After the announcement, several Indian employees at the company started receiving plans for Voluntary Separation Program (VSP), urging them to resign voluntarily instead of the company terminating their contract. Indian employees working in the L1 to L7 band in Amazon’s Experience and Technology team have received a note saying they are eligible for the company’s Voluntary Separation Program. Under the VSP, if employees resign by November 30 of this year, they are promised certain benefits. Employees in performance improvement programs (PIP) are also not eligible for VSP. Business Today has reached out to Amazon to check the timeline by when the benefits will be rolled out to employees after they resign. The copy will be updated when the company responds. “There will be no obligation to repay any portion of VSP benefits if an exiting VSP applicant returns to Amazon after their Exit Date. Employees who are being performance managed as of their exit will not be eligible to return to Amazon,” the document says. Bhagyashree Pancholy, employment law practitioner and general counsel at LanoGMBH, notes that upon resigning from the company, employees forego the right to contest the end of employment legally. “If an employee is fired by the company, the termination can be challenged legally. But when an employee resigns voluntarily, then they waive their right to challenge the end of employment in a court of law. Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari has asserted that the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) will be implemented in the state, and dared Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to stop its rollout. During a meeting in North 24 Parganas District’s Thakurnagar, an area dominated by the Matuas whose roots are in Bangladesh, Adhikari said the CAA does not suggest that citizenship of anyone will be taken away if one is a bonafide resident with legal documents. “We have discussed about the CAA several times. It will be rolled out in the state. If you have guts, stop it from being enforced,” the Nandigram MLA said in an apparent reference to the chief minister. The CAA facilitates the grant of citizenship to migrants belonging to Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi and Christian communities from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan. But, as the rules under the act have not been framed by the government yet, no one so far could be granted citizenship under it. “Matua community members will also be given citizenship,” Adhikari said at the

The Reserve Bank of India has stopped the onboarding of online merchants by Paytm Payments Services Ltd (PPSL), a subsidiary of One97 Communications Ltd (OCL), and asked it to reapply for a payment aggregators licence. OCL, however, said the development will not have any material impact on its business. The company had proposed to transfer the payment aggregator (PA) services business undertaken by it to PPSL in December 2020 to comply with the guidelines of the banking regulator.
However, the RBI had rejected its application. The company had re-submitted the required documents in September 2021. In a regulatory filing, Paytm on Saturday said that PPSL has now received a letter from the RBI in response to the application for the authorisation to provide PA services for online merchants.

Agency News : New Delhi India Inc has begun to feel the adverse impact of RBI’s interest rate hikes of 190 basis points in the current financial year, industry body CII said on Sunday, as it urged the central bank to consider moderating the pace of its monetary tightening ahead of the forthcoming policy. CII’s analysis of results of 2,000-odd companies in the second quarter shows that both the top-line and bottom-line has moderated on sequential and annual basis. Thus, moderation in pace of monetary tightening is the need of the hour, it argued. According to CII, domestic demand is recovering well as mirrored by the performance of a host of high-frequency indicators. However, the prevailing global ‘polycrisis’ is likely to impinge on India’s growth prospects too. “Given the headwinds to domestic growth mainly emanating from the global uncertainties, the RBI should

22. In the three previous fiscal years, it was 12 percent. Though initially during the lockdowns, people saved their funds, keeping in mind the possibilities of spending on healthcare. Once the restrictions eased, they went on a spending spree, which economists termed “revenge spending”. This led to the depletion of their savings, and a situation arose when spending exceeded income. There were cases when, despite having no jobs, expenditures rose, and savings bore the brunt of this excess or revenge spending, economists explained.

Gokhale, known for several Marathi and Hindi films including the Bachchanstarrer “Agneepath” (1990), passed away on Saturday due to multi-organ failure at a Punebased hospital where he was undergoing treatment. He was 77. Tabassum, known for her work as a child artiste in several Hindi classics such as “Baiju Bawra” and “Mughal-e-Azam”, and also as host of popular Doordarshan talk show “Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan”, died last week following cardiac arrest. She was 78. Bachchan took to his blog to
remember Gokhale and Tabassum. “The days are lined with sadness.. friends and colleagues.. artists of huge merit, leave us day by day.. and we listen, see and pray.. Tabassum ..
