The site's close proximity to the Willamette River pro vides a source of inspiration for the project. Due to the river's inhabitants of beavers, the official state animal of Oregon, the building becomes a modern embodiment of the iconic animal. The idea manifests itself in architectural adaptations such as the carving of the main entrance stairs that also serves as a separation of functions between the academic area and performance hall.

It then translates to a simple criss-cross hatch pattern that resembles the con sutrction in a cintemporary way. Aenean venenatis ligula tincidunt eros fermentum non gravida lectus tempor.

In order to provide fenetration, openings in the hatching creates opportunity to not only deliver the needed light, but also opportunity to express its architectural beauty.

Ab e rration - Hybridiza tion - Intervention

EVO

Faced with the reality that most new buildings in urban areas are previously occupied, this project explores the alternatives of intervention. By believing the fact that every building has character, intervening it would yield a result that new building couldn't quite achieve by giving that characer a new manifestation. EVO previously served as a warehouse located in Fremont neighborhood of Seattle. It is now a second hand harbor store that serves the bigger picture of this site. The main purpose of this project is to revitalize this block by adapting practices such as weekend farmer's market, creative upcycling exercises, and a DIY mentality.
