Uttar Pradesh Man, Refusing To Alter Statement In Rape Case, Killed: Cops A 55-year-old man was allegedly killed for refusing to change his statement against the accused in his granddaughter’s rape case, police said on Friday. The incident took place on Thursday in an area under Uttar Pradesh’s Mirganj police station, they said. The man, who was a farmer, along with his two sons had gone out to buy medicines when four family members of the rape accused, Surajpal, stopped them, they said. Despite a few stray incidents, the bypolls for the four assembly seats in the northeasternstate of Tripura have seen a voter turnout of more than 78%. The four seats where bypollswere held are — Agartala, Town Bardowali, Jubarajnagar and Surma (SC). The assembly elections in the northeastern state of Tripura are only eight months away. Andjust a month ago, the ruling BJP had to change its chief minister Biplab Deb and appointstate party president ManikSaha to the post. The new chief minister, who isn’t a member ofthe state assembly, himself was one of the candidates in these bypolls from the TownBardowali constituency. All these circumstances made these bypolls crucial — as they areexpected to give indications about the upcoming 2023 fight. The results would be declaredon June 26.The BJP’s campaign was led by ManikSaha himself. The former Chief Minister Biplab Debtoo joined the campaign. Apart from them, Assam chief minister and BJP’s strongman in thenortheast Himanta Biswa Sharma too campaigned for the saffron candidates. BJP’s Tripura-in-charge Vinod Sonkar, an MP of the Kausambhi constituency of Uttar Pradesh, alsoparticipated in the saffron campaigning. The candidates of Congress andTMC wereSushmita Debnath and Mrinal Kanti Debnath respectively. The BJP has been losing a section of traditional Congress voters, who opted for the saffronparty in 2018 to defeat the Left Front. That was seen first in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, whereCongress emerged second pushing the CPI(M) to the third position and later in the civicpolls held last year, where the organisationally non-existent TMC came third by fetching 16%riding on the support of most of these disillusioned Congress voters. capabilities of the armed forces. The government had on June 16 increased the upper age limit for recruitment under the scheme to 23 years from 21 for the year 2022. Those recruited under the ‘Agnipath’ scheme will be called ‘Agniveer’. The Army has said the new scheme will ensure a youthful profile of the defence forces and result in reduction of the average age of soldiers from 32 to 26 years over a period of time. The three service chiefs have strongly backed the scheme, which was unveiled after over two years.

A survey by market research firm YouGov on Thursday showed that 46% of urban Indians said their cost of living went up ‘a lot’ compared to the last 12 months, while 33% said it went up ‘a little’.Over 1,000 respondents were polled online between June 7 and June 10, YouGov said, adding, “With inflation at its highest level in the past eight years, petrol prices spiralling and wholesale price inflation at a 30-year high, cost of living in India has gone up in the recent past.”Retail inflation touched an eight-year high of 7.79% in April and eased to 7.04% in May.The survey showed that over the last
six months urban consumers had reduced spending most on clothing, fuel and eating out. Half of respondents in Tier I cities said cost of living had gone up ‘a lot’ compared to 44% and 43% of residents in Tier II and III city residents who said the same thing. Purchase of new clothes topped the list of cutbacks, with over 35% respondents saying they had reduced spending on apparel and accessories. Over 30% said they had reduced spending on hobbies or leisure activities, and around 28% said they had reduced spending on eating out.Nearly a third of respondents said they had cut expenses on petrol or diesel.This behaviour was more pronounced in Tier I cities.

that she is yet to be paid for her last six months of work and is hopeful that she will be paid her dues Neha played the role of Anjali Taarak Mehta for 12 years before she left the show. She was replaced by Sunayana Fozdar as the new Anjali. Neha has recently completed work on a Gujarati film and will be seen in a web series.Opening up about her not being paid, Neha told Times of India in an interview, “I acted in Taarak Mehta as Anjali for 12 years before quitting in 2020. Sunvilla News: Ahmedabad The Gujarat High Court on Friday issued notices on the Sunni Awami Forum’s publicinterest petition against the conversion of 600-year-old Pir Imam Shah Bawa Dargah on the outskirts of Ahmedabad to Hindu religious places. A bench of Chief Justice Aravind Kumar and Justice Mauna Bhatt refused to order the status quo despite senior counsel Mihir Joshi submitting that the shrine was undergoing rapid changes and that unless the status quo was ordered, “the entire nature (of the place of worship) will change”.
The counsel for the petitioner added that such changes were “impermissible” as per the Places of Worship Act and would have “larger repercussions”. The state government, Ahmedabad collector, deputy collector, mamlatdar, superintendent police, police inspector of the Aslali police station and the Imamshah Bawa Roza Trust have been made respondents to the petition.
