The Supreme Court on Thursday paved the way for a common entrance test for MBBS, BDS and PG courses through the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET). The Centre and Medical Council of India (MCI) had said the All India Pre-Medical Test for May would be treated as NEET1 and the second phase would be treated NEET-2, which will be held on July 24. The combined result was scheduled for August 17. The SC cleared the schedule proposed by the Centre. The NEET -- a new entrance examination -- is meant to bring all medical aspirants in the country under an umbrella test. The decision
to hold the entrance exam through NEET was earlier opposed by states including Tamil Nadu and Association of Karnataka Medical Colleges besides minority institutions like CMC Vellore saying it is illegal and unconstitutional. Equally unusual: Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh spoke out (NDTV 24×7). For two public figures who have consistently and conspicuously avoided speaking to the media — TV news in particular — these comments indicated how seriously they had taken the BJP’s allegations of corruption against the party and The Family. Since Tuesday, allegations have been flying faster than the chopper itself. Facts were rarely and barely mentioned: What of a two-year-old CBI investigation? Till Wednesday afternoon, we had heard nothing of it. For the BJP, the verdict allowed it to drag Sonia Gandhi into the controversy. On Wednesday, newly appointed BJP Rajya Sabha member Subramanian Swamy actually named her; his remarks were expunged but that didn’t trouble TV news which liberally quoted him, then juxtaposed him with Sonia dismissing the charges as baseless while the ticker tape fought its own version of the war: “Top” Congress leaders involved, says Defence Minister Parrikar; “Let them take my name, I am not afraid,” replies Sonia. The two parties behave like the bitterest foes in the latest season of Game of Thrones (Star Premiere HD). On television, they are at each other’s throats, almost ready to slit them. Russia was the top drugs offender in 2014 accounting for 148 of the 1,693 doping violations recorded, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) said on Wednesday. Athletics accounted for 200 of the violations, coming second behind bodybuilding (207) in WADA’s annual report for 2014. Russia, which could miss the Rio Olympics athletics because of a doping scandal, was followed by Italy (123), India (96), Belgium (91), France (91), Turkey (73), Australia (49),
China (49), Brazil (46) and South Korea (43) as the top 10 offending countries. In total, individuals from 109 countries across 83 sports committed anti-doping rule violations. A total of 1,462 of the doping violations arose through adverse analytical findings in conventional drug

The most recent update to the application saw the addition of sharing PDF documents, making it a very versatile instant messaging client. A new discovery has now revealed that WhatsApp could be baking in more features with the app soon. While it’s not known when the features will go commercial, it has already been found on the beta version, apparently. The iOS version is supposedly getting a new voice mail option, which basically lets you send a voice message when a WhatsApp call is failed. Further, users will also be able to callback and message directly from the notifications shade (Android) when they have a missed WhatsApp call. This is similar to how the stock dialer app works on most Android phones, so it seems like WhatsApp wants to replicate that experience. Lastly, there is supposedly going to be a new zip file sharing feature on the app, which could aid you in sending large files in a compressed format. Of course, we’re yet to see all these features for ourselves, so we can’t comment on their functionality. Since it’s a beta feature, we expect WhatsApp to make these new additions public over the coming weeks. Don’t be surprised if it takes longer, though.
