Technical Information & Mosaic Index

Technical Information Lead Times Encore lead times are typically 2-4 weeks. Large orders may take longer. Mosaics may take an additional 1-2 weeks due to the additional steps that go into assembling them. The ‘Target Ship Date’ is a goal we try hard to meet or beat. Although 98% of our orders go out on time, there are no guarantees in handcrafted ceramic manufacturing. Returns & Cancellations There are NO CANCELLATIONS after 24 hours. If you do need to place an add-on order, make sure that you reference your original PO number. Because everything you order is made custom for you, there are NO RETURNS. Applications Encore Ceramics are vitreous and frost resistant. They are suitable for indoor & outdoor applications, areas that experience freeze/thaw conditions, water applications (pools, saunas, steam rooms, fountains & showers) fireplaces & light duty floors. Residential & Commercial use are acceptable. Variation Encore Ceramics are custom handmade tiles. Due to the multiple glaze application process SHADE VARIATION is to be expected and appreciated. Some blue to purple clouding can be present in or near the jewel cavities and on the relief area. We refer to this reaction as ‘PARTY IN THE KILN’. The ‘PARTY’ makes it impossible for us to know how much or how many hues will occur on each piece of tile. Glaze colors may appear darker or lighter according to cavity size.

Variation cont. The Precocious Palette can take an opalescent quality; not all pieces will have it but it can be expected in the natural variation. ANY AND ALL RANGE CAN BE EXPECTED, so it is important that you take great care in blending the product prior to installation. Installation, Sealing and Maintenance Although Encore’s glazes and body are impervious to moisture, we still recommend sealing your tile to increase its longevity and ease of installation. SEALING IS CRITICAL FOR CRACKLE GLAZES - otherwise lines will potentially stain. Also, sealing matte finishes can be helpful in removing latex marks or stains, as the sealant fills tiny pores that may otherwise trap discoloring material. For everyday cleaning we recommend a neutral pH cleaner that removes dirt and soil buildup from tile such as mild non-acidic and non-abrasive soap. Mosaic Installation, Sealing and Maintenance We paper back our mosaic patterns. Patterns are available with a mesh back upon request. GREEN FROM THE GROUND UP Before (and after) green became cool, our sustainable manufacturing is still making waves.

SAVING ENERGY

Solar panels keep us on the bright side of energy use. Our solar array is one of the top 10 largest in the Northwest. With 176 sharp 165 watt solar panels on our roof, we generate 35 Megawatt hours annually. This saves over 70,000 lbs of CO2 emissions every year!

PUSHING PHYSICS TO THE MAX

Sustainable by design - beauty without sacrifice. We push physics to the max to be green. Our single-fire process saves 40% of the energy typically used to make tile. This is tough to do by any measure, but the gorgeous glaze and style effects in our collections make this an incredible feat. Our specialty kiln shelves save another 15% electricity,

CUTTING RAW WASTE COMPLETELY

Engineered efficiency, way beyond a little recycling. ALL raw waste is captured in our unusual production process. We’ve custom-designed extra steps to collect all waste clay, glaze, and water, and recycle it, until it leaves the building as a finished tile.

SAVING WATER

The river that we make our tile on is pristine, and we make sure it stays that way. No waste water, no kidding. :: It’s not enough to follow the laws, when they allow raw minerals down the drain. Our tile factory is the first we’ve ever seen to capture and distill all production waste water - without a single floor drain. Dramatically reduced water footprint. :: Making tile is usually a water intensive business. By designing our own clay body, glazes, and custom water recycling processes, we save almost almost half the water consumed in standard tile manufacturing - more than 40,000 gallons of water a year.
