A relaxed, fun group where moms and their babies or toddlers enjoy music and movement together!

Making “work-from-home” work! I consider myself a full-time mom. When my now eight-year old daughter was born, I left the corporate rat race and have been a stay-at-home mom ever since. However, as is the case for many women, I’ve also always needed to top up our household earnings. When my son was 18 months old, my part-time contract work finished at a local advertising agency. I desperately wanted the flexibility of working from home, but it was so difficult to find a job that fitted around my children and earned me a reasonable income for the hours worked. In 2008, Wriggle and Rhyme was “born”. It was a natural synergy of my marketing and musical training. Little did I know then of the exciting and fulfilling journey that was to follow! Starting with one class from my home in Fish Hoek, the business has grown exponentially in both size and profile, with numerous branches across Cape Town. The Wriggle and Rhyme Music and Movement Programme has been written and produced locally. Like me, it’s proudly South African! It has been very well received by the hundreds of moms and children who have attended classes to date. I now have three children, and Wriggle and Rhyme has become a part of our family! My kids love the music and are as excited about the programme as I am. I work around them, which means that I’m at home full-time. It’s challenging at times, but the benefits of being my own boss, contributing to the household income and also being at home with my kids, have been phenomenal! The Wriggle and Rhyme Product Package is now available to License, as a work-from-home Business Opportunity. I want to allow other women to take this proven business model and turn it into their personal success story! For more information, please check out www.wriggleandrhyme.co.za or e-mail Kirsty Savides at info@wriggleandrhyme.co.za

FUN FAMILY WITHOUT SPENDING

ACTIVITIES TO DO TONS OF MONEY

By Claire Marketos

“Tis the season to be jolly.” “Bah humbug,” you may say as you deal with the fallout of an economic recession. Unemployment and financial pressure leave you unable to give your children the gifts they desire and feeling disillusioned about the holiday season, succumbing to depression seems to be the only option.

Camp out in the garden, playroom or den. Pitch the tents, switch off the lights and tell campfire stories by torch light or firelight. Make dough from flour and water; shape it into decorations for the Christmas tree or ornaments to give to friends as gifts. Decorate the ornaments with mosaics, beads, and pieces of metal. Bake in the oven and paint when cool.

While feelings of suicide or wanting to hurt your family should be taken seriously, and telling your doctor about your feelings is imperative, wallowing in self pity is unlikely to bring about the changes you desire. programme. My 100 days ended up totalling nearly 300 days but the point is, I did it! It was during this exercise that I realised it’s ok to fail, but it’s NOT ok to give up. Taking one day at a time I slowly changed more than my diet, I changed my lifestyle. The Advantages of Eating Raw: • Emotional stability • Increased mental focus • Increased energy • Decreased anxiety • Improved skin, nail and hair quality • Rebuilds healthy tissue • Body heals easier and quicker • Improved sleep patterns • Body attains its natural and intended weight • You can eat as much as you like! We owe it to ourselves to fuel our bodies correctly in order to reach our full potential. We owe it to ourselves to practice and experience information so that we can become knowledgeable. And now I owe my son a visit to the veggie patch. He is eyeing the nasturtiums and spring onions while I can’t wait to get my hands on some beetroot and spinach. Today’s lunch will definitely consist of a mixed garden salad.
