Palm House Restaurant Review

THE PALM HOUSE

The Palm House Restaurant offers a fabulous new dining experience in Surrey. Interior-designed with an Art Deco and upmarket brasserie feel, The Palm House is the perfect place for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea or dinner. Make a day of it and combine your visit with a shopping trip to the onsite lifestyle store, the Packhouse – famed for its vintage, antique and one-off buys for the home. The stunning new Palm House menu is wide and varied and caters for everyone with gourmet burgers, steaks, fish, salads and specials.

To complement the restaurant offering there is also a cute log cabin café and takeaway, The Hive, where you can enjoy tea, coffee, soft drinks, toasties, cakes and snacks.

OUR EXPERIENCE

On arrival at The Palm House, we were greeted by our friendly waitress and shown to our seats. What strikes you as you soon as you walk into the restaurant is interior design heaven. The abundance of palm trees makes for a tropical haven coupled with quirky pieces such as bird cages and a copper and stainless steel hanging swing seat makes you appreciate the Art Deco interior and finishing touches which definitely add a superior touch of class to this establishment. We had already seen the delightful cocktails on social media and knew we had to try. Our waitress recommended the Palm House Gin Cocktail which was light and refreshing with the gin perfectly offsetting the sweetness of the traditional lemonade. We also chose the Espresso Martini which was

finished off with a cream top and decorated with a trio of coffee beans. Next up was ordering our food. The innovative and well thought out menu is available all day. Afternoon tea is also on offer with advance booking. For our testers we went for the Salmon, Crushed New Potato with Lemon Butter Sauce which was delicious. The salmon was pan fried to perfection with a crispy sesame crust – the mixtures of textures in this dish was superb and the crunchy crust tasted fabulous against the softness of the salmon fillet itself – which literally flaked away on the lightest touch of the fork. The lemon butter and new potato accompaniments made this a really healthy and light dish – yet packed full of flavour. We also went for the Flat Iron Chicken with Oregano, which was a pan fried boneless half chicken with delicious homemade gravy coated in crispy oregano. The chicken was succulent and a generous portion size while the gravy and oregano made this dish so flavoursome – our tastebuds were literally exploding. We ordered a side of tender stem broccoli and almonds to go with which was cooked al dente with just the right amount of bite.

All in all, an amazing experience; the service, décor, food and drinks were superb. We can’t wait to come back and sample more from this exquisite brasserie style menu by Head Chef Nico Scarsini and the afternoon tea is an absolute must next time!

The Deluxe and Summerhouse pods are complete with WiFi, heating and lighting for a novel dining experience. All bookings require a £50 deposit and a minimum spend of £100.
