PM Modi Speaks On Development In NE, Calls Border Areas ‘gateways Of Security, Prosperity’ Agency News: New Delhi Prime Minister Narendra Modi who inaugurated several development projects in Meghalaya’s Shillong on Sunday, highlighted development in NorthEast states and called the border areas in the region the “gateways of security and prosperity”. Addressing a public gathering in Shillong, PM Modi said, “Meghalaya is a state filled with nature and culture. Today, we got the opportunity to be a part of the development of Meghalaya... I congratulate all brothers and sisters of Meghalaya on the connectivity, education, skill development and employment schemes that are being dedicated to the state.” “It is a coincidence that when the football world cup final is happening, I am addressing football fans on a football ground. On one side world’s largest football tournament is happening and we are initiating

developmental works from a football ground... When football fever is gripping us all, why not talk in football terminology? When someone goes against the sportsman spirit, they’re shown a red card and sent out. Similarly, in the last 8 years, we’ve shown a red card to several hurdles in the development of northeast,” PM Modi added. He also said that the government is spending Rs 7 lakh crore on infrastructure development in northeast PM Modi

said that honest efforts are being made to send corruption, stalling of projects and vote bank politics out. “We are making honest efforts to send out corruption, bias, nepotism, violence, stalling of projects, and vote bank politics. ‘Objectionable’ content taught Why is BJP-led Centre allowing in some madrassas in MP will be imports from China when it is scrutinised: State Home Minister attacking India: Kejriwal Agency News: Bhopal

Agency News: New Delhi

Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra on Sunday said that alleged objectionable content being taught in some madrassas in the state will be scrutinised. The issue of objectionable content being taught in some madrassas has been brought to his attention, Mishra, who is state government spokesman, told while replying to a question. “I have just seen it (the alleged objectionable content) at a cursory glance...We will ask the district collector to get such study material of madrassas scrutinised from the education department to avoid such unpleasant situations,” Mishra said. However, he didn’t specify which madrassas he was talking about. Some sections have raised question marks over certain content being taught in madrassas at a few places in the state. In August this year, Madhya

AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal Sunday lashed out at the Narendra Modi government over the recent faceoff between Indian and Chinese troops in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh, asking it to show “some courage and respect” for the country’s soldiers. Addressing the party’s National Council meeting, Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal claimed that while Chinese aggression is increasing at the border, the BJPled Centre says “everything is alright”. Instead of “punishing” China, the Modi government is “rewarding” Beijing by allowing high volumes of imports from the country even though many Indian soldiers put their lives on the line while fighting Chinese troops, he charged. “This is a very important issue which is causing pain to every person in the country for the last few days.

Pradesh Culture Minister Usha Thakur had said illegally-run madrassas may be used for human trafficking and a probe must be carried out against such facilities. “The office-bearers of the children’s commission recently carried out surprise inspections of such illegally-run madrassas. They found that 3040 children were kept without a healthy environment. There was an insufficient arrangement for food. I fear it may be a case of human trafficking,” Thakur had alleged.

BJP doubts army line on Jammu and Kashmir killings Agency News: New Delhi BJP’s Jammu and Kashmir chief Ravinder Raina on Saturday likened the killing of two Dalit men in Rajouri to the fake gunfight involving the army in Shopian in 2020, raising doubts on the army’s claim that the duo were killed by militants. On Saturday, Raina visited Rajouri to take part in the last rites of the deceased and sent a stern message to the killers by saying that the “law was equal for all”, without blaming militants. The family of the victims and a local BJP leader on Saturday accused the army of trying to “cover up” the incident by blaming militants. Surinder Kumar and Kamal Kishore, who worked at a canteen inside an army camp in Rajouri’s Phaliana village, were shot dead in the early hours of Friday.

during Emergency in 1975: CJI pesticide cuts Agency News: New Delhi Chandrachud Agency News: New Delhi The “fearless sense of independence of courts” saved democracy during the Emergency in 1975, Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud has said here. CJI Chandrachud, who assumed the office of the Chief Justice of India in November, was felicitated by the Bombay High Court here on Saturday. At the ceremony, he spoke at length about several judges of the past and his experience while working with them. “It was judges like Rane who kept the torch of liberty burning which had become dim in those years of Emergency in 1975. It was the fearless sense of independence of our courts which saved Indian democracy in 1975,” the CJI said. He said Indian democracy stands firm because of the “fierce tradition of our own courts, of the judges of the bar who have come together and hoisted the flag, and the torch of freedom for which our court stands and has always stood”. Speaking about the Bombay High Court, the CJI said its strength

lies in its ability to write, formulate and lay down the law for the future. “It is for us to do everything we can to attract the best talents to the Bombay HC. There I believe judges have a vital role to play in providing mentorship to the bar,” he said. The CJI also acknowledged the increasing emphasis on technology in the functioning of courts. “The nature of judicial institutions has changed over the last few decades. There is increasing use of technology in our functioning. We couldn’t have functioned if it was not for technology in the times of the COVID pandemic,” he said. The CJI said the infrastructure put in during the pandemic shouldn’t be dismantled.”It’s important that we use technology even if we are not comfortable with technology,”.

India has opposed global targets to reduce subsidies and pesticides in agriculture for the sake of biodiversity, asserting that farming provides livelihood to millions in developing countries and that countries should be allowed to determine their national goals. The Union environment minister Bhupender Yadav, delivering India’s national statement at the UN Convention on Biological Diversity on Friday in Montreal, underscored the importance of subsidies and pesticides in agriculture in developing countries. The statement also iterated India’s expectations of more funds from rich countries to help the country protect its biodiversity. “Our agriculture… is the source of life, livelihoods and culture for hundreds of millions. Such essential support to vulnerable sections cannot be called subsidies and targeted for elimination, while they may be rationalised,” Yadav told the convention.

For the last few years, China has been carrying out incursions. Soldiers of our country firmly fight with them and even sacrifice their lives in the line of duty. Yet, for the past few years, we keep hearing about China entering our territory,” Kejriwal claimed. However, the Modi government says “everything is alright and keep rewarding China” by allowing an increase in imports of Chinese goods instead of retaliating, he alleged. The AAP national convener claimed that in 2020-21 India imported Chinese goods worth USD 65 billion. “Then China again showed a much bigger eye (to India) and the BJP government let the import of Chinese goods further increase to 95 billion dollars next year,” Kejriwal claimed. “Don’t you have any respect for our soldiers? Is there no value of their lives?.... Show some courage. China will come to know its worth if India stops imports,” he added.

Agency News: New Delhi The Lata Mangeshkar Chowk in the heart of Ayodhya has become a stop for many locals and tourists who use the roundabout to go to the site of the under-construction Ram Temple. Constructed by the Uttar Pradesh government to honour the legendary singer on her 93rd birth anniversary, the chowk was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually on September 28. “The roundabout reflects the grandeur of what Ayodhya is going to be developed into along with the Ram temple. It is also such a great tribute to Lata Mangeshkar ji. We all are truly delighted to see it,” Mahendra Rana, a tourist from Una in Madhya Pradesh, said. Located on the road leading to Faizabad, the chowk connects the Saryu Ghat (Naya Ghat) on one side and the Ram Path, which leads to the site of the underconstruction Ram temple, on the other. It is here that most visitors start their tour of the city and their journey to the temple. “I am from Ayodhya, we know this chowk as Naya Ghat chowk. I like how it

has now been developed into a landmark. We stop here and take pictures for social media posts,” 21-year-old college student Ajeet Pandey said as he clicked a photo of his friend near the 40-ft-long veena, weighing 14 tonnes, installed at the roundabout. Ram bhajans by Lata Mangeshkar play on speakers in a loop as tourists evade traffic to walk up to the chowk. Some stand on the outside boundary while others cross over inside to take pictures and selfies before leaving for their onward journey. Jhansi resident Abhishek Pal Singh along with his family members made a brief halt at the roundabout. “We have come to Ayodhya after four years. The chowk is a welcome change. The last time this place was choked with traffic. After taking some pictures here, we will visit the Ram temple and attend the aarti at the Saryu ghat in the evening,” he said.

NASA has launched the firstever global satellite mission that will observe nearly all water on Earth’s surface, measuring the height of water in the planet’s lakes, rivers, reservoirs, and the ocean. The Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) spacecraft atop a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket was launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California on Friday. “Warming seas, extreme weather, more severe wildfires -- these are only some of the consequences humanity is facing due to climate change,” said NASA Administrator Bill Nelson.”The

climate crisis requires an allhands-ondeck approach, and SWOT is the realisation of a longstanding international partnership that will ultimately better equip communities so that they can face these challenges,” Nelson added. The satellite was built by NASA and the French space agency Centre National d’Atudes Spatiales (CNES). The SWOT spacecraft also has contributions from the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) and the UK Space Agency. This information will provide insights into how the ocean influences climate change; how a warming world affects lakes, rivers, and reservoirs; and how communities can better prepare for disasters, such as floods, said the US space agency. SWOT will cover the entire Earth’s surface between 78 degrees south and 78 degrees north latitude at least once every 21 days, sending back about one terabyte of unprocessed data per day.

Pakistan can’t fight its real enemy Taliban so it’s turning to politically useful enemy India The body of the school’s office assistant had been doused in kerosene and set alight, still sitting on her chair, blood from her bullet-wounds pooling by her side. “There are so many children beneath the benches,” one gunman shouted, “go and get them.” Teenager Shahrukh Khan, shot in both knees, stuffed his school tie into his mouth so he would not scream. “The man with big boots kept on looking for students and pumping bullets into their bodies,” the schoolboy. Eight years ago on Friday, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan jihadists attacked the Army Public School in Peshawar, killing 149 people—132 of them children. The government rolled out a national plan to fight terrorism, centred around setting-up special military courts to prosecute jihadists. Aided by United States drones, Pakistan succeeded in eliminating top jihad commanders and reasserting its authority in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Following the collapse of a ceasefire negotiated by former InterServices Intelligence (ISI) chief Lieutenant-General Faiz Hameed, though, TTP terrorists have beheaded, ambushed police personnel, and staged public executions. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa residents have been demanding the government act—but Islamabad has chosen to instead turn its fire on an older enemy. Last week, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah blamed India for attempting to assassinate Lashkare-Taiba founder Hafiz Saeed. The dossier claims the Research and Analysis Wing is operating a “vast network of terrorists“ through long-incarcerated gangster Omprakash Shrivastava. Early this month, travelling along the Line of Control, Pakistan’s new army chief General Syed Asim Munir vowed to “not only defend every inch of our motherland but to take the fight back to the enemy.” Foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto has chipped in with invective against India’s prime minister Narendra Modi, calling him “the butcher of Gujarat”. Islamabad has been strangely silent, though, on the growing - Kapilkumar M. Hirpara threat to Pakistan from the TTP.

The Congress on Sunday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of “running away” from a debate in Parliament on the situation along the border with China and said he and not the defence minister must answer on this issue. The opposition party also alleged that the prime minister does not utter the word “China” and asked whether the government was “silent” due to its “close ties” with that country. The attack on the government came days after Indian Army personnel clashed with Chinese soldiers in the Tawang sector in Arunachal Pradesh. At a press conference in Dausa after the morning leg of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said then prime minister Rajiv Gandhi went to China in 1988 “when we were strong at the borders and after that visit bilateral ties became stronger”. But in April 2020 all this came to an end and a new chapter was opened, he alleged. “The prime minister

to Sack Jain

has given a clean chit to them (China) by saying ‘no one has come and no one is inside our territory’. Due to this clean chit, our bargaining position has gone down,” Ramesh claimed. He said there should be a debate in Parliament and the prime minister should answer on the issue and discuss it with the opposition. “Debate should take place in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and answers have to be given by the prime minister and not the defence minister or external affairs minister. Several former prime ministers have answered in Parliament. He is the first prime minister who runs away from debate and he does not utter the word China,” Ramesh said.

Describing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) as essential for the unity and integrity of the country, the BJP has said that the parties and leaders opposing it are against the ideals of Bhimrao Ambedkar. It is clearly evident from the attitude of the BJP that the Central government can take some big step in this regard in the coming days. It is also being said that the UCC is going to be a big issue in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In an exclusive conversation with, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) ideologue and BJP Rajya Sabha MP Rakesh Sinha said that the UCC was discussed in the Constituent Assembly at

the time of the making of the Constitution and the framers of the Constitution itself added it to the Directive Principles of State Policy. Sinha dared Opposition parties to name any such country, among the liberal democracies of Europe, where the UCC law is not applicable. The BJP MP said that for the unity and integrity of the country, and for the dignity and rights of women, UCC is essential and “it is already too late”. The implementation of UCC in the country has been the core agenda of Jansangh and BJP since the beginning. The BJP has been promising to implement it even in its election manifesto. Agency News: New Delhi

Private schools in the national capital will no longer be able to deny admission to children under the Economically Weaker Section category as per their will after a Delhi High Court order. The High Court on Friday ruled that private schools will no longer be able to deny admissions to children under the EWS category selected through the draw of lots by the Directorate of Education, Delhi government officials said. This order by the High Court will provide relief to thousands of poor families, as private schools will not be able to deny admission to their children, the officials said. Over the last few

years, the Directorate of Education received several complaints about private schools refusing to give admission to the children allotted to them, they said. Private schools were arguing that they are not giving admission to EWS category children due to nonfulfillment of admissions in general seats, they added. In this case, it was observed that many private schools were giving admission to one student of EWS category only after getting admission in three seats under the general category, due to which many children selected in the draw were eventually denied admission, the officials said.

There should be a common policy for nationwide social security for which the finances should be managed by both the Centre and the states,” Gehlot said. Congress is celebrating its rein as Rajasthan is set to go to polls for its 200-member state legislative assembly in 2023.

We have carried out a vaccination exercise

and distributed vitamin A tablets as treatment and preventive measures,” Patel told. He said that additional surveillance was carried out after some suspected cases emerged during the routine surveillance. “We carried out an active search in the areas where five suspected cases were detected. Vaccination helps prevent the cases. In this region, however, resistance to vaccines is high. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, vaccination against measles slowed down further,” he said. In the affected village, the rate of vaccination remains as low as 6070 per cent. The authorities are trying to create awareness among locals regarding the benefit of vaccination, Patel said.

When Didier Deschamps, takes charge of France in the December 18 World Cup 2022 final against Argentina, the veteran will be hoping the strategies and tactics that he has carefully plotted will lead the team to a victory making them the first team since Brazil in 1962 to successfully defend their title. He has played for his country’s team in over 100 matches and has experienced a World Cup triumph, leading France to victory in the 1998 tournament. At club level, he won two French firstdivision league championships, three Serie A championships, and two UEFA Champions League championships. Nevertheless, despite all of these accolades,

not everyone admired him; Eric Cantona famously referred to him as a “water carrier” because of the defensive midfielder’s position’s perceived ease of play. “You can find players like him on every street corner,” Cantona said in a scathing attack on Deschamps’ play style as quoted by the Olympics website. Nevertheless, he remains one of the greatest players of all time due to his performance in the domestic leagues and as France’s captain. Deschamps has developed teams as the manager of France that mixes his defensive prowess from his playing days with the offensive flair of players like Antoine Griezmann, Ousmane Dembele, and Kylian Mbappe, who have all excelled at this World Cup.

Exporters seek support measures in Budget to boost shipments Agency News : New Delhi Exporters have sought support measures like waiver of electricity duty and easier availability of credit in the forthcoming Union Budget to boost the country’s outbound shipments. According to exporters, the finance ministry needs to provide reasonable funds to the Department of Commerce not only for the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) scheme reimbursement but also for export promotion and other initiatives. Under the RoDTEP, various central and state duties, taxes and levies imposed on input products, among others, are refunded. They have also suggested certain tweaks in customs duties and availability of credit at affordable rates to boost exports and create jobs. Mumbai-based exporter and

chairman of The Bombay Textile Research Association S K Saraf said exports are key drivers to promote the country’s economic growth and the Budget should address issues being faced by the sector. “The Budget should provide a mechanism for waiver of electricity duty for the units that are exporting more than 50 per cent of their production. Manufacturer exporters who are exporting more than 50 per cent of their production should be granted a script equivalent to 2 per cent of their exports to compensate for these handicaps that exporters suffer. This compensation cannot be seen as an incentive,” Saraf said.
