Between rock and earth, all weathered by time, the golden sun still shone. Climbing to the tops of mountains and back where we began. Lost, but always hopeful, of discovering all we can. In a rocky labyrinth we hear their songs. The spirit creatures, our guides. We long for Eden and escape to there, To bathe and swim and hide. In a canyon so dark, it echoes our souls. And here we learn all that’s real, all that’s true and whole. It’s beauty in simplicity, a place so wild and free. It’s everything we take for granted, All we fail to see. For days our footsteps map the earth, scaling high and low, And things are strange to us no more, This land is all we know. And here we are, amongst the mystics, in a fable far greater than us. To those who walked this soil before, who braved a wide red land, To we who chose to follow them, Our names etched in the sand.
