Lollipop Angel There is no template for this craft. This makes a cute way to give a child the gift of a sweet treat. MATERIALS: tootsie roll toostsie pop (or another ball-shaped lollipop) white tissue paper (or kleenex) colored tissue paper (we used yellow) wool, ribbon or string scissors markers one cotton ball yellow tempra paint or food color drops OPTIONAL: small wiggly eyes OPTIONAL: glitter glue
INSTRUCTIONS: Cut a rough circle out of colored tissue paper with a diameter of about 2 x the height of the tootsie roll.
Cut a rough circle out of white tissue paper or kleenex about 1/2 the size of the colored tissue paper circle..
drape the colored tissue paper over the lollipop and the white tissue paper over top of that
Tie a piece of string, wool or ribbon around the tissue paper right where the pop connects to the stick (the neck).
Draw a face on the white tissue paper head.
Take a square of white tissue paper or kleenex.
Scrunch it up in the center and tie a string around it.
Glue or tie it to the back of the lollipop (these are the wings)
OPTIONAL: decorate wings with glitter glue, sparkles or sequins Put the cotton ball in a glass container.
Squeeze in one drop of paint or food colour Add about 2 Tbsp of water and mix it into the cotton with a spoon or your fingers. Rinse out with a little bit of water if there's too much colour. Let dry. Glue to the top of the lollipop (hair)
Popsicle Stick Angel You can use regular popsicle sticks or use craft sticks for a larger version Materials: 11 popsicle sticks glue small photo of child OR round, flat wooden circle OPTIONAL: gold or silver or white paint or glitter glue
Instructions: OPTIONAL: paint the popsicle sticks and let dry. It looks nice if the dress (5 sticks) is gold or silver and the wings (6 sticks) are white.
Make the dress (5 popsicle sticks): Take 2 popsicle sticks and glue them together in a fan shape Take 2 more popsicle sticks and make a fan shape in the opposite direction
Push the two fans side by side and glue the last popsicle stick on top to make a dress shape
Make two wings (3 popsicle sticks each) Put three popsicle sticks together in a fan shape to make one wing Put three popsicle sticks together in a fan shape to make the second wing
Assemble the angel Glue both wings on either side of the dress Cut a photo of the child (cut around the head) and glue onto the top OR Glue a flat, wood circle onto the top and paint on facial features if desired
Glue a piece of thread or ribbon onto the back so you can hang it on the tree!
Fold and Cut Gingerbread Man (Woman) Chains
Cut the bottom off a paper bag and slit up one size. This will give you a very long piece of brown paper (you could use a regular piece of paper, but your chain won't be as long). Or use brown paper. Cut a 5 inch wide strip out of the paper (as long as you can make it) and accordian fold it (back and forth, back and forth). Make the folds the width or a bit less than the template pieces. Trace the template piece onto the top fold. Cut out (don't cut the ends of arms or feet or your chain will fall apart!) Unfold your chain and decorate with markers, paints, wiggly eyes, sequins, bits of lace, wool and ribbon or anything else you have on hand.

Santa Claus Face Paper Craft Use this craft as an advent calendar or as a one day paper craft. I made a template with the circles and one without (just in case you want to use it as a single day paper/cotton ball craft instead of as an advent calendar.
Thanks to Richard for the advent calendar idea -- here's his suggestion: Last year I found picture of Santa's face, the size of an 81/2 by 11 piece of paper. When we printed it, it had 25 circles on the beard. Each day the grands took great delight in gluing a cotton ball in each circle. On christmas day, the last one completed Santa's beard. I would love to find one for this year. Materials you will need are a printer, paper (I prefer white construction paper or another heavier paper), glue, cotton balls and something to color with
Print out the template of choice (either with or without circles). Colour pieces, as necessary. If using this as an advent calendar, each day of December, have the child glue a piece of cotton ball onto one of the circles OR if using this as a one day craft, have the child fill the beard with cotton balls. When I do cotton ball crafts, I usually have the children tear each cotton ball into 3 or 4 pieces before they begin gluing.
