Prashant Kishor, A Ray Of Light At The End Of Tunnel For The Opposition Things are heating up in Indian politics as the BJP and the Sangh Parivar prepare for thenext phase of assembly elections in the states within this yearend as also in 2023, and, eventually, tobe followed by the Lok Sabha polls in March-April 2024. After the last round ofassembly elections resulting in BJP&s retaining power in four states, apprehensions werethere that the Modi juggernaut had become invincible. However, the loss of the BJP in all thebypolls announced on April 16 indicates that still there is some hope for the opposition, provided there is proper strategy and the killer instinct of the leadership to take on the BJPled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.Reports abound that the Shiv Sena will be shortly convening a meeting of the non-BJP chiefministers in Mumbai to discuss the issues concerning the use of the central agencies againstthe opposition leaders. This meeting will naturally go into the issue of broadbasing the unityof the non-BJP parties to fight the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections two years later. The timeis short and the opposition parties will have to tread carefully, so that there is maximumpossible areas of understanding among the parties who are honest in fighting the BJP modelof Hindu Rashtra undermining the very basics of Indian constitution. It is good that the Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has taken the initiative inresponse to the letter sent by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to the oppositionleaders. Uddhav has been emerging as a mature leader of the anti-BJP alliance and it will bea productive exercise as the Shiv Sena supremo is respected now by both Mamata andSonia Gandhi. Uddhav can invite all the opposition CMs including those belonging to theCongress. NCP supremo Sharad Pawar is there to guide the upcoming conclave so that thealliance consists of the Congress as well as the other non-Congress, non-BJP parties.Right now, the issue is how prepared is the Congress, the main national party challengingthe BJP in the elections, and to what extent will it be in a position to rejuvenate itself to takeon effectively the electoral challenge to the BJP in the states where it is the main partyagainst the saffrons. The poll strategist Prashant Kishor is busy undertaking detailed talkswith the Congress leaders led by Sonia Gandhi on a joint strategy to ensure the BJP’s defeatin the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. PK's strategy has not got green signal yet, but if it happens, that will be positive for the Congress Party. There are some important elements in PK concept which minimise the areas of differencesbetween the Congress and the regional parties and underline the importance for theCongress to focus on the seats where it is the number one or number two party of theopposition against the BJP. PK's note advises the Congress leadership not to spread theresources of the GOP to the areas where there are little chance of success. The party isalready cash-starved and it has to use its financial resources judiciously so that optimumresults are obtained. Let us take a look at the Congress’s present strength of the Lok Sabha. Out of its 53members, 28 are from South India. There are 15 from Kerala, eight from Tamil Nadu, threefrom Telangana and one each from Karnataka and Puducherry. In Punjab, Congress has goteight members from Punjab, three from Assam and two each from Chhattisgarh and WestBengal. In several states, the Congress has just one member. These include Uttar Pradesh, Bihar,Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal, Goa and Meghalaya. This grimposition has to be change drastically in favour of Congress if the party has to cross 100seats in2024 polls. PK has to perform this job which is only possible by adopting aninnovative strategy which will facilitate the polling of maximum number of anti-BJP votes infavour of the Congress Party. This requires drastic reorganisation of the party units atgrassroots level, massive collection of resources and ensuring the minimum division of non-BJP votes on the polling day. This is a Herculean task but it is possible with the rightstrategy. The Congress leadership may take into account some key factors. The Congress will lose inKerala, Punjab and West Bengal in the coming Lok Sabha polls. In Kerala, it can lose even 7to 8 seats out of the present15 and in Punjab, it will a fewseats as AAP spell will continue tillthe Lok Sabha elections. - Kapilkumar M. Rohit asked ‘Are you disappointed?’ I said ‘Can’t you tell that from my face?’

Agency News: New Delhi

India’s 31-year-old batter has revealed the conversation he had with Rohit Sharma after missing India’s tour of Australia in 2020. Agency News: New Delhi Since Rohit Sharma took over as captain of the Indian team, he has performed the duties of a captain with grit and determination. Succeeding a great like Virat Kohli was never going to be a walk in the park and very easily, Rohit could have been compared with his predecessor. But the veteran Indian batter took

up the responsibility with confidence and the result is out there for everyone to see. From November last year, when Rohit took over as India’s permanent captain (in white-ball cricket), the team hasn’t lost a single match under him, having routed New Zealand, West Indies and Sri Lanka along the way. Rohit managed to smoothly ease into the role of India captain, and of course, a lot of it had to do with

the fact that he is IPL’s most successful skipper having led Mumbai Indians to a record five titles. It was during his eightyear-long tenure as MI captain that Rohit developed a sharp captaincy acumen, which he has successfully taken forward with the Indian team. Even at MI,

In his first season after quitting as Royal Challengers Bangalore captain, Kohli is averaging 19 and the worse part is that there is a pattern in the way he is getting out. Hard back of a

length deliveries from quality seamers have brought about Kohli’s downfall a number of times in this IPL. Tuesday was no different when Kohli was out for a golden duck for the first in IPL in five years after failing to control a rising Dushmantha Chameera delivery against Lucknow Super Giants. said the prolific right-hander is “overcooked” and “needs a break.” Shastri, who has worked with Kohli as the head coach of Indian team for close to five years, said there might be a risk of losing 6-7 years of Kohli’s prime if he doesn’t take a break.

Mohamed Salah scored twice as Liverpool thumped old rivals Manchester United 4-0 at Anfield on Tuesday to move top of the Premier League, for 24 hours at least. After a 5-0 win at Old Trafford in October, this was another humiliation of United by Juergen Klopp’s team, who were barely threatened by their lifeless opponents. Liverpool moved to 76 points from 32 games with title rivals Manchester City on 74 points from one game fewer, with Pep Guardiola’s side hosting Brighton and Hove Albion at the Etihad on Wednesday.

Netflix suffered its first subscriber loss in more than a decade, causing its shares to plunge 25% in extended trading amid concerns that the pioneering streaming service may have already seen its best days. The company’s customer base fell by 200,000 subscribers during the January-March period, according to its quarterly earnings report released Tuesday. It’s the first time that Netflix’s subscribers have fallen since the streaming service became available throughout most of the world outside of China six years ago. The drop this year stemmed in

part from Netflix’s decision to withdraw from Russia to protest the war against Ukraine, resulting in a loss of 700,00 subscribers. Netflix acknowledged its problems are deep rooted by projecting a loss of another 2 million subscribers during the April-June period. If the stock drop extends into Wednesday’s regular trading session, Netflix shares will have lost more than half of their value so far this year — wiping out about $150 billion in shareholder wealth in less than four months. Netflix is hoping to reverse the tide by taking steps it has previously resisted, including blocking the sharing of accounts and introducing a lower-priced.

Elon Musk’s latest amid Twitter buy-out bid Agency News: New Delhi Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk, who recently offered to buy Twitter for $43 billion, posted another cryptic tweet Wednesday. Without naming Twitter, Musk declared a social media platform’s policies today were judged by how ‘unhappy’ it made both far-right and far-left users. The world’s richest person has been in the headlines - more so than usual - in his bid to acquire the popular microblogging site and ‘transform its potential for free speech’.“A social media platform’s policies are good if the most extreme 10 per cent on the left and the right are equally

unhappy,” Musk tweeted. Hours later he posted another cryptic tweet – a series of dashes to fill a missing word followed by “is the Night”. The tweet prompted a flood of speculation as Twitter users tried to fill in the blanks and wondered if the message was connected to the potential Twitter sale. Musk is known for his tweets that often go viral and is no stranger to the land of controversies. Earlier this month, the SpaceX chief became a Twitter board member with a 9.2 per cent stake. In the days after, he made several tweets regarding Twitter and the changes he wanted to see on the social media platform.
