AID FOR PART-TIME STUDY (APTS)

WHAT IS APTS? The Aid for Part-Time Study or APTS program is a grant program financed by New York State. The program is intended to provide additional financial help to part-time undergraduate students. Eligibility Requirements

       

Must be United States citizen or eligible noncitizen Meet New York State Residency Requirements U.S. high school diploma, GED, TASC, or pass a federally-approved Ability to Benefit Test Must be matriculated in a degree or certificate program Be in good academic standing per New York State regulations Be enrolled as a part-time student with at least 3 required degree credits Must not have incurred full-time tuition liability Be enrolled for eligible credits at the time the APTS is certified. (Note: Repeating a course in which you earned a passing grade cannot be counted toward part-time course load.)

WHAT ARE THE INCOME LIMITS? DEPENDENT (claimed on parents’ taxes) Student and parents combined taxable income cannot exceed $50,550

INDEPENDENT – NO CHILDREN (not claimed by parents, no dependents) Student and/or spouse combined taxable income cannot exceed $34,240

INDEPENDENT WITH CHILDREN (not claimed by parents, have children or other dependents) Student and/or spouse combined taxable income cannot exceed $50,550

Application Procedures:

Submit a signed and completed application with: a signed copy of your 2018 New York State Tax Return  a signed copy of parents’ 2018 New York State Tax Return (if claimed by parents)
