CONTEXTUTAL STUDY
THE CHARMINAR PEDESTRINISATION PROJECT INNITIATED IN 2000 WAS LAID AS REASON TO DEVELOP THE ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL STATUS OF THE AREA.THE ANCIENT CITY WAS MADE BY QUTUB SHAHI TO BRING TOGETHER A SET OF PEOPLE WHERE ACTIVITIES COULD TAKE PLACE WITH EASE AT ONE PLACE ALSO IN PROTECTION OF THE KING’S PALACE.
MODE OF TRANSPORT
DOWN THE YEARS THE PLACE TURNED INTO A CLAUSTROPHOBIC MARKET AND HYDERABAD’S ICON-THE CHARMINAR BEGAN TO LOOSE ITS CHARM AND THE ECONOMIC STATUS AROUND THE AREA BEAGN TO FALL DUE TO INCREASING POPULATIONS PROBLEMS AND LACK OF AMENITIES AS PER GOVT PROPOSAL THERE WERE MANY PARKING ,EATRIES AND SHOPPING ZONES DESIGNED WHICH NEVER TURNED INTO REALITY AS THE LOCAL INTEREST WERE NOT LOOKED INTO CAREFULLY.
ISSUES AND TRENDS
THE THESIS WAS AN ATTEMPT TO FIND OUT THE INTERESTS OF THE PEOPLE LOCAL AND NATIONAL AND AN ATTEMPT TO REVITALISE THE SPACE TO BRING SHOT RISE IN THE ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL STATUSOF THE PEOPLE. IT ALSO FOCUSED ON THE LOCAL SENTIMENTS TO REVIVE THE OLD CULTURAL VALUE BRINGING IN NEW FLAVOUR CU TO MAKE IT A COMFORTABE ENVIRONMENT FOR TOURISTS WHICH CONTRIBUTE LARGELY TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THEE PLACE.

PROPOSED SITE FOR PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE PROVISIONS DEVELOPMENT
CONCENTRATION OF ALL ACTIVITIES AROUND THE MONUMENT AFFECTS THE IMPORTANCE OF THE MONUMENT IN MERE SENSE. HERITAGE VALUE HAS GONE DOWN DUE TO EXCESSIVE POPULATION,UNCONTROLLABLE HAWKER ZONESAND LACK OF PUBLIC INFRASRTUCTURE FOR TOURISTS. PROPOSED SITE FOR DEVELOPEMENT -200m AWAY FROM CHARMINAR
CHARMINAR BEING THE FOCAL POINT

EARLIER BEING USED AS A LOCAL BUS STOP AND CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE MONUMENT AND PARALLEL HEAVY TRAFFIC ROADS MAKES IT A VIABLE PICK UP POINT FOR ANYONE. UNPLEASANT ELEVATIONS (HOARDINGS) MAKE IT A RISKY AFFAIR TO DESIGN COMPLETELY IN TUNE WITH LOCAL ARCHITECTURE
LARGE FRONTAGE AKES IT EASIER FOR PEDESTRAIN AND VEHICULAR MOVEMENT THROUGHOUT THE SITE
CLAUSTROPHOBIC FEEL FROM SURROUNDINGS. THEREFORE OPENINGS IN PROPOSED DESIGN WOULD HAVE TO BE THOUGHT CAREULLY CAREUL
HAWKERS EAT INTO THE SPACE OF THE SITE CURRENTLY MAKING IT TOUGH TO NAVIGATE.DEDICATED SPACE TO BE ALOTTED FOR HAWKER ZONES TO AVOID ANY ENCROACHMENT.
DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

THE THIRD CONCEPT WAS FINALLY SELECTED WHERE LINEAR SHAFTS WERE USED TO BRING IN VENTILATION KEEPING IN MIND ALL SETBACK AND BUILDER’S EXPECTATIONS
THE ABOVE CONCEPT WAS REJECTED AS THE STRUCTURAL SYSTEM WOULD HAVE REQUIRED A WIDER PAN ABOVE LEADING THE BUILDING TO ANCROACH IN THE SETBACKS THE DESIGN WAS FUTHER WORKED OUT TO PROVIDE THE EXACT AREAS PLANNED TO BE GIVEN TO THE EXISTING OWNERS. AFTER THE SIZES WERE FIXED BALCONIES WERE WORKED OUT KEEPING IN MIND VENTILATION AND PRIVACY ISSUES

THE SECOND CONCEPT WAS DERVIED FROM THE WARLI ART NATIVE TO MAHARAHTRA . THE CONCEPT FOLLOWS A PHILIOSOPHY OF SUSTAINABLE BUILT ENVIRONMENT. THE WARLI DEPICT HUMAN ACTIVITIES IN THE PUREST FORM THE INTERNAL CONCEPT WOULD BE DESGNED TO PROMOTE SOCIAL RELATIONS

NERUL, NAVI UMBAI 2013
THE THIRD CONCEPT WAS A LOT BASED ON WIND FLOW. THE IDEA WAS TO CATCH THE WINDS WHICH FLOW ALONG THE HORIZONTAL AXIS OF THE BUILDING. THE FREE FLOWING FORM WAS A NEW APPROACH TO CONTEMPORARY DESIGN.THE IDEA WAS TO BREAK THE REGULARITY OF THE SKYLINE OF NERUL. THE FLAW IN THIS CONCEPT ARRIVED DUE TO INCREASED NO. OF CONSTRAINTS OF SETBACKS AND HEIGHT RESTRICTIONS.

-THE UNIVERSITY POSED A CHALLENGE TO THE STUDENTS OF ARCHITECTURE TO SHOWCASE THEIR CREATIVE SKILLS IN PLANNING THIS BEAUTIFUL CAMPUS AND PROPOSING SPACES AS PER THE NEED OF THE STUDENTS.THE DESIGN OF MIT CAMPUS, MANIPAL EVOLVED AS PER REQUIREMENT WHICH FOLLOWED THE DEVELOPMET OF THE CAMPUS FROM THE 1950’S. BLOCKS WERE DESIGNED ACCORDING TO INCREASING CAPACITY OF STUDENTS.
EXISTING SCENARIO THE AREA IS LOCATED AT THE MIT CAMPUS IN MANIPAL WHERE A MIXED USE OF LAND IS OBSERVED,NETWORKS TRANSVERSING ACADEMIC,RESIDENTIAL AND OTHER BUILDINGS ARE LARGELY ACCESSED BY WALKING
THE PROPOSED WALKWAY CONNECTS ALL ENTITIES IN THECAMPUS WTH THE REQUIREMENTS BASED ON PEDESTRIAN FLOW RATES
THE CAMPUS IS LAID ACROSS NORTH AND SOUTH AXS WITH ACADEMIC QUARTERSS IN THE NORTH AND RESIDENTIAL IN DOWN SOUTH. THIS MAKES STUDENT CHARACTER WALKING TIME SPECIFIC
