A 71-year-old man allegedly hired two contract killers to kill his 35-year-old wife in West Delhi’s Rajouri Garden. The killers stabbed the woman to death on Wednesday around 2.30 pm, police said. The woman’s body was found at her residence with multiple stab wounds. SK Gupta got married to the woman in November last year, a senior police officer said. He wanted her wife to take care of his son Amit (45), who is physically challenged and also has cerebral palsy, but she refused to do so. The man then decided to get separated from his wife but she demanded Rs 1 crore to divorce him,

according to the investigation. In order to get rid of his wife, Gupta along with Vipin, who used to take his son Amit to hospital, hatched a plan to kill her. He also promised to give Vipin Rs 10 lakh to murder her and had paid Rs 2.40 lakh as an advance. Vipin and his associate Himanshu went to Gupta’s house and allegedly stabbed the woman. They also ransacked the house and also stole the mobile phones of the woman and that of Amit to trick the police into believing that it was a case of robbery. Amit was at home when the murder took place, the officer said. Following the probe, four accused who have confessed their role in the crime - SK Gupta, his son Amit and the two contract killers - Vipin Sethi (45) and Himanshu (20) were arrested in connection with the incident. Police are yet to recover phones, blood-stained clothes and scooters used in crime.

The Surat police stated that the accused converted the money into USDT, a cryptocurrency, before making the transfer. The incident occurred on April 16 when the professor from Veer Narmad South Gujarat University ended her life by jumping in front of a train. Investigation revealed that a blackmailing gang had been threatening her with the circulation of morphed photos in order to extort money. Three members of the gang were arrested earlier this month in

Jamui and Patna districts of Bihar, while two men and a woman remain at large. The gang targeted victims from different parts of Gujarat, as well as Arunachal Pradesh and Maharashtra. The accused had about 70 UPI IDs on their mobile phones. The police custody of the accused has been extended until May 20. The opposition accused the filmmakers of promoting BJP propaganda in the film. On May 8, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee ordered an immediate ban on the screening of ‘The Kerala Story’ in the state to avoid “any incident of hatred and violence”. The movie, on the other hand, was declared taxfree in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh last week.
