There has been an uptick in the last few years in the focus on menstrual health and hygiene (MHH) worldwide. In India, MHH gained its rightful place in the public health discourse when the National Health Mission 2011 promoted a menstrual hygiene scheme among adolescent girls in rural areas. Menstrual hygiene management (MHM) is an integral part of the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ guidelines; the Union Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation also issued MHM guidelines for schools in 2015. (2019-2021) revealed that around 90% of women with 12 or more years of schooling used safe period products (locally prepared napkins, sanitary napkins, tampons, and menstrual cups) in 17 states and Union territories. Border Security Force (BSF) has shot down another drone near India-Pakistan International Border (IB) in Punjab’s Amritsar and arrested a smuggler along with a narcotics consignment on Saturday evening, the force said today.

BSF personnel deployed near Dhanoe village in the Khurd district in Amritsar shot down and intercepted the drone after they heard a buzzing sound from the drone at about 9:35 pm yesterday. During a subsequent search of the area, the troops recovered a drone (Quadcopter, DJI Matrice RTK 300) from the farming fields in Dhanoe village, said the Central Armed Police Force mandated to guard the India-Pakistan border.

Meanwhile, the BSF said troops deployed near Dhanoe village saw three persons running towards the village, challenged them and caught hold of one suspect alongwith a bag containing a suspected narcotics consignment of three packets (gross weight of approximately 3.4 kg) worth crores. An iron hook and four luminous strips were also found attached to the consignment, said the BSF. With the fresh action, the BSF said, another nefarious attempt of Pakistan to smuggle narcotics foiled by vigilant troops of the force. Three women were killed and more than 20 persons were injured after a bus overturned in Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur district on Sunday, officials said. The incident occurred near Bhaugarh on Mhow-Neemuch road, some 18 kilometres from the district headquarters, in the afternoon, City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Satnam Singh. “Three women, aged 74, 62 and 60 years, were killed. The bus had more than 40 passengers,” the CSP said. Chief Medical and Health Officer Anil Nakum said more than 20 persons suffered injuries and have been hospitalised. Passenger Ayushi Tripathi, a resident of Ujjain, claimed the bus was speeding when the incident took place, while passenger Prachi, who suffered injuries, said the bus overturned after hitting a road divider. Meanwhile, Mandsaur MLA Yashpal Singh Sisodia said Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced ex-gratia of ₹ 4 lakh each to the kin of the deceased and ₹ 50,000 to those with serious injuries, while those with minor wounds will get ₹ 25,000.

Following the modification, the bank is currently offering interest rates on deposit tenors of 7 days to 10 years that range from 4.75% to 7.00% for the general public and 5.25% to 7.75% for elderly individuals. The maximum interest rate for deposits maturing in 1 year to 15 months is currently 7.75% for senior citizens and 7.25% for regular customers. As per the official website of HDFC Bank the new bulk FD rates are effective as of 27th May, 2023. On bulk deposits maturing in 7 to 29 days, the bank is now offering an interest rate of 4.75% and on those maturing in 30 - 45 days, HDFC Bank is now promising an interest rate of 5.50%. HDFC Bank is now promising an interest rate of 5.75% on a deposit tenure of 46 - 60 days and an interest rate of 6.00% on a deposit tenure of 61 - 89 days. Deposits maturing in 90 days to 6 months will fetch an interest rate of 6.50% and those maturing in 6 months 1 day to 9 months will fetch an interest rate of 6.65%. The bank will give an interest rate of 6.75% on fixed deposits maturing in 9 months, 1 day to 1 year, while HDFC Bank will offer an interest rate of 7.25% on deposits maturing in 1 year to 15 months. For deposits that mature between 15 months to two years, HDFC Bank will give an interest rate of 7.05%, and for deposits maturing in two years, one day to ten years, the interest rate will be 7.00%. On fixed deposit tenure of 7 days to 5 years, senior citizens will get an additional interest rate of 50 bps or 0.50% higher than the standard.
