Secret armies are threatening modern civilisation. Yet, there is no visible reduction in terrorism. It is true that Russia and France are bombing Islamic State (IS) targets together. But that was because Russia lost its Metrojet on October 31 and Paris was humiliated on November 13. It was only on September 27 that French President Francois Hollande had criticised Russia, without naming it, at the UN General Assembly, while asking for the removal of Bashar al-Assad. IDBI Bank on Thursday said it has raised $350 million (about Rs 2,310 crore) from green bonds to fund clean energy projects. The issue was made under the $5 billion (Rs 33,175 crore) medium term note (MTN) programme listed on Singapore Stock Exchange, IDBI Bank said in a statement. With this, IDBI has become the first state-owned commercial bank to raise $350 million by selling green bonds. The proceeds will be used for refinancing of clean energy projects assisted by the bank which include wind energy, solar energy etc., it said. The funds raised through the issue will also be used for financing of the new projects including sustainable transport, it added. IDBI Bank launched a “$350 million five-year Reg S green bond issue on November 23” and the issue was oversubscribed by three times.

The 22-year-old convener of the Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti is currently in jail in connection with the sedition case — lodged by the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB), Ahmedabad — based primarily on phone conversations between him and his associates. Officials said that of the 14.93 lakh who have never attended school there were 8.82 lakh students who were in the age group of 6-10 years. There are several migrant and tribal children and adivasi students who migrate to other parts of the state for livelihood with their families Even the Right to Education 2009 lays emphasis on this migrant population “While the panchayat or the principal certifies that 100% students are enrolled, the officer who visits the village doesn’t verify this.Several Thakore and Dalit children are not enrolled and the principal certifies them as enrolled,” said Jani.
