Narasimha said that it is not casting any aspersion on the civil judge (senior division) who was earlier dealing with the suit. The SC said once the commission report on the Gyanvapi mosque case is out, there cannot be selective leaks. “Once the commission report is there, there cannot be selective leaks. Singh said the only difference between the two is

that one works for “the society, the welfare of the country… human beings”, while the other “carries out 9/11 attacks”. The minister said the disparity in their actions despite both parties being “highly educated” is their values. Talking about the 9/11 attacks, Singh further mentioned instances where young people, who took “complex pilot training” in the US crashed planes into the World Trade Centre. “Even after being a trained pilot in America, and doing a lot of reading and writing, one can become Khalid Sheikh or Mohammed Atta (terrorists responsible for the 9/11 attacks),” the minister added. Gyanvapi Mosque Dispute Seems Poised To Be A Babri Masjid Redux After three decades of relative calm post the Babri Masjid demolition, events in the GyanvapiMosque dispute have taken a swift turn. The latest development is the apparent‘manifestation’ of a ‘shivling’ during a court-mandated survey, following which the localVaranasi court has ordered for that portion of the mosque to be sealed. The Supreme Court has removed the restrictions on offering Namaz imposed by VaranasiCivil Court, while protecting the spot where the plaintiff claimed a “shivlinga” was found.Three years before, in the Babri Masjid case, the Supreme Court had delivered anambiguous judgment, trying to balance competing claims of faith, history and law. While itacknowledged that Muslims were wrongfully deprived of their 450-year-old mosque, andcondemned its destruction as a ‘serious violation of law’, it concluded that Hindus have a‘better’ possessory claim of the title of the land. Among other arguments, SC took intoaccount the faith of Hindus in the birth place of Lord Rama and need to ensure ‘peace andtranquillity”. Even though the SC judgment in the Babri Masjid dispute left many Muslims disappointed, there was little overt protest. One reason was that SC treated Babri Masjid dispute as aspecial case, while making it absolutely clear that the Indian state protects all existingMuslim places of worship. It categorically rebuffed the notion that a court of law in a seculardemocracy could be instrument for correcting perceived “historical wrongs” against Hindutemples. Further, it reaffirmed the validity of the Places of Worship Act, 1991, that prohibitsthe religious character of a place of worship to be changed. The only exhibition contained inthis was the Babri Masjid. Thus, case against tinkering with the Gyanvapi Mosque is clear. But, of course, theGyanvapi dispute, like Babri Masjid dispute, is essentially not about law, nor even history, but about the need of contemporary politics. The motor fuel of Hindutva is imagined grievance. As BJP has taken office in most of theHindi belt, the wellspring of present day Hindu grievances has been substantially drained. The charge of Muslim appeasement does not carry the same resonance as the politicalpower of Muslims. It has declined precipitously. Laws on subjects such as cow slaughter and‘love jehad’ have ensured that sentiments of Hindus are already seen to command politicalprimacy. In this respect, BJP is even more dependent on history to provide an extensive to provideand inexhaustible reservoir of Hindu grievances. The mosque in Varanasi and Mathura, among other places, are sought to be presented as disputed areas. BJP’S constrains as a governing party also explains its hesitancy to raise the political stakesby repealing the places of Worship Act. After all the BJP had opposed the passing of the Actand hasn’t given up its ideological claims on correcting ‘historical wrongs’. Nothing preventsParliament from repealing the Act, except, perhaps, BJP’s own interested, dread at the hardto manage consequences of opening the Pandora’s Box. Thus, RSS and BJP are content to lie in the shadows, encouraging Hindutva proxies togradually soldier on with the next frontier of historical claims — Varanasi, Mathura andbeyond. Petitioners in the current iteration of the Gyanvapi dispute are linked to the VishwaVedic Sanatan Sangh. The ultimate goal of this organization, according to its PresidentJitender Vishen, is establishment of ‘Hindu Rashtra’, much like the goal of RSS. But theseHindutava surrogates, coughed as devotees, help the political establishment to maintain aplausible distance.Yet some official support for Hindu petitioners was amply clear from the UP deputy CM K PMaurya’s exulting tweets in the wake of ‘discovery’ of the shivling. One may recall thatMaurya had also raked up the issue of Varanasi and Mathura temples during the UP electioncampaign. It is a fraught task, even in western countries, to disentangle politics from faith and history. But it is the mark of advanced nations that justice is not beholden to majoritarian sentimentsor historic grievances. As the Supreme Court expressly noted in the Babri Masjid judgment:“For any person who seeks solace or recourse - Kapilkumar M. Hirpara against action of any number.

Gujarat Pulse : A party for the Patels: Which way will Hardik, Naresh go?

The objective of the ‘Har Ghar Dastak2.0’ abhiyan is to vaccinate and saturate the eligible population groups for first. Agency News:New Delhi Underlining the urgent need for an intensive ‘mission mode’ push to COVID-19 vaccination across the country to accelerate the recent placid momentum, the Centre on Friday advised all states to plan for a two-monthlong ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ campaign

The election arena in Gujarat has just revved up, mainly on account of two Patidars – Hardik Patel and Naresh Patel – with bets being placed on their next course of action. On May 18, Hardik, the leader who rose from the Patidar quota agitation, resigned from the Congress after three years, praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP. A day later, top Gujarat Congress leaders met Naresh Patel, industrialist and chairman of the Shree Khodaldham Trust (SKT). The BJP, which has been welcoming almost every rank of Congress defectors,

from municipal corporators to MLAs, has, surprisingly, been quiet about Hardik though he ticks all the boxes for the party — he is young, is a Patidar, aggressive, was close to the Gandhis, has reiterated that he is a “devout Hindu” and spoken out in favour of the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya, the abrogation of Article 370 and the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). What stands between Hardik and the BJP are the criminal cases against Patidars protesters, stemming from the 2015 agitation, which are yet to be withdrawn, two of them against Hardik under the sedition law. Of the total 246 cases, the BJP government .

A court in Bihar’s Bhojpur district has disposed of a civil dispute, over a piece of land measuring three acres, 108 years after it was filed. It has been a while since Additional District and Sessions Judge Shweta Singh decided the case in favour of Atul Singh, ending the legal battle which began with his great-grandfather Darbari Singh in 1914.“The judge deserves kudos for her perseverance. Documents pertaining to the case had been eaten up by moths. But she took the trouble to sift through these and, finally, the judgement came on March 11,” Satendra Singh, the counsel for the prosecution, told reporters. He said Darbari Singh had purchased the land from family members of one

Nathuni Khan.Mr Khan had died in 1911 leaving behind dependents who squabbled among themselves over rights to his property. The land was part of a nine-acre estate which fell into a legal wrangle and was attached by the British colonial government.“The judge has finally said that my client, Atul Singh, can move before the sub divisional magistrate concerned for getting his land released,” said the lawyer.“It has been a peculiarly mind-boggling matter. None of the family members of Nathuni Khan are here. All of them had migrated to Pakistan after Partition. My clients have fought the case for four generations,” said the advocate.“I take some satisfaction that I have witnessed the case being decided.
