ABOUT THE CONTRIBUTOR
Phil Hawes would describe himself as an avid Researcher. Now in his 60s and living in the south of England, Phil spent some of his childhood years in Australia. After coming to England he entered the corporate world, achieving high success in the telecommunications industry, in a career that took him all over the world. Phil was a country Managing Director for Uniden; at that time Uniden was one of the world’s largest telecommunications companies, based in Tokyo. With corporate life taking its toll on his health, Phil began his quest for knowledge to improve his life and health, researching various avenues to help him improve his condition. After some initial success, several years ago, Phil travelled to the United States of America to attend a conference in Las Vegas. There, he heard a speech by Professor Brian Scott Peskin, which literally changed his life. Professor Peskin’s conference speech addressed the importance of Parent Essential Oils to human health, and clarified why he believed Fish Oil based supplements were potentially harmful. Since that conference, Phil has researched the subject of Parent Essential Oils in great depth, concentrating on the studies and theories of Professor Peskin, many of which are referred to or summarised in this book. In the years since first hearing Professor Peskin speak in Las Vegas, Phil’s health has been transformed and he has assisted numerous people to gain better understanding, health and well-being. Phil is married (43 years), with 4 children, 3 boys and a girl. He is in his third year on a PhD course in Nutritional Sciences. Phil is a founder member of The British Longevity Society http://www.thebls.org/ © Copyright 2015 10 Things To Know Ltd

INTRODUCTION If you are about to read this book, it is because you are interested to learn about your own, or a loved one’s health. The book has been written based upon my own experiences entering the Health and Wellness arena over 20 years ago. I am focusing upon the importance of a certain type of essential fatty acids (EFA’s), which will become clear as you read through this e-book. However, good health is not just a matter of EFA’s, but a combination of good habits in order to achieve “balance” in your body. They say “knowledge is power”, however, this is only true if the knowledge is acted upon. This can be only up to you. My own journey and experience with Parent Essential Oils started in quite an embarrassing way. In my previous working life I was an executive for one of the world’s largest telecommunications companies which happened to be Japanese. My life consisted of flying around the world, and staying in hotels. Many of these hotels were in Japan. Back then, I drank a lot of whiskey because that was what men of my age used to do, and especially in Japan, which is a country that seems to like drinking whiskey! By the time I reached my 40’s, my health was not in good condition. My kidneys were not functioning too well, nor was my liver, and I suffered from various ailments including eczema, hay fever, and all sorts of other little issues. I then heard about a new test called a Pulse Wave Velocity Test, which could measure how stiff a person’s arteries are. Curious, I decided to undergo the Pulse Wave Velocity Test. I discuss the test further below. I was shocked when I was told my biological age was 89! I was aged in my 40’s yet my arteries were similar to someone twice my age. I was shocked. According to The Framingham Study, which was a famous heart study carried out in the United States, statistically I had less than five years to live because my arteries were in such poor condition. At the time I had no idea my circulatory system was in a bad way. If I had not had the Pulse Wave Velocity Test I would never have known that my arteries were in such poor © Copyright 2015 10 Things To Know Ltd
11
condition. I did not have any symptoms or problems with my circulatory system, such as angina or pain in my chest, stroke or heart attack, but I knew I had to do something about it. I did not want to carry on risking such a problem developing. I decided to set about informing myself about the human body, and particularly the cardiovascular system, how it worked, and what it needed. I wanted to find out if there was anything I could do that would help me not to need a heart bypass or suffer a catastrophic heart attack. I travelled to America to speak to doctors and studied various substances including Arginine. My breakthrough really came however, when I met Professor Peskin and learnt all about Parent Essential Oils. I began supplementing with Parent Essential Oils. Now, although I am in my 60’s, my biological age is approximately that of someone in their mid-40’s, which is 20 years or so younger than my Chronological Age. This means that in the past 20 years, the condition of my cardiovascular system and the flexibility of my arteries has improved from those resembling an average 80year-old, to now that of an average person in the mid-40’s. Below I attach an example of four of my last Pulse Wave Velocity Test results, which confirm my internal (or ‘Biological) age as being between 47 and 49 years of age. I weigh 11 stones and I drink between 2 to 3 litres of water a day. I juice foods each day, so I generally eat a litre of vegetable juice each day. I exercise three times a week. As we get older it is very important to keep some form of exercise up to prevent our muscles from wasting away. Our heart is of course a muscle and exercise helps keep that fit and toned. From a personal point of view I’m very relieved that I learned about Parent Essential Oils. Frankly, had I not done so, and had I carried on living the lifestyle I used to lead, I’m not sure I would still be here today. Following this lifestyle and supplementing on PEOs has dramatically improved my health, of that I have no doubt. I would like to acknowledge and thank Professor Brian Scott Peskin for his help, knowledge and contribution over the years into the study of ‘Parent Essential Oils’ (a phrase coined by Professor Peskin himself). I hope that you will enjoy this book and act upon the information I give in order for you and others to experience a higher level of energy and health.

10 Things To Know Topic 1 What are Parent Essential Oils?
Health is not valued til sickness comes. Thomas Fuller
But the real secret to lifelong good health is actually the opposite: Let your body take care of you. Deepak Chopra
Essential Fatty Acids include a range of Omega Oils including Omega 3, Omega 6, Omega 7 and Omega 9 oils. These oils are Essential Fatty Acids because they are necessary for good health. In other words they are essential to have in our bodies for us to remain healthy. Two of the Essential Fatty Acids namely Omega 3 and Omega 6 cannot be made in the human body and therefore the body has to ingest (or eat) these oils to maintain good health. Once they have been ingested the human body can convert the Essential Fatty Acids into various derivatives which the body needs. It is because the Essential Fatty Acids themselves are directly required by the body, to then be converted into derivatives, that Professor Peskin coined the phrase ‘Parent Essential Oils’ (PEOs). In effect Omega 3 and Omega 6 Essential Fatty Acids are the Parent Essential Oils which all humans need. The body uses the Parent Essential Oils (Omega 3 and Omega 6) in their parent state, but also converts them into other derivative substances which are necessary for the healthy state of the body. The important point is that the body cannot manufacture the Parent Essential Oils itself, and is wholly reliant upon the regular ingestion of the Parent Essential Oils to obtain them. Many other elements and vitamins can be produced or generated within the body. Many cannot however, and Omega 6 and Omega 3 are two Essential Fatty Acids that must be eaten.

America’s health care system is in crisis precisely because we systematically neglect wellness and prevention. Tom Harkin
We can make a commitment to promote vegetables and fruits and whole grains on every part of every menu. We can make portion sizes smaller and emphasise quality over quantity. And we can help create a culture – imagine this – where our kids ask for healthy options instead of resisting them. Michelle Obama
Omega 3 and Omega 6 oils are present in a wide range of food. Some types of food are naturally richer than others in Parent Essential Oils. For instance some foods are naturally more oily. Foodstuffs which are rich in Parent Essential Oils include many types of meat, fish, vegetables and fruit. Theoretically, a good, mixed and varied diet should result in the person receiving enough Parent Essential Oils in their diet. However, more and more people are becoming increasingly deficient of Parent Essential Oils in their diet. I believe this is now posing a massive health problem to millions of people over the world including in the so called ‘Developed World’. So this begs the question, why when there is plenty of food available in the developed world, are people deficient in Parent Essential Oils? The main reason is that due to intensive farming methods, whereby food is mass produced and the soils in which the food is grown have become depleted of micronutrients, so the food which is grown contains markedly fewer nutrients than it used to previously. For instance the mineral content and trace mineral content of many fruit and vegetables on supermarket shelves nowadays is approximately 70% lower than 60 years ago. © Copyright 2015 10 Things To Know Ltd
15
It may well therefore be the case that you try and eat plenty of fruit and vegetables, but you still are not eating enough Parent Essential Oils to maintain good health. Sadly, even if you are eating as many vegetables and pieces of fruit as a person 60 years ago might have done, the amount of goodness your body is able to get from them is considerably less than the person who lived 60 years ago. The human body is roughly 80% water and 20% minerals. Maintaining our water and mineral content at optimal levels is therefore highly important for the correct functioning of our bodies. Our food is becoming depleted of minerals and essential oils however, so maintaining this important balance is more difficult. The lack of trace minerals, vitamins and Essential Fatty Acids including Parent Essential Oils, can lead to various medical problems and the suboptimal health of our bodies. I suspect that very many of us live our lives burdened by inferior health, caused by deficiencies in our diet. I further believe that many of us simply have no idea that our health is sub-optimal and could be vastly improved, and that the food we eat is nutritionally poor and in many respects quite toxic to us. Plants are able to absorb minerals and trace elements from the soil they grow in. As it is the case that food grown in soil depleted of trace minerals will have lower levels of trace minerals in it, so it follows that food grown on rich soils will have higher levels of minerals and trace elements. If we could be certain that our food is being grown in safe and rich soils, full of the goodness plants and animals need, we might be assured that we are receiving the nutrients we, in turn, need from our food. I certainly think that when people can, they should take as much care as possible over knowing where their food has been grown. In today’s society and with current food production methods this seems almost impossible however. Unfortunately a lot of the sources of Parent Essential Oils are already corrupted in such a way that the oils eaten are not in a form that are beneficial to our bodies. It is well known that Essential Fatty Acids can be obtained from fish and from fish oil. As a result, the fish oil supplementation industry has grown to be huge. Professor Peskin had done a lot of research on the effects of fish oil on arterial compliance and on health in general. Sadly there are several problems with trying to obtain Parent Essential Oils from fish oils. The first problem is that fish oils often contain very high amounts of Omega 3 oil compared to Omega 6. The second problem is that fish oils often contain very high levels of derivatives which our body makes anyway from the Parent Essential Oils. The third problem with fish oils is that fish have oil Š Copyright 2015 10 Things To Know Ltd
16
levels and derivative levels in such a balance to suit their bodies. Most fish live in very cold water. Human beings are warm blooded and therefore there is a fundamental difference between humans and fish. Fish oil suited the cold bodied fish but quickly go rancid in the human body. A fourth problem is that fish oils may contain concentrations of heavy metals and other pollutants which are sadly released into the seas by mankind. I do not recommend that we supplement from fish oils for the above reasons. If you look at a common fish oil supplement it will often come in a capsule containing 1,000 mg of fish oil. Often each capsule will contain over 500 times the physiologic amount of Omega 3 oil that is beneficial to our bodies. This high dose is in itself detrimental to the body. Fish oil also contains ultra high doses of derivatives, which can be detrimental to our body. When we eat fish, the fish are usually gutted and we don’t eat the livers. Years ago all of the fish guts and livers were not used directly in human foodstuffs. However an opening was seen, and an industry created, using some of the waste parts from fish. The livers in Cod, for instance, are very large and it was realised they contained oil. The Cod Liver Oil industry sprang up. Nevertheless we must not forget that human beings did not evolve eating deep sea cold water fish in large amounts. This is an artificial food source. I’m also concerned that the processing of oils in our foodstuffs, before we eat them, can be a health hazard for us. Oil and fat present in our food can be damaged by high-temperature cooking. The molecular structure of the oils and fats changes when they are heated. They can become what are known as ‘Trans Fats’. Our bodies recognise and can deal with a natural fat or natural oil but it cannot recognise a Trans Fat easily. Unfortunately, the end result is that because our body does not know how to handle the Trans Fat, it can’t process them as it would normal fat or oil. This can be a great hazard to the body. The nearer food is to its pure and natural state so the lower levels of Trans Fats are likely to be present in it. The more processed food is and the more the foodstuff contains man-made products, so generally the higher the likely level of Trans Fats the food will contain. Similarly, the less cooked the food is, so the less likely that any fats or oils in the food will be adulterated by the cooking process. The food would also not have been cooked in fats or oils which could themselves be partly Trans Fat! There is a strong case therefore to eat as much raw food as possible. Parent Essential Oils can be obtained from wholesome foods grown on fertile soil, from fish (although I recommend avoiding fish oil supplements) and © Copyright 2015 10 Things To Know Ltd

meat. Nevertheless it is increasingly difficult for us to know our food has been grown in these conditions. There is an increasing likelihood that our bodies are deficient in Parent Essential Oils. It is possible to obtain supplements of Parent Essential Oils from health rich sources and not from fish oils. My recommendation is that people supplement with Parent Essential Oils because of the likelihood of them having a deficiency and because of the huge benefits of ensuring that we have optimal levels of them in our bodies.

10 Things To Know Topic 3 What Do Parent Essential Oils Do? The art of healing comes from Nature, not from the Physician. Therefore the Physician must start from Nature, with an open mind. Paracelsus
Natural forces within us are the true healers of disease. Hippocrates
Good health in the body is all about maintaining correct balances. One of the balances we need to maintain is the balance between Omega 3 and Omega 6 Parent Essential Oils. It is similar in some ways to the balance of Cholesterol. We have all heard that there are ‘HDL’ and ‘LDL’ proteins in cholesterol. ‘HDL’ stands for High Density Lipid proteins and ‘LDL’ stands for Low Density Lipid proteins. HDL is sometimes known as the ‘good’ cholesterol and the LDL protein is sometimes known as the ‘bad’ cholesterol. The fact is both HDL and LDL proteins serve their role in the body. Maintaining a correct balance of them is the most important thing. Similarly maintaining a good balance of Omega 6 and Omega 3 oils is also essential. Sadly many of the sources of our food do not maintain this balance. An example of this is the artificially elevated levels of Omega 3 oil in fish oil supplements, as discussed above. Every cell in our bodies has a cell wall. The cell wall is made up roughly of 50% fat or lipids. The function of the cell wall is critical to the health and existence of the cell itself. The cell wall has to allow through oxygen and nutrients into the cell. It also has to allow carbon dioxide and waste products to pass out of the cell, and into the bloodstream, so that the body can ultimately excrete the waste products. If the cell wall does not function correctly, the cell itself cannot function correctly. It is therefore very important that the cell wall is maintained in good health and balance. One of the main roles of Essential Fatty Acids and Parent Essential Oils is to maintain optimal and healthy cell walls in each and every one of the cells in our body. This is a big job as we have trillions of cells which our body must maintain. Every cell in our body produces energy through using oxygen and © Copyright 2015 10 Things To Know Ltd
19
nutrients. The delivery of oxygen to each and every cell in our body at cellular level is very, very important. It is critical for our good health. Taking the example of arterial compliance (or stiffness), I can categorically state that in looking at the many, many hundreds of people that I have actually tested for arterial stiffness and who were then supplemented using healthy Parent Essential Oils, there has been an improvement in their arterial compliance. In other words the stiffness of their arteries has decreased. This is my own personal observation and experience, but I have years of experience looking at this. Every single person I have studied has benefited. All organs in the body are vital to the functioning of the body, but if we look at our brains, for example, they are comprised of Essential Fatty Acids, water, minerals and cholesterol all of which is maintained from our nutrition. By taking Parent Essential Oils we are feeding our brain with the nutrients that are essential to its healthy functioning. The same can be said for all of the other organs in a body, and indeed all of the cells in our body, for the reasons explained above. Without a healthy cell wall the cell cannot function properly. If cells in an organ are not functioning properly then that organ’s functioning itself will be impaired. That organ may be the brain, it may be the liver, kidneys, heart, skin or whatever. Parent Essential Oils do not target one particular organ but rather they are essential for the whole body and for every single cell. A person may go many years without developing a noticeable disease, but nevertheless be functioning sub optimally because the trillions of cells that make up that person’s body are not functioning at their best, because of poor quality cell walls affected by the ingestion of poor quality fats and nutrition, or insufficient Parent Essential Oils. The human body is actually very clever, as we, by and large, all manage to survive in a quite toxic environment, and our bodies generally manage to deal with this. Unfortunately there are toxins now in our food chain, in our water and in the air, and as we age our own immune systems begin to struggle to cope and to keep us healthy. People may manage to live into old age, but although people maybe living longer, they are getting older in a state of illness. A large reason is because their immune systems are being compromised by the toxicity of our environment and food. It is very important that anything we put into our body is free of toxins. As referred to above, sadly fish oils often have toxins concentrated in them and is another reason why we should steer clear of fish oils. It is also important that we ensure our bodies have optimum nutrition to help it in its constant battle to maintain our bodies in a healthy condition. Š Copyright 2015 10 Things To Know Ltd
20
There are further benefits to supplementing with Parent Essential Oils, (or at least ensuring our bodies have sufficient Parent Essential Oils), and this relates to preventing cancer. In the late 1920s to early 30s, Dr Otto Warburg won the Nobel prize. He had discovered that when cells of the body lost their ability to oxygenate by 35%, they would basically go into a survival mode, and that allowed sugar in a form of glucose to pass through the cell membrane into the cell. Every cell’s role is to produce energy and so by allowing water and glucose into the cell with not enough oxygen, a process of fermentation can occur. This is an alternative method of producing energy, but it is a very temporary method. If our cells exist in this oxygen starved state on a regular basis, or for a long time, it can severely affect the cell. We are all beings of frequency, and measurable electrical frequency specifically. Each cell in our body, (at least each healthy cell) should have a voltage like a battery measuring around 75 mV. A cancerous cell will often have a voltage that would have dropped to between 15 to 20 mV. This reduction changes the frequency of the cell wall. The frequency of the cell wall determines what is allowed to pass through the membrane of the cell wall and what is allowed to pass back out of the cell. When the voltage of the cell drops, oxygen cannot then enter into the cell. One of the main roles of Parent Essential Oils is that they assist the process of delivering oxygen at cellular level to all of our cells. I like to think of them as tiny oxygen magnets. It is essential that our cells are able to produce energy through burning oxygen. Healthy cells need oxygen. Cancerous cells do not like oxygen. If PEOs assist the delivery of oxygen to our cells, I believe this will help to prevent cells becoming anoxic and potentially cancerous.

10 Things To Know Topic 4 PEOs and the Cardiovascular System Health is the soul that animates all the enjoyments of life, which fade and are tasteless without it. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
Investing in health will produce enormous benefits. Gro Harlem Brundtland
The cardiovascular system is comprised of our Heart, Arteries, Capillaries and Veins, which carry blood all around our bodies. In the 17th Century a Physician called Thomas Sydenham coined the phrase “you are as old as your arteries”. I don’t believe there has ever been a truer statement. Generally speaking the stiffer a person’s arteries are, so the risk of sooner death increases. Arterial stiffness is a good indicator of predictive lifespan. As we age our arterial stiffness generally increases. It is imperative that we all try to maintain flexible arteries and veins, and healthy cardiovascular systems. We ignore this at our peril. A very important aspect of maintaining arterial compliance i.e. a state where arteries can stiffen and loosen as the body requires, is in fact not only maintaining good levels of Parent Essential Oils, but also water. Ensuring good hydration is very important to help us to maintain a healthy cardiovascular system. We should all be drinking several litres of clean water each day. Taking regular exercise, even if it is only a daily brisk walk, shall also help with keeping the cardiovascular system in good shape. One aspect I have noticed during my own investigations into arterial health is the often devastating effect that eating sugar has on the cardiovascular system. The negative effect of sugar on the body is not simply a matter of excess calories and putting on weight, (although these are massive problems), but is also linked with what happens to the sugar within the walls of our arteries. There is a process called Glycation which involves the cross-linking of protein molecules within the artery wall, which causes the arteries to stiffen. This particular effect is significantly aggravated by the
© Copyright 2015 10 Things To Know Ltd
22
intake of sugar. Artificial sweeteners also do not help, but sugar is the main culprit. To keep one’s cardiovascular system in good order, it is necessary therefore to drink plenty of water, exercise regularly, avoid sugar and artificial sweeteners, avoid Trans Fats wherever possible, and to supplement on good quality pure Parent Essential Oils. And there is hope! I have seen many, many instances where a person has had a test carried out to determine how stiff their arteries are. The test is called a Pulse Wave Velocity Test which involves an infrared probe being placed over the index finger. The probe is connected to a computer which runs a software program and this measures the speed of the blood flow from the heart to the fingertip and back again. The pressure wave of the blood pulse reveals a great deal about how stiff the arteries are. This is a marvellous test as it is entirely painless and not invasive, and does not hurt one bit. The test results are compared against a large database of subjects which have been tested previously, and the test subjects readings are then assigned an average ‘biological’ age. Sometimes people who are in good arterial shape have a biological age younger than their own actual chronological age. That is great news! They are clearly doing something good and they should keep up with it. Often however people test poorly, and their biological age is older than their chronological age. This means that their arteries are in the same condition as people typically older than them. This will usually mean that the test subject has a lifestyle and diet which is not doing them much good. They might not know anything about it or feel at all troubled. However, like a ticking time bomb inside them, trouble is building up. Sadly when it comes to heart health, we very often have no idea that problems are growing until something dramatic happens, such as a full-blown heart-attack. If everyone were to take this quick and easy test over the age of 18, I believe that there could be massive and significant improvements to the cardiovascular health for the population, if any warnings were heeded, and lifestyle changes were made. Of course not everybody is prepared to do that, and we make our own choices in life. For those of us that do want to know, and do want to look after ourselves better, there is a way. Generally very few people know about this test and I’m pleased to be able to publicise it.

10 Things To Know Topic 5 Parent Essential Oils and the Brain He who has health, has hope; and he who has hope, has everything. Thomas Carlyle
I made a commitment to completely cut out drinking and anything that might hamper me from getting my mind and body together. And the floodgates of goodness have opened upon me – spiritually and financially. Denzel Washington
The role of Parent Essential Oils in the brain is very great. The brain is made up predominantly of fat and water, and millions of electrochemical reactions and impulses occur in the brain. The brain is the nerve centre of the body and controls virtually everything we do. Even small problems with the brain can catastrophically affect people’s lives. Just as an athlete needs to keep their body in prime condition in order to perform at their best so the brain also needs good nutrition to help it to work correctly, and for good memory to be maintained. Fast, clear thinking processes are reliant upon the brain getting the things that it needs in order to function. Similarly, to lessen the chances of suffering diseases like Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s or Senile Dementia it is very, very important to understand the role of nutrients in the brain. Water is also extremely important for the brain. Apart from water, in my opinion, the number one supplementation that a person can take for maintaining optimal brain health, are Parent Essential Oils. I would stress that fish oils are not the best source of Omega 6 or Omega 3 oils for the reasons stated above, but also for another reason. In the brain the amount of Omega 6 oils compared to Omega 3 oils is in the region of 90 to 1. In other words there is roughly 90 times more Omega 6 oil in our brains compared to Omega 3. Fish oils usually contain far more Omega 3 oil in them than Omega 6, and so this is not the correct balance for the brain. This actually also applies to many other parts of the body. For example if we look at skin (which is the largest organ in our body) the ratio of Omega 6 to © Copyright 2015 10 Things To Know Ltd
24
Omega 3 is over 1000 to 1. The muscles in the body are roughly 25 to 1, and the brain 90 to 1. It is surprising therefore that we see in the adverts that Omega 3 is so much better for us. We need it for sure, but also Omega 6, and far better that they are provided in a correct balance for our bodies. If our individual cells of the brain are able to function at optimal levels (due to adequate Parent Essential Oils being present in the blood, through diet or supplementation) so we give our entire brain the very best chance it can have to also function properly and resist disease and degeneration. I personally believe that Parent Essential Oils can have a very big effect on improving brain function and resistance of the brain to developing disease and degeneration. I believe that many diseases affecting the brain can be prevented or slowed by adequate supplementation of Parent Essential Oils. It is my personal opinion that if a person is already developing signs of brain disease, prompt commencement of supplementation can only benefit them and certainly cannot harm them. I would be surprised if improvement and benefits were not seen.

10 Things To Know Topic 6 PEO’s and Inflammation, Arthritis & Rheumatism I think that age as a number is not nearly as important as health. You can be in poor health and be pretty miserable at 40 or 50. If you’re in good health, you can enjoy things in your 80s. Bob Barker
If you don’t think your anxiety, depression, sadness and stress impact your physical health, think again. All of these emotions trigger chemical reactions in your body, which can lead to inflammation, and a weakened immune system. Learn how to cope, sweet friend. There will always be dark days. Kris Carr
All disease in one way or another results in inflammation at the cellular level, and diseases are mainly about deficiency in the body. Ease the deficiency and likely the disease itself shall be eased, and the inflammation also. An example is the old story about the British sailors who went to sea centuries ago, and used to develop the disease ‘Scurvy’. Scurvy is inflammation which has outward signs of skin rashes and other symptoms. Once the Royal Navy’s Chief Surgeon realised that by giving sailors fruits and especially Limes, the Vitamin C content managed to get rid of scurvy. A deficiency of Vitamin C was the reason for the sailors developing Scurvy in the first place. This was likely very important for our Nation as it helped our sailors win the Battle of Trafalgar. The French and Spanish Navy had seaman who were suffering from scurvy and were probably weakened by it. Their combined forces were greater than the British forces in the battle but they lost. Admiral Nelson had an ally with the Chief Surgeon! His superb battle planning must have been helped by the improved fighting condition of his men. Another example relates to Vitamin D. Vitamin D is very important and years ago, deficiency of it used to cause a disease called Ricketts. Ricketts is © Copyright 2015 10 Things To Know Ltd

a bone disease. One way we have Vitamin D in our bodies is from converting sunlight on our skin into Vitamin D within our bodies. Vitamin D can also be obtained through our diet. Ricketts had gone away a generation or two ago, but is starting to come back. Quite possibly this is due to some children not playing outside in the sunshine as much as they used to, but rather being stuck indoors playing on their computers. Their skin does not receive as much sunlight, and they have a deficiency of vitamin D in their body. Also, people with darker skins need more sunlight to make Vitamin D in their skin, and sadly the climate in the UK is often not so sunny! It is possible to go through a list of diseases and to realise the deficiencies that caused the diseases are due to the diet lacking some essential nutrient or other. The same applies with Parent Essential Oils. If we do not have enough of them, over a period of time, we are likely to suffer a whole range of health issues. A deficiency of Parent Essential Oils can develop into various diseases, and one of the consequences of such disease is Inflammation, which is a major factor in all disease in the body. Arthritis and Rheumatism are types of inflammation of the joints. Anyone suffering from either condition is likely to benefit from ensuring that their Parent Essential Oil levels in their diets are maintained. Generally people are so lacking in Essential Fatty Acids that when people commenced taking supplements of Parent Essential Oils their bodies responded very, very quickly once they start receiving the correct nutrients. Different people are at different stages of developing inflammatory diseases such as Rheumatism and Arthritis, but I believe everybody would benefit from supplementing on PEOs. I have seen people benefit from supplementing with PEOs many times. A personal story illustrates this. A few years back I met a friend who I had not seen for the previous 30 years or so. We played golf together and we got around to the 14th hole whereupon my friend couldn’t physically walk. He used to be a footballer and he was going to have an operation on both his knee cartilages and he was in a really bad way. To cut a long story short, I gave this friend of mine (whose name is Tony) some Parent Essential Oils and I told him to try them. He was sceptical and asked if they would help. I said “you don’t know if you don’t try”. That was nearly 4 years ago. Tony started supplementing on Parent Essential Oils. The benefits he received from supplementing on Parent Essential Oils were quite staggering. Tony now plays 2 to 3 rounds of golf each week and in fact has done very well at it. The downside of which is that he beats me at golf now! However he has no pain in his knees and has had no pain for the last three years. Quite staggeringly he also did not need to have the operation on his cartilages.

10 Things To Know Topic 7 PEOs and Diabetes I believe that the greatest gift you can give your family and the world, is a healthy you. Joyce Meyer
Looking after my health today gives me a better hope for tomorrow. Anne Wilson Schaef
It goes without saying that the prevention of all disease, including Diabetes, really is the name of the game, and is very important. ‘Prevention is better than cure’ as the old saying goes. Sadly, we humans often have the attitude which means most people wait until they are ill before they take any action, and then of course they usually go to their Doctor and might end up with a prescription for one medicine or another. I believe that we have to be very aware of prescription medicines nowadays, because often the body doesn’t always respond in a way that is hoped. Prescription medicines might tend to cover up the symptom that they were prescribed for, but what they may not do, is address the underlying health issue, which was the root cause of the disease. The disease caused the symptom. If the symptom is treated and goes away, does that always mean the underlying disease has? An example of this concerns the subject of the quite common complaint of high blood pressure. I would mention that the body raises and lowers blood pressure throughout the day depending upon all the various influences that are affecting the body. Of course stress is very important, as is exercise. In either situation a person’s blood pressure will rise because their brain or muscles need more oxygen, and so the body increases the blood pressure in order to deliver more oxygen to whatever needs it in the body. If we take a blood pressure tablet to lower the blood pressure, then we are actually artificially affecting something that nature has deemed necessary i.e. we are artificially forcing the blood pressure lower, despite the fact the body has identified that the blood pressure should be higher because of some other reason. The problem is that the blood pressure tablet might not address the underlying issue, which has caused the high blood pressure in the first place.

A shortage of Magnesium in the body is a common reason for high blood pressure. If a person suffering high blood pressure due to a shortage of Magnesium begins to take blood pressure tablets, the tablets might do nothing to address the body’s shortage of Magnesium, but simply lower the blood pressure. If the body had raised blood pressure for a good reason, it might not help the body to have it artificially lowered. Far better that the underlying cause of high blood pressure is tackled head-on and removed. If the underlying cause of high blood pressure is removed then the blood pressure should naturally lower to safe levels. Diabetes is increasingly a very major problem in today’s society. A big reason for this is because of our consumption of sugar, levels of which have gone through the roof. Sugar seems to be in just about everything that we look at. It is very important to read food labelling and gather as much information as you can so you can avoid sugar wherever possible. One of the very interesting aspects of Parent Essential Oils is that they allay your craving for sugar and carbohydrates. ‘Carbohydrate’ is really a fancy name for sugar because carbohydrates turn into sugar when you eat them (as does alcohol). We often have to look at lifestyles, in order to prevent diseases like Type 2 or ‘late onset’ diabetes. A diet with fruit and vegetables, preferably organic for nutritional reasons explained above, is very important. Having said that, I do not believe that fruit is so important in our diet, as fruit contains high levels of sugars. If we eat fruit in an unnatural form, it can cause problems. For example, fruit juice contains a lot of sugar. We think it must be very healthy, and yet a carton of fruit juice is often packed with sugar. A moderate amount of fruit is all that is required, and perhaps just one piece or item of fruit a day in my opinion. Our main focus should be on vegetables, particularly green vegetables. One of the other issues that we have in today’s society, is that we generally eat food later in the evening or at night, and food is predominately cooked. When we cook food we are actually destroying the enzymatic properties that the food naturally has. Enzymes are essential in our body. If we destroy the enzymes in our food by cooking them, it reduces the healthful qualities of our food. We should therefore try to change the ratio of cooked food to raw food that we are eating. There are lots of recipes and books that we can obtain on raw food recipes. It is difficult, but it can be done, and with a little bit of willpower great benefits to our bodies can be achieved. I also recommend that we juice vegetables. A routine of juicing vegetables in the morning, and supplementing with Parent Essential Oils every day, could have huge benefits to a person. © Copyright 2015 10 Things To Know Ltd

Parent Essential Oils reduce the cravings for sugary foods, and cutting down on sugary foods should help us to lose weight. I have seen very many incidences of people who were developing or had developed diabetes, who saw benefits to their condition after they began changing their lifestyle and supplementing on Parent Essential Oils. My message to people is that even if you are suffering from Type 2 diabetes, it is not too late. Your condition can be improved. There was a study conducted at Regent’s Park Zoo. Thirty men and women who each had developed a degree of diabetes, stayed at Regent’s Park Zoo for one month for this medical study. The people were fed the same food that the monkeys and apes are given, which consisted of raw fruit and vegetables. By the end of the month none of the thirty people were suffering from diabetes. Of course this is an extreme example but it just goes to show how important our diet is. We ignore this at our peril.

10 Things To Know Topic 8 How PEOs can help fight Obesity It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society. Jiddu Krishnamurti
Without health, life is not life; it is only a state of languor and suffering – an image of death. Buddha
Nowadays excess weight is a serious problem, especially for people in the developed Western world. I could spend easily a couple of hours talking about the implications of too much fat in our bodies. I can recommend readers watch a film which is called Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead. It is not a very nice title. It can be watched on YouTube. Despite the title it is an absolutely fascinating film and very inspiring. It is especially relevant in today’s society, and I believe reinforces the message in this book. I have recommended the film to hundreds of people and without exception, they come back to me and said it was an amazing film. I will not give away the storyline of the film, it is actually a documentary, but it is factual and I think people will learn a tremendous amount by watching the film. It boils down to diet. We need to understand how our body works, and what it requires to work efficiently, and to try not to build up excess fat in our bodies. An entire education process is needed and it should commence, I believe, at Primary School level. For example when I was a child, I lived in Australia. I used to drink Coca-Cola, I used to eat sweets, cakes and everything that children have enjoyed. The thing was 60 years ago or so, there were fewer sweets and cakes, and children seemed to exercise more. Giving children sweets, cakes and fizzy drinks is simply not the best thing to do. As an occasional treat maybe, but these items are no longer ‘treats’ but more the standard foodstuffs we give children. Far better it will be to give children an apple or a carrot as a snack. If the children were given them at a young age they would know no different. If we brought children up in that © Copyright 2015 10 Things To Know Ltd

manner, then their chances of developing disease would be lessened considerably, and good habits for later in life are reinforced. Toxins in our body are often stored in our fat reserves. This is another good reason why excess fat should be avoided or eliminated. Exercise is hugely important of course. Sometimes, however, it is very difficult for people to exercise, especially if they have already reached a heavy weight. For such people exercising is not easy, but even by going for a brisk walk on a daily basis for 20 minutes, it would help a great deal in order to start to eliminate some fat. Drinking plenty of water is also vital, as this helps to rid the toxins from decreasing fat reserves. Proper hydration is once again essential. Parent Essential Oils themselves can also help immensely with maintaining a healthy body weight. PEOs help a person to eliminate the cravings for sweets and carbohydrates, which is a great help. It can prevent people overeating, or at least help them to eat less. A number of the people I have worked with have told me of their weight loss since supplementing their diet with PEO supplements, and it has been very exciting to see people lose weight in this way. So how can PEO’s help people eat less? Simply put, if our bodies are not given the correct nutrition, our bodies know they are deficient, and maintain a feeling of hunger in the hope that they will be given the correct nutrition. It is not the quantity we need, but the quality. Many of the fast foods or the processed foods that we eat simply do not have the nutrients in it that our bodies require. The net result is that within a short while of eating the fast foods or processed foods, our body remains hungry. Hungry for the correct nutrients it needs. Our body may have received many calories (and usually of the wrong sort), but it hasn’t received the actual nutrition that it requires, and until the body receives the nutrition it needs, it will crave the nutrition it is short of, and will continue to trigger the hunger feeling. To combat this people have developed a habit of snacking, to try and quell the hunger pangs. This is a further bad habit, and doesn’t address the underlying cause of the feeling of hunger. It seems to be the case that whenever a person who is grossly overweight and morbidly obese is asked why they simply do not stop eating, they always answer that they cannot stop eating and that they always feel hungry. Usually the foods that they eat are either heavily processed, or fast foods, such as pizza or deep-fried chicken dripping with heavily adulterated oils. Despite the sheer amount of food eaten by them, the nutritional value is so low that their bodies are simply telling them that they have not had what they need. I can quite understand why the obese person says they still © Copyright 2015 10 Things To Know Ltd

feel hungry. They are actually still hungry; just not in the way we might think. Such people may often have not eaten a truly nutritional meal for a long time and their body is actually craving good food. Mistakenly they think it is simply craving any food, but it is not, it is craving good nutritional food. By supplementing on PEOs I firmly believe that such people could be helped tremendously. In the meantime for people with less of a health and weight problem supplementing with PEOs can still be a significant help. As I said above, prevention is far better than cure. When we supplement with Parent Essential Oils our bodies actually receive many of the important nutrients that it requires, and the feeling of hunger and the feeling of needing to snack, greatly reduces. This means that we eat far fewer calories and can go through the day eating less and feeling satisfied. Just a packet of crisps a day can add thousands of calories to our diet over a year, which converts to a pound or two of fat. Year-on-year this can make a difference to us. As humans we assume that we shall get heavier and fatter as we get older, but it does not have to be that way! It is better for us if this constant and seemingly relentless weight gain doesn’t happen. PEOs provide a natural way to quell our hunger pangs, and help us in our fight to stay healthy and at a healthy weight.

10 Things To Know Topic 9 Parent Essential Oils and Beauty A healthy outside starts from the inside. Robert Urich
I do not think about being beautiful. What I devote most of my time to is being healthy. Ann Bancroft
Parent Essential Oils are needed by the body for proper functioning in every part of the body. One noticeable side-effect of supplementing with PEOs, or ensuring that the diet is fully sufficient in PEOs, relates to that of beauty. It is rather ironic that some people spend many hundreds, or even thousands, of pounds a year on beauty products, while spending far less on good quality organic foods and supplementing with PEOs. Doing the latter would make them naturally far more beautiful and healthy looking. Maintaining adequate amounts of Parent Essential Oils in our body has huge benefits for our skin, for our hair, for avoiding cellulite, eczema and other conditions which we consider unsightly. Once again I would point out that the ratio of Omega 6 to Omega 3 oils in the skin is roughly 1,000 to 1. This is a big reason why supplements high in Omega 3 simply won’t do the full trick. I am 67 years of age yet I don’t have many wrinkles, my eyes are quite bright which is a good sign, my hair is thick and is not thinning, and all this is down to the Parent Essential Oils that I ensure that I have on a daily basis. In addition, I feel that I have bags of energy every day, because of the amount of oxygen that is being delivered to my cells at a cellular level. If you want thick hair, if you want bright eyes, if you want clear skin, I thoroughly recommend you drink lots of water and supplement with Parent Essential Oils. They are very, very good for that. Once again industry has dictated that make-ups must be used, not only for women but now also for men. I think it is virtually all about money. Can we really address the issue of clear skin, good eyesight, bright eyes, good hair and nails just from the outside? I don’t think we can. The best way is to © Copyright 2015 10 Things To Know Ltd

address these from the inside. If the body is provided with the correct nutrients it will look after itself in the best way possible. There is a further problem with wearing lots of make up, apart from the sheer cost of it. Years ago people believed that skin was an effective barrier which kept everything out of our body. We now know that that is not the case. Skin is a little like blotting paper, and it can absorb substances that we put on the outside of our skin. We have to be quite careful about what chemicals we are applying to our skin, because some of the constituent chemicals in the make up, or in our antiperspirants or deodorants, might be getting absorbed into our bodies. The fewer artificial products and chemicals we apply to our skin, so the better for us. It is far better to have as much natural beauty as our genes allow, by correct nutrition and diet, rather than by trying to get the beauty out of a bottle. A good example of how we can absorb substances through our skin arises if we have a massage. Massage oils can easily be absorbed through the skin and into the bloodstream. Magnesium oil is another example. Magnesium has hundreds of metabolic actions in the body and many people are deficient of it. High blood pressure is often a symptom of a deficiency in Magnesium in the body, as stated above. Magnesium can be absorbed through the skin if a higher Magnesium cream is applied to the skin.

PEOs and increased Athletic Performance
The way you think, the way you behave, the way you eat, can influence your life by 30 to 50 years. Deepak Chopra
We all know that nowadays an excellent diet helps with increased athletic performance. The days of footballers having steak and chips and hour or two before their match have long gone. What is not fully appreciated yet, even in many athletic circles, is that Parent Essential Oils themselves have a very beneficial effect on athletic performance and endurance. I have worked with all sorts of athletes who have supplemented on Parent Essential Oils, and who have experienced vast improvements in their athletic ability. We must remember that Parent Essential Oils should be present in good food, and that the oils themselves are a food, and not a drug. Even by supplementing on capsules of Parent Essential Oils to ensure optimal dosage of them in our bodies, we are not taking drugs. Such supplements will not affect any banned drugs or substance list. They are a food source and very natural. Supplementing with PEOs is not about artificially enhancing an athlete’s body, but rather ensuring peak performance through natural means and natural foods. Some of the athletes who I have worked within the past include the Laverty family from Ireland. I have helped the three Laverty brothers, all of whom are world-class Superbike racers, and they have been taking Parent Essential Oil supplements for the past several years. John Laverty had a major accident and broke a lot of bones. He was in hospital for quite some time, but he firmly believes that if he hadn’t supplemented with PEOs his recovery would have taken a lot longer. Each ensure they take their Parent Essential Oil supplements before every race to maximise their physical abilities. So why should PEOs help athletes and their athletic performance? Much has got to do with the fact that PEOs assist with the uptake of oxygen by our cells on a cellular level. Athletic performance invariably will lead to an increased usage of oxygen by the athlete’s muscles, body and brain. PEOs help the body to ensure that optimal levels of oxygen can enter the cells and feed the energy producing parts of the cell called the Mitochondria. Athletic © Copyright 2015 10 Things To Know Ltd
36
performance and endurance can be enhanced and improved perhaps half an hour after supplementing on PEOs, and the increase in performance is measurable. Once again however I would repeat that PEOs are not a drug. They are a food.
