ESTRAGON AND VLADAMIR FIND THEMSELVES AFRAID OF WHAT THE SILENCE MEANS FOR THEM, AND AS SUCH, THEY BEGIN THEIR RAMBLINGS TO DROWN IT OUT. THEIR FEAR OF SILENCE IS INTENDED TO MAKE THE AUDIENCE WANT FOR IT. AND THAT IN ITSELF IS ABSURD
IN FAMOUS ABSURDIST PLAYS SUCH AS WAITING FOR GODOT, SOUND (OR LACK THEREOF) IS OFTEN USED TO ACHIEVE THIS ALTERATION OF AUDIENCE PERCEPTIONS.
THEATRE OF THE ABSURD IS A GENRE BASED ON THE ALTERING THE WAY THE AUDIENCE EXPERIENCES THEATRE THROUGH THE LACK OF BASIC LEVELS OF INTERACTION AND LOGIC.
A THEATRE FOR THE CITY THAT CHALLENGES PERCEPTION THROUGH THE PERCEPTION OF SOUND. A TRULY ABSURD PLACE WHERE WHAT YOU SEE IS NOT WHAT YOU HEAR
“THE VISITORS WHO MOVE THROUGH THE LABRYNTHIAN CORRIDOR ARE ABLE TO PEER INTO THE MUSIC ROOMS. THEY CAN SEE THE MUSICIANS PLAYING BUT THEY CANNOT HEAR THE MUSIC WHILE INSIDE THE STRUCTURE, ... THE ROOM IS FILLLED WITH SOUND WHICH ESCAPES THROUGH THE FUNNEL LOUDSPEAKER INTO THE PARK. THE END ROOM OF THE CORRIDOR IS RESERVED FOR A COMPOSER WHO USES A SYNTHESIZER.” VICTIMS
