Intercollegiate Basic Surgical Skills Course (iBSS Course) in Dubai In Collaboration with
OBJECTIVES
VENUE
This 3-day technical teaching course is led by a group of RCSI’s International Faculty. Targeted at trainees in the earliest stage of Surgical Training, the course aims to provide participants with instruction and experience in basic techniques for all types of surgery.
The iBSS Course will be held in Dubai for the first time on the 20th, 21st and 22nd of January 2016. The course will take place in the Khlalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Medical Simuation Centre (KHMSC) in the Mohammed Bin Rashid Academic Medical Centre (MBR-AMC).
CONTENT The emphasis of the course is on: Basic knot tying techniques, suturing techniques, percutaneous biopsies, gastrointestinal/vascular anastomosis, repair of nerve and tendons, and introduction to safe laparoscopy.
The Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Medical Simulation Centre provides hands on clinical simulation training. Spread over 30000 sq. ft., it is the first comprehensive training facility of its kind located within the Mohammad Bin Rashid Academic Medical Center.
OUTCOME Successful candidates receive an RCSI iBSS certificate on completion of the course. CME credits are awarded for this event by the Center for Healthcare Planning and Quality (CPQ), at Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC).
