And the issue is now in court, and the court is conducting its hearings on the matter. Whatever it decides should be followed by all,” Agency News: New Delhi Mayawati has not lost her relevance and the BSP will get votes in Uttar Pradesh, senior BJP leader Amit Shah said in an interview to News18 channel. As campaigning for the fourth phase of elections came to a close in the state, the Union Home Minister said the Jatav vote remained with the BSP and that Muslims too would vote for the BSP in a number of seats. But it’s not true that Mayawati’s relevance is over.” The Samajwadi Party, which is seen as the BJP’s main competitor for power in UP, is counting on retaining its Muslim vote and weaning away traditional voters of other parties. Asked about Mayawati keeping a low profile, Shah said it did not mean her support base had entirely eroded. With the BJP accused of using polarisation to win votes, he denied that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s statement calling the UP election an 80 vs 20 battle suggested a contest between Hindus and Muslims in the

The Drugs Controller General of India has granted restricted emergency use authorisation (EUA) to Biological E’s COVID-19 vaccine Corbevax for the 12 to 18 years age group, subject to certain conditions, official sources said on Monday. However, the government has not taken a decision yet on vaccinating those aged below 15 years. The health ministry recently had said additional need for vaccination and inclusion of population for vaccination is examined constantly. The DCGI’s approval comes after the Subject Expert Committee on COVID-19 of the CDSCO on February 14 recommended granting restricted EUA to Corbevax for the 12 to 18 years

age group after deliberating on Biological E’s application. The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) had approved Corbevax, which is India’s first indigenously developed RBD protein sub-unit vaccine against COVID-19, for restricted use in emergency situations in adults on December 28. It has not been included in the country’s vaccination drive.“The DCGI on Monday granted restricted EUA to Corbevax for the 12 to less than 18 years age group subject to certain conditions,” an official source said.In an application sent to the DCGI on February 9, Srinivas Kosaraju, the head of quality and regulatory affairs at Biological E Limited, had said the firm had received approval for conducting phase 2/3 clinical study of Corbevax among

children and adolescents aged 5-18 years in September. Based on the no-objection certificate, Biological E has initiated the clinical study in October 2021 and has evaluated the available safety and immunogenicity results of the ongoing phase 2/3 study, which indicated that the vaccine is safe and immunogenic.”“The proposed application is for obtaining permission for restricted use in an emergency situation in adolescents aged 12 to less than 18 years based on interim results (of the ongoing phase 2/3 clinical study) considering the current

pandemic and widespread of COVID-19 vaccine in India,” Kosaraju had said in the application. The Corbevax vaccine is administered through the intramuscular route with two doses scheduled 28 days apart and is stored at two to eight degrees Celsius temperatures and presented as 0.5 ml (single dose) and 5 ml (10 doses) vial pack.According to the health ministry, the company has conducted phase 1/2 and 2/3 clinical trials of its COVID-19 vaccine in the country.Further, it has conducted a phase 3 active comparator.

Lalu Yadav Gets 5 Years In Jail In Fodder Scam Case, Fined ₹ 60 Lakh Central government was forced to give reservation due to the protest. The young firebrand Congress leader said that he is demanding withdrawal of cases because the Patidar youths have been facing problems in attending court hearings.“They can neither apply for jobs nor can they go abroad due to the cases,” said Hardik Patel. Hardik Patel, who is also facing sedition charges among many other charges, said that he was not warning of an agitation to get cases.

The case involves the illegal withdrawal of ₹ 139.5 crore from the Doranda treasury, as part of the fodder scam that took place in the 1990s, when Lalu Yadav was Chief Minister of Bihar.

Agency News: Patna A special court of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Ranchi on Monday sentenced Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Prasad Yadav to five years’ imprisonment and imposed ₹60 lakh fine on him in the ₹139-crore fodder scam

case. The RJD supremo was convicted in the case on February 15 and quantum of punishment was scheduled to be given out today. Yadav has been found guilty of illegal withdrawals to the tune of ₹139.35 crore from the Doranda treasury by the CBI court. The ailing 73-yearold veteran politician, who was shifted to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi, from Hotwar jail following the conviction last week, was

earlier sentenced to 14 years in jail in four other cases related to Dumka, Deoghar and Chaibasa treasuries in Jharkhand. Yadav’s lawyer had said the senior leader would attend Monday’s hearing via videoconferencing. He was present at the court last Tuesday when the verdict was given. A total of 170 people had

been named as accused in the Doranda treasury scam case. Of these, 55 have died, seven have become government witnesses, six are absconding and two accepted the charges against them. Among the remaining 99 accused, including Yadav, the CBI court had given its verdict last week.

Congress Flip Flops In Election Campaign May Damage The Party Rospects A columnist has aptly summed up the poll scene in Punjab and how the ruling congressparty committed gaffe after gaffe. “The Congress’s campaign in Punjab is a lesson how notto win elections”, he wrote. Chief Minister Charanjit Channi, appears to be a general withoutfoot soldiers, his peers putting spokes rather than lending shoulders to the party’selectioneering.A majority of the Congress’s 11 Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs from the state hadopposed Navjot Sidhu’s elevation as the party unit’s President. Most of them are nowconfined to their constituencies and did not show any interest in selection of the party’s pollcandidate. It was known that the then Chief Minister, Capt. Amarinder Singh, was not ongood terms with Sidhu. As a matter of policy, the PCC chief is appointed in consultation withCM so that government and organization function in co-ordination. From day one of hisappointment, Sidhu started working against CM in a bid to replace him.The worst happened when the central leadership began humiliating Amarinder Singh andultimately removed him, virtually forcing him to quit the Congress even as CongressPresident, Sonia Gandhi told Capt. to continue. It is well known that Amarinder Singh hasdeep roots in Punjab; this was evident when he defeated Arun Jaitley in Lok Sabhaelections. Under Amarinder’s leadership the Congress might have retained Punjab. The Aam Admi Party and SAD, in the meanwhile, are going ahead with full speed. ArvindKejriwal is frequent Flyer to Punjab where his local mascot Bhagwant Singh Mann has beenvigorously campaigning.Known for bipolar fights between the Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal, Punjab appears apsephologist’s nightmare. On the face of it, the question isn’t as to who would form thegovernment, or get a majority. The rush apparently is for single-largest party status. As the vote date (on February 20) nears, this real time poll bulleting could change. Aprognosis that wouldn’t perhaps alter is about defeats and victories with small margins. That’s essentially because the voter is spoiled across the Doab (23), Majha (25) and Malwa(69) regions that together account for the 117-member assembly. Besides, the Congress,SAD- BSP and AAP, there’s the BJP-Punjab Lok Congress and a farmers’ formation in thearena. In 2017, the Congress, then led by Amarinder Singh, had romped home with flying colours inall three regions, especially Malwa, where it won all except two of 25 seats. The SAD andBJP got one seat each; Majitha (Amritsar) and Sujanpur (Pathankot). The honours thenshared by Navjit Singh Sidhu, who campaigned in concert with the Captain, winning forhimself the Amritsar (East) constituency. The Captain now is a BJP ally and Sidhu a pale version of his charismatic self. The latter’spresence in the ongoing campaign is going to be restricted, given the tough challenge hefaces from the SDA’s Bikram Majithia, who has shifted his base from his Majitha pocketborough to fight from Amritsar. The former cricketer continues to draw crowds; rendered doubtful by his excitable ways ishis excitable ways in his ability to make the electorate stay and sway. His impetuouspersonal conduct belying the wisdom he spews, there are serious questions about hisleadership acumen, making the lesser orator, Charnjit Singh Channi, shine in contrast. The Congress’s understated chief ministerial face might have upstaged Sidhu in their intra-party tussle for prominence. But he has his task cut out as the party’s sole pan-Punjabcanvasser. The incumbent party’s eclectic 2017 appeal isn’t in evidence in Majha and haswaned considerably in Doab where the expected Dalit polarization appears truncated byBSP’s SAD-aided countervailing thrust. What makes the climb steeper for Channi in Malwa is the grant of furlough to the imprisonedDera Sachcha Sauda Chief, Gurmeet Ram Rahim, whose band of obedient supporters couldalter the outcome in close fight across the electorally crucial region stretching from Patiala toFazilka and Ferozepur. Its common talk in the countryside that Dera, probed for sacrilege cases (which damagedthe SAD in the previous elections) would work against the Congress and help the BJP,whose government in Haryana has set its chief free for 21 days ahead of Punjab elections. Much in the manner of the farmers’ alliance (the Sanyukt Samaj Morcha), the Dera might cutinto the potential APP support base of marginal farmers and other social group. But thestrength of Arvind Kejriwal’s party - Kapilkumar M. Hirpara is its eik mouqa (one chance) .

Hrithik Roshan’s rumoured girlfriend Saba Azad spends time with his family and kids In a picture shared by Hrithik’s uncle Rajesh Roshan, Saba can be seen chilling with the lot.

Gauahar Khan made an unconventional big screen debut in the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Rocket Singh: Salesman of The Year in 2009. Since then, the actress has managed to carve a huge fan base and even won Bigg Boss 7. Now she is ruling the OTT space with web series like Tandav and now Bestseller. With Tandav and now Bestseller, your choices have become strategically important? I feel all of my choices as an actor have been quite wise. When I started out with Rocket Singh: Salesman of The Year, it was a very bold decision in itself not to be opposite Ranbir but to portray a girl who stood out in the entire script. I think I was trained well with my very first film. I give a lot of credit to Jaideep Sahni (the film’s writer) in my life, who gave me the right advice during my first film. I have always followed instincts in me as an actor. Of late, the only shift that has happened is my roles have become more meatier and have a lot of weightage. OTT has become the next big thing. Your thoughts?Earlier, filmmakers used to cater to big screen audiences. But now with the kind of content OTT has produced has actually changed the face of women. They are getting more substantial roles; rather, they are the show carriers. Not only female actors, but it has also opened avenues for others. The quality has also increased at many levels. I am fortunate enough to get much more coverage on OTT. Gauahar Khan made an unconventional big screen debut in the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Rocket Singh: Salesman of The Year in 2009.
