A few hardworking people of the group contributed much. Among them are J.C.R. Licklider and Lawrence Roberts. Much credit and recognition should be bestowed to J.C.R. Licklider. Licklider is none other than the head of the Information Processing Technology Office of the group. The invention actually started with a great idea of Licklider, which was to unify people through a universal network. But to implement the idea, Licklider had to recruit other people who were highly adept and knowledgeable in actual computer programming. Lawrence Roberts, on the other hand, was the person who had the chance to lead the ARPA team. Roberts is known to utilize the creation of Leonard Kleinrock. This was merely a
proposed method by Kleinrock using packet switching in the successful transfer of pertinent data. Amidst great success, Roberts had chosen to quit working in 1973 with the team who invented the Internet. Vinton Cerf and Robert Kahn were the people who took Robert’s position, and worked with the modifications of the packet switching.
