THE SHARKS AT THE TOP FIVE MORE GAMES TO CEMENT

As we make our way towards the end of the Blast regular season, Fynn Hudson-Prentice provides his insight to the Sharks’ ongoing success, and how everyone has had placed their independent mark on the season.

Fynn, your thoughts on the Blast campaign so far?

It’s been enjoyable. The energy around the group has been high and I think that has shown in our performances. We obviously started the season well in the Championship and I think that has really translated into the white ball stuff.

We’ve seen some amazing cricket and contributions from everyone in the team, what do you put the form of the team down to?

I think the four-day stuff has helped, starting strong and having momentum coming into the T20s. Tymal has lead the boys really well and I think everyone has had really strong clarity on the roles we are playing. We had a very strong winter in Hove with white ball being a strong focus with lads adding a few bits to their games and seeing that translate into the middle has been really positive!

Our overseas signings have made a big impact on the side, first talk to us about Dan Hughes, what’s he been like as a teammate?

He’s brilliant, so relaxed to be around away from the game but also has a mountain of knowledge which he is inputting into the group. Obviously, it helps that he has been outstanding with the bat, but his experience and game intelligence has been seriously good to learn from.

And Nathan McAndrew has been so important with bat and ball, how much has he impressed you this time around?

We obviously knew what he was going to add to the group after what he delivered last summer and how good of a man he is. It’s been great to have him back again and his performances have been huge again. The balance he adds to our side is brilliant and he has already won us a few games with bat and ball this year.

If you had to pick one performance from the team, or standout moment from the competition so far, what would it be?

I think the win at Hampshire was huge. We were struggling through the middle and the way Tommy, Lamby and Macca finished that innings gave us a good score. The whole bowling unit were outstanding after that and produced a great win. It was an impressive victory as I think previous years we wouldn’t have got the score on the board. I think it shows how much depth and belief we have through our batting order that we have multiple players that can come off on any given day.

Tymal has lead the boys really well and I think everyone has had really strong clarity on the roles we are playing. “

5 big games left in the groups, a quarter-final place is there up for grabs, how much do you and the team believe you have what it takes to take one of those spots and potentially make finals day?

Obviously we have strong belief in the squad, but we must keep taking each game as it comes. T20 is very fickle and if you start thinking too far ahead it can knock you down very quickly. I think if we just keep working hard, driving our training standards and keep doing the simple things well then, the rest will take care of itself. Our target now is obviously to make the quarter finals and see where we can go from there!
