SITE AREA 78 acres
PROJECT DATE
November 2021
APPLICATIONS USED
Rhino, Grasshopper, Photoshop, Indesign
Through explorations of various media like physical and digital modeling, research on current developments and a mode of adaptive/reuse site, this project aimed at envisioning a future for Atlanta in 2049 as defined by architecture. The first part of the project required us to create a hypothetical masterplan for ten soccer fields to serve as the World cup 2026 training fields by utilizing the urban footprint of Hulsey Yard that ran six miles linearly.
Can an urban hydropnic farm bring the community togehter?

The effects of climate change are painstakingly seen around the globe, making it convincing that more and more towns may sink underwater even before we know it! Does this global dissolution pave way for an interdependent relationship between nature and the built environment or does it lead us (humans) to a dark-dead end?
Are we heading towards twirling through a drowning world? 20

The 172-key new construction hotel and attached Convention Center were designed as a team which I led as a Senioe Interior Designer/Project Manager. While following brand guidelines from IHG, the design of this fully customized hotel & convention was inspired mainly by migrating cranes of the region than visit Kearney in flocks of thousands each year. The hotel recently opened for guests and is meant to provide an upscale experience for its business and family clientele.

With the intention of preserving the handicraft industry of India and to redefine products that are made out of folk crafts, the project takes shape with primary and secondary researches and intervening with newer more sustainable design solutions that were intented to cater the urban tastes. New designs were prototyped by working with local artisans of Channapatna who specialize in lac-turnery craft. The project aimed at increasing urban demand such that it increases employment opportunities of the skilled artisans by preserving the traditional crafts.
Can design intervention preserve the dying handicrafts of India? At which scale will the intervention produce results?

Lac-turnery also known as Indian lacquering, is a craft where wood from hale tree (Wrightiatinctoria or Ivory tree) is turned on a lathe (hand or power) and chiseled with hands to form various products, traditionally toys. A hardened strip of lacquer mixed with pigments is then used to color the wooden products. The heat generated by rotation of the lathe converts the solid lac into a liquid form which in turn colors the wood. For adding a permanent lustre, the laquer is rubbed with a leaf of thatch screw pine tree dipped in groundnut oil while the object continues to rotate on the lathe.
