The Muslim side has maintained that the object was part of the water fountain mechanism at the ‘wazookhana’ reservoir where devotees carry out ablutions before offering namaz. On May 25, district judge AK Vishvesh had ordered the transfer of the suit to the fast-track court. The Varanasi district magistrate, the police commissioner, the Anjuman Intezamia Committee, which manages the affairs of the Gyanvapi mosque, and the Vishwanath Temple Trust were made respondents in the suit. On April 26, a lower court in Varanasi, hearing a plea by a group of five women seeking permission for daily worship of idols of Hindu deities on the mosque’s outer walls, ordered a videographic survey of the Gyanvapi complex.

National anthem of Nepal played Shraddha murder: Union Minister during Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Kaushal Kishore blames ‘educated Jodo Yatra in Maharashtra girls’ for ‘live-in relationships’ Agency News : Washim Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra has made the headlines for a technical error from the rally held in Maharashtra this Wednesday. When the Congress leader asked his party workers to play the national song, “Rashtriya Geet,” the national anthem of Nepal was heard. Instead of India’s national song which is the Vande Mataram, “Sayaun Thunga Phool Ka” of Nepal was played in Maharashtra. However, later on repeated instructions from Rahul Gandhi, the technical team played the Jana Gana Mana, which still isn’t the national song that the politician had announced for. Also, the entire footage of the incident suggests that the national

Saudi removes requirement for Indian nationals to get Police Clearance Certificate to obtain Visa Agency News : Saudi Arabia Saudi Arabia announced on Thursday that Indian nationals will no longer be required to submit a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) to obtain a visa, a decision expected to benefit workers seeking employment in the West Asian country. The 2.2 millionstrong Indian community is the largest expatriate community in Saudi Arabia, and also one of the largest concentration of Indians in West Asia. While a lot of Indians returned to India during the Covid-19 pandemic, there has been an increase in the number of people going back to Saudi Arabia for employment. The Saudi Arabian

This decision has been taken as a part of the efforts of the two countries to further strengthen their relations,” it said.

Days after Delhi police arrested Aaftab Poonawala for the barbaric murder of his live-in partner, Union Minister Kaushal Kishore blamed ‘educated girls’ for ‘live-in relationships’ which lead to such crimes. Kishore said, “Girls leave parents and choose live-in relationships, what is the point of live-in relationships?” He also said that if parents are not ready for the alliance, the girls should get married in court first and then stay with their partner. “These incidents are happening with educated girls. These girls say that they are adults and such girls get stuck in such issues,” he added. Meanwhile, a Delhi

court on Thursday extended, by five more days, the police custody to Aftab Ameen Poonawalla, who has been arrested for allegedly murdering his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar and chopping her body into 35 pieces. dollar firms on hawkish Fed

Chip stocks took a beating on Thursday, sending most Asian share indexes lower, after grim signals from Micron Technology overnight about excess inventories and sluggish demand. Meanwhile, the US dollar rebounded after stronger-than-expected U.S. retail sales suggested the Federal Reserve was unlikely to ease up in its battle with inflation. That fuelled concerns about the economic outlook, with the US Treasury yield curve remaining deeply inverted in Tokyo trading and suggesting that investors are braced for recession. “Inflation is likely to remain elevated for some time ... because in the US, at least, it’s services that are driving inflation, and that can have greater persistency,” Salim Ramji, global head of ETFs and index investments at BlackRock, told the Reuters Global Markets Forum on Wednesday. “(In equities) minimum volatility strategies can help investors stay invested while reducing risk,” he said. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index tumbled 2.1%, with its tech stocks slipping more than 4%. Mainland Chinese shares also declined, with blue chips falling 1.1%. Japan’s Nikkei .N225 lost 0.3% and South Korea’s Kospi dropped 1.1%, each led by declines in heavyweight chip players. Overnight, the Philadelphia SE Semiconductor Index slumped 4.3% after Micron MU.O said it would reduce memory chip supply and make more cuts to its capital spending plan. The tech-heavy Nasdaq slumped 1.5% while the S&P 500 slid 0.8%. However, e-mini futures indicated some respite at the reopen, pointing 0.26$ higher for the Nasdaq and 0.18% higher for the S&P. For Europe, German DAX futures signaled a 0.08% rise at the start, but UK FTSE futures pointed down 0.25%. Investors are re-assessing the US monetary policy outlook after consumer spending figures contradicted the narrative of the past week or so from cooler consumer and producer price data. Rhetoric from Fed officials on Wednesday also remained hawkish. Fed Governor Christopher Waller said there was still a ways to go on rates, while San Francisco Fed President Mary Daly told CNBC that pausing rate hikes was not yet part of the discussion. ”Fed commentary, like the resilient spending numbers, gave little succour for anyone looking for an imminent pivot,” with caution permeating markets as a result, Ted Nugent, an economist at - Kapilkumar M. Agency News : Melbourne

England captain Jos Buttler said his team may struggle to fire up for the ODI series against Australia after only a few days’ rest after their T20 World Cup triumph. England, who beat Pakistan in the final in Melbourne on Sunday, meet Australia at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday in the first of three one-dayers, a series with nothing major at stake for either team. “It’s going to be a challenge,” white-ball skipper Buttler told reporters on Wednesday.“There’s no point saying all the right things, that we’ll be at our best.” England now hold both global limited-overs trophies, but their dominance does not guarantee enthusiasm for more cricket at the end of along tour of Australia. Sam Billings, who was not a part of the T20 World Cup

squad, was more welcoming. “We’re great mates with a lot of those Aussie guys, but when it comes onto the pitch, you want to beat them,” he said on Wednesday. Australia are fresher than England after missing out on the T20 World Cup semi-finals. Australia’s new ODI captain Pat Cummins said he expected England would still be up for the contest.“They’ll be strong no doubt, even if a bit tired,” he told.

Djokovic defeats Andrey Rublev to reach last four in Turin Agency News : Turin Novak Djokovic booked his place in the last four of the ATP Finals with a crushing 6-4, 6-1 defeat of Russian Andrey Rublev at the Turin showpiece on Wednesday. After his victory, Novak confirmed that he will take part in next year’s Australian Open after being granted a visa. “I was very happy to receive the news yesterday,” the 35-year-old Serb, who was sent home from Australia on the eve of last year’s event after a row about his Covid-19 vaccination status, said. After the first nine games went with serve, Djokovic switched on the afterburners to outclass Rublev.

A winter World Cup is a novelty in itself. Add to that the uniqueness of the venue — the first time West Asia will host the Cup. So will the Qatar World Cup throw up a surprise champion? And will this edition bring to fore yet another match that will go down in history as one of the biggest upsets? At No. 21 in the Fifa rankings, Serbia may not be a team that comes first to mind as a potential World Cup winner. But while qualifying for Qatar, they did top their group that included Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal. What is perhaps more important is that they remained unbeaten, winning six and drawing two of their eight matches. Their 2-1 away win against Portugal, in the final game of qualifying, was one of the thrillers of the qualifiers. Their biggest strength is their attack, led by Aleksandar Mitrovic and Dusan Vlahovic. Captain Dusan Tadic will also be

a force to reckon with. Andrija Zivkovic and Filip Kostic add speed on the flanks and can keep the opponent’s defence guessing about where the next threat can come from. But their defence can be a cause for concern. The Euro 2020 semi-finalists, 10th on the Fifa rankings, topped their group in the qualifiers with nine wins, one defeat. The Danes have progressed beyond the group stage in all but one of their five World Cup appearances to date. Their debut in 1986, when they lost 1-5 to Spain in the last-16 stage, won them fans all over the world. BOLLYWOOD-HOLLYWOOD Tusshar Kapoor says he gained weight ‘to look like a realistic Mumbai cop’ Tusshar Kapoor is all set to come back in a different avatar with his upcoming murder mystery, ‘Maarrich’. He is playing the role of a senior cop from Mumbai named Rajiv. It’s after 18 long years that Tusshar Kapoor is returning as a cop and in a different avatar on the silver screen. There is a lot of preparation he had to undergo to ensure he represents his character as close to a real life cop. The film is Tusshar Entertainment House’s second outing after Akshay Kumar-starrer, ‘Laxmii’. Tusshar transformed and groomed himself in various ways to ace his role as a senior cop in the murder mystery. He not only took various workshops, but he also put on weight and worked on modulating his voice. Speaking about his process of preparation for the film, he said, “I did a lot of preparation because I am playing a cop and a very different character compared to all the roles I’ve done earlier. I am playing a senior cop and he is a little overconfident, little brash, little too optimistic about himself and about the way he handles cases. At the same time, he is somebody who has an emotional core and he is also a family man, but he has his own sense of moralities and how he goes about this case is something that is very interesting in the film.” HE added, “I did some workshops to get into the skin of the character and I also gained, a couple of kilos to look like a realistic Mumbai cop rather than a fit six-packed cop. I wanted to look real, so I gained around 10 pounds. For the dubbing of the film I did a voice modulation course to be able to bring some gravitas, base and heaviness to my voice, because this character has some age as compared to the kind of roles I’ve done in comedy films before.” The film is helmed by Dhruv Lather and also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Rahul Dev, Anita Hassanandani and Dipannita Sharma in pivotal roles. ‘Maarrich’ will release theatrically on December 9, 2022.
