Architecture, in my mind, is not only a 3D body to provide activity space for people, but also a carrier to shoulder people’s emotion and memory in the space. It could be seen as the space language to communicate with people and their spirits. With the idea, I think that it is not adequate for an architect to have design knowledge, but profound understandings of social requirements are also important. I am eager to become such a professional designer who has sharp observation to feel people’s life space, emotion, and real demands. I would like to put myself as a director, to create an emotional space for people by considering endless possibilities. The aspiration motivated me to grab more academic knowledge and practical experience during university.

THE REBIRTH OF THE LI-COURTYARD Cultural and creative stores based on the psychological research of literary youth Type:Academic Project Site Location:Qingdao China Date:2021.3-2021.6 Collaboration:Individual work Supervisor:Yuchen GAO gaoyuchen@qut.edu.cn

In China, literary and artistic youth account for a large proportion of young people. They like to explore, pursue exquisite life and share their unique taste. These psychological characteristics promote them to produce a large amount of consumption and give them the potential to create traffic. These groups have great commercial value, which is worth exploring. Li-courtyard is a traditional historical and cultural urban area of Qingdao. It carries the historical mark of Qingdao's development and has high cultural value. With the promotion of urbanization, this urban area can not keep up with the pace of development and is gradually eliminated. However, its unique cultural characteristics are still attracting young people, so I want to use the group of culture and youth to meet their psychological needs and stimulate them to come to consume, so as to activate the old urban area.

X BAR Bar space based on spatial behavior investigation Type:Academic Project Site Location:Qingdao China Date:2021.7-2021.9 Collaboration:Individual work Supervisor:Yuchen GAO gaoyuchen@qut.edu.cn

When I was in college, I usually liked to hike in the city and use a camera to record the interaction between people and space I observed. Once when I was drinking in a bar, I found that although the appearance of people in this bar space is the same, their internal psychological and behavioral needs are very different. Even the target behavior of a person who comes here at different times is also different, and the space is often unable to carry these needs and block the contradictions and conflicts between these needs. Therefore, I try to define a spatial order to carry people's personalized needs and guide people to choose the matching space according to their own needs.

CONTRADICTION AND CONFLICT

TARGET BEHAVIOR

Everyone comes to this space with different goals. There are contradictions and conflicts between these differences. However, the original architectural space can not separate these contradictions. People can not choose the appropriate space according to their own needs, which leads to the deterioration of people's space experience and people's lack of freedom in the space.

The corresponding space units are generated according to people's behavior needs, and they are divided into levels according to the degree of privacy. In accordance with the law of choice, the most open space units are arranged at the most central position of the building by using the diagonal bracing structure system, and the openness of the whole space decreases from the center to the periphery. Set the platform system as the connection of the main functional units, put service functional units in it, and integrate the main functional units to form a complete space unit module.

In each space level, all elements constituting the space atmosphere are adjusted and matched according to the attributes of the level to strengthen the atmosphere expression in each space level, and on this basis, personalized space is created by controlling the changes of the constituent elements of each space unit. At the same time, the outstanding expressiveness of the diagonal bracing structure in the space is used to guide people's line of sight, guide people's path, help people better observe and experience the space, and choose the space matching the atmosphere according to their own needs.

UNIVERSITY GYMNASIUM An activity space based on campus space environment research Type:Academic Project Site Location:Qingdao China Date:2020.3-2020.7 Collaboration:Individual work Supervisor:Chong Xu 568254608@qq.com

The project is located in an open space on the campus of Qingdao University of technology. I used to exercise here during my university. This land also carries the daily activities of teachers and students and people in the surrounding communities. I think as a gymnasium, its most essential task is to provide people with a place suitable for sports and have the ability to attract people to exercise. In addition, we also need to think about the impact of the generation of a building on the surrounding environment and how to make up for the memories of people carried by the original site.

PEOPLE'S PSYCHOLOGY I want to see everyone exercise together, which can also attract me to exercise more

I want to take a walk here after dinner

The school building is not open to me. I can only play outdoors

If the volleyball court is occupied, I can't play outside

I think the school lacks space to sit down and communicate

I need space for community activities

ANALYSIS OF THE SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT OF THE SITE

The site of the program is located in a public green space of the school, which has always been used as an area for students to walk and exercise after dinner

There are roads connecting the surrounding areas in the original site, which carr y the activities of students

The green area in the original site is large, and students like to take a walk here

The site is close to the main traffic roads of the school, and there is a large flow of people at ordinary times

The west side of the site is a public activity site, which is often visited by people outside the school

The north side of the site is close to the school canteen, where many students rest after dinner

On the south side of the venue is the girls' dormitory, which needs to block the sight of people in the gymnasium

On the east side of the court is the basketball court. Students often come to play

The gymnasium can guide the sight of people outside the school and attract them to exercise

NEEDS AND TASKS

SPACE STRATEGY

ATRIUM In the atrium of the building, two staircases are arranged around the top and a movable platform is inserted to focus people's eyes. By improving the permeability of the main sports space, people can better feel the rich sports scenes in the internal space and shape the sports atmosphere of the space.

ENTRANCE PLAZA

OUTDOOR ACTIVITY PLATFORM A number of outdoor activity platforms are set on the outside of the building, so that people can move from indoor to outdoor activities at any time. Moreover, by improving the permeability of the space, the visual connection between indoor and outdoor space is enhanced, so that people can feel richer sports scenes and improve their spatial experience.

GERENAL PLAN

In urban renewal, we opt for phased activation. First of all, small-scale planting is used to attract the interest of residents, and then expand the scale, concentrate production, increase regional grain production, and finally develop the tourism industry around the region, form a complete tourism axis, and stimulate the outbreak of the regional economy. In this area, we have demonstrated the development model of urban agriculture in different spatial types, providing a template for the placement of urban agriculture throughout the city and arousing interest.

Develop tourism-related industries to stimulate economic growth.

DEVELOPMENT PROCESS

Grow landscapes and food on a family basis.

The community garden is planted with landscape.

Use your own rooftops to grow food and landscapes.

Planting areas are provided on the street side.

Set up a wet market for vegetable trading.

Grow food in large areas along the river.

Establish planting towers to concentrate on planting.

Warehouses were set up to store grain.

Establish an urban agriculture exhibition park.

Establishment of ecorestaurants to receive tourists.

A landscape trail is established along the riverside .

The TOD model makes the most of public transport.

STAGE 1 In the initial stage, we selected the public spaces that people in the city are most often exposed to and the yards of several families for small-scale planting, in this stage, the crops planted are mainly ornamental and food, so that people can see the possibilities of urban agricultural development, arouse people's interest in planting, and prepare for the next step of activation.

STAGE 2 As people's understanding and interest in urban agriculture increased, we increased the area used for cultivation in the city, selected several vacant lots to concentrate on planting and built platforms for the surrounding areas for food trading, food storage, providing people with planting materials and cultivating planting techniques.

STAGE 3 After the development of urban agriculture in this area, we chose to enhance the tourism value of the region, take the display of urban agriculture as a selling point, and connect several planting nodes in the region through the setting of the tourism axis to create a complete urban agricultural tourism area.

MEDITATION POOL

REVOLVING

People shuttled through the maze of city walls, stroked the thick concrete walls, and felt the baptism of history. The feeling of depression brought by the tall walls makes the atmosphere of this land that has experienced the trauma of war even more serious. In the end, under the guidance of the ramp between the walls, the vision suddenly became clear. People have come to the center of the pool, and the sky is shining from above. People’s thinking about history is sublimated here, and the pain caused by the war will be quiet at this moment. Heal, and history will continue to settle in the walls.

You can reach this place no matter whether it is a road on the ground or a corridor in the air. People go round and round the spirally ascending ramp, and they can see the green crops planted in the planting tower. Ornamental vegetation is also planted on both sides of the road, as if they are in a sky garden. On the way, people can walk to different scenic spots through different corridors. Going to the highest point, you can also overlook the scene of the entire park.
