he doesn't race around the ground after picking wickets.

IPL 8: Kolkata gets hit by culinary fervor; Foodies go on cricket overdrive Agency : New Delhi With the eighth edition of IPL in progress, cricket fever has gripped this sports-crazy city with restaurants offering lipsmacking dishes in freshly done-up interiors resembling playgrounds. From mocktails named after 'Gayle Storm', 'Rohit Rider' and 'Maxwell Mist' to dishes christened as 'Eden Platter', 'Royal Challenge' and 'Chennai Super Express rice', pizza and kebab spreads are being offered as the main course in one such speciality restaurant. "We have a lavish menu for the patrons who will be watching the proceedings on giant LED screen with replicas of bat, cricket gear and logos of team jerseys adorning the place," Nitish Saraf of Kuaizi N Kadai restaurant said. Saraf explains that since each IPL team projects the image of the city it is based in and accordingly recruits local players, his restaurant has sought to add local flavor

Spotlight on Sunrisers and Daredevils' domestic players Agency : Vizag If matches are won by breaking the weakest links in the opposition, both Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Daredevils have plenty of targets. They are heavily dependent on Plan A and much of that is down to local talent that hasn't translated into trustworthy resources. Besides their losses, consider both teams' victories so far: Sunrisers rode home with David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan at the wheel in Bangalore. Against Rajasthan Royals, they lost control of it, and their team lost the match as well. Against Kings XI Punjab, Daredevils managed to plumb the best out of Mayank Agarwal, but they still needed Yuvraj Singh at the other end and Angelo Mathews for the winning runs. The slate has been wiped clean, but a loss now would sour Daredevils' relief from breaking an

Agency : New Delhi Mumbai Indians take on Chennai Super Kings in the 12th match of the Indian Premier League at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Ishwar Pandey to bowl from the other end. A maiden first over from Ishwar. Terrific start this for CSK so far. Ashish Nehra to bowl first over for CSK, Parthiv Patel and Lendl Simmons to open or MI. Nehra bowled one on the leg-stump to Parthiv, who couldn't connect, the umpire immediately raised his finger. Parthiv is gone for a first-ball duck! Surprise move, Corey Anderson is the new man in for MI. Good swing from Nehra in that over, just 2 runs off it. The Rohit Sharma-led side are still searching for their first win after having lost three consecutive matches

against Kolkata, Punjab and Rajasthan respectively. In their previous match against the Royals, Kieron Pollard and Corey Anderson played two blistering knocks as a result of which they posted a formidable score of 164 runs on the board after being reduced for 45/3 at one stage. While the form of these big-hitting all-rounders is a huge sigh of relief for the Mumbai camp, one of the major areas of concern for them is the form of Lasith Malinga.

The Sri Lankan has been their key weapon over the years and we haven't seen him bowl those perfect yorkers on a consistent basis. Now that Aaron Finch has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury, Lendl Simmons – Mumbai's hero from last season has a chance of playing his first match this year. CSK on the other hand have not much to worry about as their team is full of world class cricketers from all across the world.

"If everything falls well in line and if I train well, then I am sure I can maintain it for a long time but it is not going to be easy I have to work very very hard. I have to keep in mind everyday I am world number one and have to work as world number one. I will try my best to win as many

titles for my country," she said. Asked who she perceives as a threat to her world number one status, Saina said Li Xuerui is the top contender because the Chinese has good chances to beat her for she has less

number of tournaments. Sometimes sportspersons speak emotionally. Next time I will leave it to them to decide. It's done one time, it's done, it's finished. You don't need to speak about it 100 times.

Cantonment's dispute with club reaches Gujarat HC

claimed Solanki. “There is nothing wrong with changing the old acts to suit current requirements. That is why even the Parliament amended the Constitution whenever required. Congress is trying to gain political advantage by spreading such negative propaganda against the new bill,” he said. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggested that we (BJP MPs) should reach out to people and spread awareness about the new provisions in the bill. Apart from meeting the stake-holders and farmers, some MPs are also distributing leaflets in their areas to clear doubts about the bill,” he said.

The disputes between the Cantonment authorities and the more than a century-old Ahmedabad Gymkhana, which is located in Cantonment area itself, has reached at Gujarat high court. The HC has sought reply from the administrative commander of the Cantonment regarding various difficulties posed to the Gymkhana following certain decisions taken by the Cantonment Board. The club was founded in 1885 for the British and was opened for the locals only after independence. This club is on a land leased out by the Ministry of Defence. The dispute between Gymkhana and the Cantonment authorities began in October last year, when the Cantonment Board issued a notice to the club to remove

a bore well from the land not in possession of the Gymkhana. It gave 40-day notice for make other arrangement for water source, while it removed its tanks from the Gymkhana's land in 30 days. In trouble over water shortage, the club decided to bring water tanker, but the security issues cropped up. To resolve this problem, the Gymkhana moved the HC. The litigation is pending for two more issues - police clearance for entry of guests in Gymkhana because the Cantonment authorities insist on police clearance three days before. Besides, the club renovated certain portion of the building, and the Cantonment authorities now insist on demolishing those construction because no prior permission was obtained for the same.
