ANOTHER WORLD-FIRST IN SAFETY. Ford Motor Company has always been a leader in safety. The 2011 Ford Explorer continues that heritage with the world’s first inflatable rear safety belts1 in automotive production. Optional for the 2nd-row outboard seating positions, the belts are compatible with child-safety seats. They’re designed to deploy in less than a blink of an eye in the event of a frontal or side collision, distributing pressure across more of the occupant’s torso than a traditional belt, which helps reduce the risk of injury.

AN EXTRA SAFETY MEASURE FOR THE DRIVER. A class-exclusive2 driver’s knee airbag – which inflates between the knees and the instrument panel in a crash – gives Ford Fiesta a class-leading 7 airbags. All are smartly positioned to help protect the driver and passengers.

HELPS FIRST RESPONDERS TO READILY LOCATE YOUR VEHICLE. After a crash in which any airbag has deployed or a safety belt pretensioner has activated, the SOS Post-Crash Alert SystemTM1 automatically sounds the horn and flashes the hazard lights.3
