Rohit Sharma felt Shubman Gill made the difference in their loss to Gujarat Titans in IPL Qualifier 2 and hoped the opener continues his purple patch in India colours. Gill smashed 129 off 60 balls before Mohit Sharma (5/10) scalped a fifer as defending champions Gujarat Titans beat MI by 62 runs to storm into their second consecutive IPL final where they will meet Chennai Super Kings on Sunday. “Shubman batted well, wicket was good. They got 20-25 extra. We were positive after the first-half. We have to credit Shubman. I hope he continues that form,” he said. Rohit said Suryakumar Yadav and Cameron Green raised some hopes with their partnership, but he felt MI lost the game in the powerplay while chasing. “Greeny and Surya batted well but we lost our way. We wanted to give it a good crack, be positive. We couldn’t get going in the powerplay. We wanted one batter, like Gujarat did, and

The MI captain said Ishan Kishan’s concussion didn’t help the team either in its tall chase. “Kishan’s concussion was unexpected. It was a last-minute change. We had to adapt, to different conditions and situations.

Not looking at that though,” he said. He preferred to take positives from the campaign despite failing to qualify for the final. “Playing this game, qualifying and coming this far is big, the batting has been a big positive we can take into the next season. All the bowling teams have been challenged. “We had a great performance last game. Tim’s (David) been given a role this

season,” he said. Winning captain Hardik Pandya said the clarity of thought in Gill’s batting is helping him pile on the runs. “I think the clarity and confidence he is carrying is amazing. Today’s innings was one of the finest, he never looked rushed. It felt like someone was throwing balls and he was hitting. He will be a superstar in international and franchise cricket,” said Hardik. In the final, Hardik’s side will square off against MS Dhoniled Chennai Super Kings on May 28 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Suryakumar Yadav smashed 61 in 38 balls, while Tilak Varma scored 43 in 14 balls and Cameron Green added 30 in 20 but it was no show from the rest of the batting lineup as seven Mumbai Indians batsmen failed to reach double figures. Earlier, Rohit had won the toss following a rain delay and he predictably chose to bowl given the weather and his side’s chasing capabilities but MI were given a mountain too steep to climb.

Did Congress Miss a Trick by Boycotting New Parliament Function? It Could Instead Have…

Part of Gujarat may experience unseasonal rain from May 27 to May 30

A look at the 24 MLAs sworn in to the Karnataka cabinet today

Twenty-five political parties have said they will attend the opening ceremony of the new Parliament building on Sunday, while 20 opposition parties, led by the Congress, have announced a boycott of the historic function, saying the President hasn’t been invited. But could the Congress have done this differently? Imagine this scenario. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge had called a joint press conference with the leaders of all other 19 parties in attendance. There, the Congress and other parties could have said that they will attend the Parliament opening function as they are themselves a part of the august house of MPs. But to score their point in a more astute political way, they could have said they were ‘pained’ by the point that President Droupadi Murmu was not on the invitee list. The Congress could have said that the Centre has erred in not inviting Murmu and it would be in the fitness of things that the Centre revisits the decision. The parties may have asked for the invite sent out to them to be amended and the President’s name added in a revised invite. This could have thrown the ball in the Centre’s court, especially if the Congress had cited how Murmu became President largely due to the BJP’s support. But by announcing a boycott of the event and adopting a confrontationist approach, much like the policy of Rahul Gandhi, the larger opposition seems to have ceded all space on the all-important day to the BJP. As seen in the past, the Modi-led regime could care no less and would dominate the grand show on Sunday - complete with the latest political narrative on the Sengol. Even if the government had stuck to its guns and stuck to the schedule as decided, opposition leaders could have gone to the Parliament function and, after emerging from the building at the end, made their point on TV cameras that though the new Parliament was welcome, they had ‘missed the presence’ of the President on the occasion. This may have helped the Congress score some political brownie points. NonNDA parties like Kumaraswamy’s JDS, the Akali Dal, YSRCP, TDP, BSP and Biju Janata Dal seems to have realised the same by choosing to join the Parliament inauguration function, saying the inauguration of the new Parliament is a “moment of pride”. To be sure, the President’s message will be read out during the function. The BJP, in fact, has turned around the debate, asking why did the UPA-led parties put up a candidate against Droupadi Murmu during the presidential polls. The BJP has termed the Congress attitude as “non-democratic” and blamed it on Congress not accepting Modi as a democratically elected PM. BJP MPs would reiterate the same on Sunday. Ultimately, the 20 opposition parties will be attending the next parliament session in the new Sansad. Politics is not always a boxing match. Most times, it’s about scoring one’s point astutely. By announcing a boycott of the Parliament building inauguration and adopting a confrontationist approach, much like the policy of Rahul Gandhi, the larger opposition seems to have ceded all space on the allimportant day to the BJP.

Gujarat govt hands over disproportionate assets case against Ex-Gandhinagar Collector to ACB

According to ACB, it recently prepared a list of alleged corrupt government officials and employees from different departments of the government. There was a special vigilance on them.

The state government has handed over the investigation against former Gandhinagar collector SK Langa to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly possessing disproportionate assets. The ACB will examine his bank accounts, gold and silver items, fixed deposits, properties, and other relevant assets. A special investigation team (SIT) has been formed, led by Gandhinagar SP Tarun Dugal, to investigate revenue and other related issues. The ACB

NASA seeks industry proposals for nextgen lunar rover to traverse Moon

Agency News : New Delhi

NASA said Friday it is seeking industry proposals for a next-generation Lunar Terrain Vehicle (LTV), which will enable astronauts to traverse the challenging south polar region of the Moon, conducting extensive scientific research and exploration like never before during Artemis missions. The Artemis program aims to land the first woman and the next man on the lunar surface by 2024, with subsequent missions focusing on establishing a sustainable human

presence on the Moon. As part of this ambitious endeavour, NASA recognizes the need for an advanced lunar rover that Artemis astronauts will drive to explore and sample more of the lunar surface than they could on foot. Rather than owning the rover, NASA has decided to contract it as a service from industry partners. This approach will allow the agency to leverage the innovation and expertise of commercial companies, ensuring the best possible outcome while providing the highest value to U.S. taxpayers.

According to NASA, the LTV will blend the functionalities of an Apollo-style lunar rover and a Mars-style uncrewed rover. It will serve as both a crewed

and uncrewed mobile science exploration platform, allowing for continuous scientific investigations even when the crew is not present.

A rare optic phenomenon, the ‘Sun Halo’ or ‘22 degree halo’ appears like a rainbow encircling the sun or moon at a radius of approximately 22 degrees. It occurs due to sunlight refracting in millions of hexagonal ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere. It takes the

Many citizens recorded the unusual visual spectacle on their mobile phones and uploaded it on social media where it soon became viral. The same phenomenon was sighted in Dehrdaun last year. Experts say that people must exercise caution while taking pictures of ‘sun halos’ as facing the sun directly.
