PM Modi Visits Mother In Ahmedabad Hospital, Doctors Say “Condition Stable” Sunvilla News: Ahmedabad Prime Minister Narendra Modi today visited his mother Heeraben Modi who is in a hospital in Ahmedabad since last night. Having flown in from Delhi around 4 pm, he left the hospital just before 5.30, spending over an hour with his mother. A statement from UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre said the condition of Heeraben Modi — who turned 99 in June this year — is stable. The hospital has not shared any other information. The BJP’s Gujarat MLAs Darshanaben Vaghela and Kaushik Jain have reached the hospital. The Prime Minister, who has often spoken of his bond with his mother, visited her recently when he was in Gujarat to campaign for the recently held Assembly polls. The new Vande Bharat Express from Howrah to New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal, to be flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, will save three hours of travel time compared to other trains on the route, officials said on Wednesday. Currently, there are 14 trains that cover the 564-km distance at an average travel time of around 10:45 hours. The new train will cover the distance in 7:45 hours, the officials said, considerably bringing down the run time between Calcutta and Siliguri, the gateway to the northeast. The train will have three stoppages -- Barsoi, Malda and Bolpur. The blue-and-white train has already arrived at Eastern Railway’s Liluah loco shed. The semi-high speed train with modern passenger amenities is likely to attract tourists travelling to the hills of north Bengal and the Dooars as well as Sikkim.

The Delhi High Court has refused to entertain a plea against Air India by the Indian Airlines Officers Association seeking pay and allowance arrears, saying the airline has ceased to be a governmentcontrolled company and is no longer amenable to its writ jurisdiction. The Serum Institute of India (SII) has offered two crore doses of Covishield vaccine to the central government free of cost amid a rise in COVID-19 cases in some countries, official sources said on Wednesday. According to an official source, Prakash Kumar Singh, Director of Government and Regulatory Affairs at the Serum Institute, has written to the Health Ministry offering the doses worth Rs 410 crore free of cost. A social media influencer was found hanging in her house in Chhattisgarh, police said on Tuesday, suspecting this to be a case of suicide. Leena Nagwanshi, a 22-year-old college student, hanged herself on the terrace of her house in Raigarh district when her mother had stepped out. Back after half an hour, she found her daughter hanging on the terrace and brought her body down believing she was alive. The second year B.Com student had gone to the terrace to study and used her dupatta to hang herself. No suicide note was recovered, said police. Leena was the youngest daughter of the family. She was
active on TikTok and had over 10,000 followers on Instagram. Her body has been sent for post-mortem, said police. The cause of her death could be ascertained after the investigation, they said, adding that they are probing all angles. A case has been registered and her phone has been seized for investigation purposes.

Nine children, who were illegally employed at a garment’s factory in Noida, have been rescued by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of the Gautam Buddh Nagar police, officials said on Wednesday. The CBI submitted the referral report in the court here on Tuesday, sources said. Last year, the CBI had taken over the investigation into cases against Chandy, former Union minister K C Venugopal and other politicians related to allegations of sexual exploitation
by the accused woman. The cases against the six persons, including Chandy, were registered over the last few years and investigated by the Crime Branch of the Kerala Police based on a complaint by the woman, an accused in the multicrore solar panel scam during the UDF government, that she was sexually exploited by them in 2012. The CPI(M)-led Kerala government had recommended a CBI inquiry into the cases in early 2021. The opposition Congress had dubbed the move as “politically motivated”, saying the LDF government could not find anything against the party leaders and took the decision as elections were around the corner.

The private sector bank has increased RD interest rate up to 75 basis points on tenures of 6 months, 12
months, 15 months, 18 months, and 21 months. According to Kotak Mahindra Bank’s website, “Minimum Tenure of Recurring Deposit will be 6 months and in multiples of 3 months up to a maximum of 10 year… Maximum Value of RD per month for tenor greater than 36 months is restricted to Rs 25,000. For Tenor up to 36 months the Maximum RD value per month is restricted to Rs 1,00,000.” Recently, IDBI Bank raised its interest rate on fixed deposits (FD) below Rs 2 crore, with effect from December 19.

The Indian rupee this year saw a sharp decline hitting alltime lows multiple times. In the current calendar year, the rupee has declined about 12 per cent to 82.85 now after plunging to all-time lows multiple times. The domestic currency had stood at 73.77 to a dollar on January 12, 2022. The rupee witnessed a decline this year mainly due to the strengthening of the American currency, risk-averse sentiment among investors, and escalation of geopolitical risks due to the conflict in Ukraine. The major reason for falling the rupee in the past few months was the continuous outflow of dollars due to the exit of foreign portfolio investors (FPIs). However,
after nine straight months of net outflows since October 2021, FPIs in July became net buyers. According to a senior banker, the rupee has seen the worst in 2022 and is likely to start making a recovery in 2023. Foreign investors have infused a net Rs 11,557 crore in Indian equities in December so far despite a market correction and increasing concerns over the re-emergence of COVID in China and some other parts of the world.

It added that about 364,900 units have been sold so far this calendar year against 236,500 units in 2021 across the top-7 cities, an increase of 54 per cent year-on-year (YoY). According to the report, the last peak in housing sales was seen in 2014 when 343,000 units were sold in the national capital region (NCR), Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), Bengaluru, Pune,
Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata. MMR had the highest sales of about 1,09,700 units in 2022, followed by NCR (63,700 units). These two realty hotspots are once again the leading residential markets, according to the report. Chennai and Kolkata had fewer sales than other cities. About 16,100 units were sold in Chennai and 21,200 units in Kolkata during the year. Puri added that while it was widely anticipated that the rise in property prices and interest rates towards the second half of 2022 would have a cascading impact on residential sales, Q4 of calendar 2022 remained quite robust, with as many as 92,160 units sold in the period.

The project will be commissioned within 24 months from the PPA execution date. The letter was awarded through an e-reverse auction. The power generated from the project will be supplied to Tata PowerDDL, which supplies electricity to a populace of over 7 million in North Delhi. The letter indicates the current capacity bifurcation as 85MW solar and 170MW
wind power with the green-shoe option of additional capacity of 85MW solar and 170MW wind.
