Klaskala, Nicolette, A Covid Christmas

A Covid Christmas Nicolette Klaskala

Winter has come, but this one has changed. The stockings are hung, with masks in their space. We gather apart, with gifts to exchange, in hopes that Saint Nick has found the right place.

The Bills keep us sane as we watch the snow fall. The empty stands gaze back calling our name. Inside, children laugh on their zoom call, I wonder if they think it’s just a game.

Through all of the change that we’ve come to know, some things will always stay true to themselves. Christmas always comes with gifts wrapped in bows, And at the North Pole you will always see elves.

See, givingand joy will stay in our heart— No matter how far we must stay apart.
